Maintaining variegation and buying guide for the variegated Monstera

This is a follow up video from one I did a few months back on the Variegated monstera albo. Too many of you have send me DMs with low integrity/quality of the cuttings you are buying. Often times these cuttings have rotted roots and nodes with no signs of variegated leaves. In this video I teach you how to identify potential for variegations in your cuttings and how to maintain/promote/reduce variegation.

Haters will be haters and show they don't know who you are and never follow you . Love this topic 👏 ❤ 😍 👌 🙌 highly appreciate it . Right on spot because I got it on a node cut in 2 that got same even variegated nodes i cut in 2 for security and experiment. 1 cut went to my boyfriend's office and get indirect light and gave 3 leaves with variegation and the 2nd with me in the house but have me 1 leaf that's green and dust of white variegation getting low light from the kitchen bay window . With this video and your brave propagation ill be giving it direct light now . Keep up good works 👍 and HELLO FROM TORONTO , CANADA 🇨🇦

Beautiful! I don't have a lot of money but I got a Thai cutting from my Dad and made 5 plants so far. I'm going to trade one for a v. Monstera and this video helped me learn more about them because I realize they are more risky than Thai Constellation. Thanks for the help with information. Don't worry what people say, you enjoy the gift of growing your plants well the way you like, keep them, sell them or gift them. Do what is practical for you and or gives you joy! I'm keeping my Thai to trade for rare kinds because that is my need. Thanks for giving of your time

GREAT video, inputs insights. thanks! Wait ... felt I need to edit / add on - I think Shaun is honest and just being decent and true to self. There'll always be haters or ppl who get plants just to be "in" ... Sometimes I too do feel as nice as the Variegated M. are, they ARE Overrated !!! Love my green monsteras; having 7 (including a very young thai constellation which prob counts as a Variegated; its soooo $$$ too!!!) Have much joy frm them. Only started having Variegated after many months of gaining knowledge / confidence - loving my V. Syngonium and V Epipremnum Pinnatum; both and other Variegated very rewarding & actually much less fussy. So once again, thanks for the tips - esp on Sellers who sell plants / cuttings with no/little ethnic - that is just soooo WRONG.

When I got into plants a year ago all I wanted was a monstera albo leaf. In one of my local facebook groups I found one for 90$. Months passed and nothing happened so I asked for advice in an international group. There the members told me it has a spent node(the plant starts its growth from the growth point amd the seller cutted it off) , and it wont grow anymore from there. I was new to plants so I didnt noticed. A year later I contacted the seller, because nothing happened and asked her if its a spent node, and she told me no its not that and it has 2 growth points on the node part and she pointed out 2 mineral built up as a ,,growth point,, 😅

Black spots could be fungal/bacterial if its in the middle of the leaf. But if on the edge sometimes its watering inconsistency (too much or too little) hope this helps

I love ur monstera variegated💚🤍😊. I bought a node cutting without a leaf at Etsy 4 days ago. I put mine in a glass jar with moist spagnum moss hopefully I see progress in a few weeks. I would love and appreciate care tips. Thank you so much😊

Dont overwater it, keep the moss airy and loose and fluffy but with bit of moisture humidity around the roots.

very informative, thank you. what kind of fertilizer do you recommend for this plant? i mean the NPK ratio

I go with balanced for all my plants. There are many varying theories about nutrition and variegation but none of them were proven. 😅

Love your channel a lot! I have a question, maybe somebody can help. Why did you mention that cutting (when propagated) don’t like the water to be changed. Is that specific to this specie or is it with other plants too? I was always changing water often, thinking it will help to avoid rotting.

This seems to be across all species. Do look up a video titled “water propagation” in my channel, I go in details 🤓
