They are paid extremely well. French laws are very beneficial to the workers. Notice those ladies doing those embroideries are middle aged? Cause once you get hired you rarely quit. The Irony is that big orders of embroidery (like for handbags) are farmed out to embroidery factories in india. (Where the embroiderors are not so well paid.)

haute couture is mostly for a very selected clientele. the prices can't be compared to pret a porter embellished clothes from eg. balmain. i know that for example some channel dresses were priced at over 100k or sometimes 200k... so decide for yourself but these prices can't be justified by the amount of work rather than the garments exclusivity

I agree with you 100%, Jan...that it’s an artistic vision, and a fabulous one made of fabric and thread. But, there’s a vast difference between visualizing something and the ability to bring it to life for other to see and admire. On a very basic visual level (with no imagination involved), any pair of human eyes can see the beauty in/ of a sunrise or a sunset over any terrain on Earth, but very few humans have the talented hands to achieve the perfect paint blends and to transform that image onto canvas. So when an artistic vision is brought to life through fabric and thread like this one, but ONLY by the diligent work of several talented hands,...that artistic vision no longer belongs to just one person...and so is the due credit for transforming that vision into a piece of art for others to see and admire. I’m juuuuuuust saying! 😊

Well, when you think about it, it's exactly the same for several things in life. Just take books for example. Sure, there's the name of the writer on the cover, but what about the editor, the proofreader or the graphic designer? All those people are absolutely vital to a book project, but they don't do it for the glory of it all. Sometimes, if they work directly for the publisher, their name doesn't even appear in small font in the book. They are proud of their work and passionate, and of course they are paid.

If credit were the key, we wouldn’t be able to see so many beauty around us in many forms.
