You guys rock! Tons of maintenance and repairs to keep people working and produce moving. Most people don’t have an appreciation for the work that goes into supporting farming. You both do it all. Thank goodness and god bless you both. Thanks for sharing!!!
Holy crap! I see a lot of money going out the door! So many nonfarmers don't realize the sheer amount of maintenance required on a farm, and that's not a tenth of it. I'm glad you're showing some of the pains that come with it. Good luck, and may your harvest be bountiful.
1) You have to spend money to make money 2) If you don’t schedule maintenance for your equipment, your equipment will schedule the maintenance for you 😂 3) It’s always best to do these tasks on your schedule and not on the Oh Sh!t schedule
Hey Shane! When do you guys start working on your budget for next’s year crops? Or is it a constant issue? Glad you gave Morgan 💩! Stay safe guys?!😂👍🏼🇺🇸@@shanebell9589
I have often wondered if there is anything on the farm that Shane does not know how to maintain. This was a good one as we Shane in his maintenance world. I hope during the winter months we get a chance to see how much maintenance is done on all of their equipment during the 'off season'. I suspect Molly is heavily involved as well and learning a lot. Bet we will get to see Ray and Dave as well. Great story.
A farmers work is never done. Good job Shane for keepìng it G rated. Great job to the person that edited the video. I love to eat, thank you for what you guys do.
Watching you and Morgan working on stuff, giving each other shit and just having a good time is great. Reminds me of how my older brother and I were, teenagers working on some rusty pile-of-crap car. Thanks for the video.
Not a farmer and never really thought much about the the life of a farmer. However, one of your vids got in my feed somehow and it was fantastic. I've since watched every one of your videos over the last couple of months and I gotta say, they're endlessly fascinating. I now have a newfound respect and admiration for farming and the work involved in that way of life. Much respect in fact. Please keep up the good work and keep presenting it here. I now think about the work and passion involved in the produce I consume. Thanks for that as well
Good job Shane! These videos show how knowledgeable you are about all your numerous equipment pieces and your ability to repair and maintain them. Quite amazing. I hope the younger generation has some of your work ethic.
having ben in the logging buisness for years i feel your pain ,help doesnt do things your way sometimes gives ya a headache a lot but at least ya have help something i had trouble with allways finally just workd alone and loved it, at least ya knew who screwed up lol good going shane
Great video. I’m retired from Cooperative Extension, but my roots are deep in the family dairy farm. One of the traits I still have is one of being a “gear head”. I’ve restored all three of my father’s letter series John Deere’s, and bought a couple more and restored them, but never rebuilt a hydraulic cylinder. So I was all ears and eyes on that part. Thanks for sharing!😊
The usual, or always, good maintenance. If the main structure of an implement is in good shape, then the wear surfaces can be replaced. Age of the implement makes no difference if it is in good shape. Glad to see you working on the rods on paper. Less mess to clean up and no sand or dust on the rods.
Good morning Shane, I really enjoy all of the videos you and Molly make but I really wish you two would share more videos like this showing and explaining all of the maintenance and preventative maintenance involved with farming. Is it getting chilly in Maine? Here in Missouri it’s 44 degrees this morning. Have a good week.
OH so this is what good 'ol real hard working farming is all about.....here was me thinking everything was all LahDeDah farming nowdays like on that Millennium blokes show. You should invite him over Shane, get him off his 10 grand swanky new battery powered lawn mower and get a bit of grease on him, show him what hard yakka farming is all about ;) You and the missus are killing it mate....cheers from Oz
I am a jewelry designer and goldsmith, which is why I noticed Shane is wearing his wedding band while doing this kind of work. Probably not advisable. Look up "de-gloving". Just the description of this type of injury is incentive not to wear rings while doing manual labor. Those silicone bands are a great stand-in while at work.
Shane, I had you all wrong, I thought you just didn't like talking on camera. That's not it at all. You're a "machine head". Get you maintaining or repairing machines and you come alive!! I get it . Two things I like better than people are DOgS AND MACHINES, in that order. Carry on, I will always watch your vids and BTW I love your "average shooter" channel. Mike from Mass..
Shane you would have known the press to use on a Cat master pin back before the day of a serrated link. Not the press that took a small crane to pick up. A 16lb sledge hammer Huge amount of upkeep on a farm.
Molly, love to see more of the Shane camera he’s a natural been watching since last year after I ran across one of your videos fellow Ohioan you don’t have to say where you lived but north south east or west
I’m just guessing here but, I think Morgan gets paid by the hour and not by the job? 😂😂😂 My dad always said: If at first you don’t succeed, get a bigger hammer 😆
Where is your work bench? If you don’t have one, get one or a heavy table. Taking hydraulic cylinder apart and re-accessible them on the floor is for the birds.
Question for you, do any of your potatoes 🥔 and corn 🌽 come as far south as Tezas? If so under what brand if any, enjoying the videos and the hard 🫏 job. Stay safe y’all!
@@shanebell9589 Thanks Shane... I presumed so, but wasn't sure... One doesn't realize how worn the old discs are, until you see the new ones... When you were pointing out all of the reasons to Morgan, why it wasn't such a good idea to be using the cutting torch where he was, and how you were saying it, I said to my son "Gee Son, does that sound familiar?"... He said that it sounded just like me, except for the Maine accent... Lol... The only difference was that you ended your statement with "Good help is hard to find", I typically end mine with "But that's just me🤷"...🤣😂 I know that it isn't PC anymore, but I'm sure that you remember the old expression regarding co-workers that weren't adept at their tasks, "hire the handicapped, they're fun to watch"...🤷🤣
