Today I am reviewing Maison Francis Kurkdjian Oud Satin Mood. Is it ATH Approved? Link to someone giving the thumbs down on SLUT. No-one has it yet. www.fragrantica.com/perfume/A... www.parfumo.net/Perfumes/Aaro...
Hey Aaron your physical reactions to what you are smelling are priceless, literally, it is a gift. Thank you for taking the time and energy to do these videos in a way no one else can.
You're describing everything so well and honest. I also really enjoy your ability to experience the fragrance both personally as technically. Love the quality of your reviews!
Thank you for your kind words. Do you think I should go to a studio or is it ok as it is? I want this channel to be amazing and enjoyable for you. At the moment I get up and just do this. So its really unconscious flow of words. Im a bit worried that if I know I have to go to a studio that I may start to edit my words. Someone mentioned that there is an eco. But its the room I am in is empty so tense the eco. ATH
@@AaronTerenceHughes thank you for your response. It depends on what you want Aaron. I like the fact that you are obviously an artist and the unconscious flow of words that you are able to produce when smelling a fragrance really sets you apart from other RU-vidrs. I think you will create a niche. In a studio with edited words you could have a very commercial channel because of your skills. I personally prefer the look inside the thought process of an artist!
@@AaronTerenceHughes There is no eco.. sound is fine so is video quality. Everything is great! I am pretty sure most of us here do not want a business like review (there is plenty of those type of reviewers out there). We want it raw, hard and honest!
I think it do a short video asking people And if people like how it is il do it from my home. But if they want a studio and super editing il do that to. I’m doing this video for all of you. I’m happy just doing it and having very little editing and keeping it unedited and natural
I like seeing you breakdown these perfumes from a technical standpoint, especially the very expensive ones. Big fan from Nigeria, please kindly do a review of inexpensive fragrances for extreme heat. Looking forward to order the box from your website soon.....
I really like MFK but I couldn't agree more with your opinion of Oud Satin Mood... which I don't like at all and defo wouldn't wear myself. It's a bad attempt at modernising the oud+rose combo and I agree that it leans more feminine. Love your videos Aaron and look forward to buying some of your perfumes soon.
I have a sample of this. I sprayed it once, I've never sprayed it again. To me this defines "annoying" fragrance if that makes sense. You can't escape it if someone around you is wearing this.
I am so happy to see MFK Oud Satin Mood get an honest review. I too feel this particular perfume slightly sickening. On the other hand MFK Oud and MFK Oud Silk Mood are both much more to my liking, the latter being my fave. Love your vids - True passion, depth and insight, cheers! I will try to buy something on January 10th (I assume you ship to Denmark). Thanks. PS I would find it very interesting to hear your thoughts on say Aoud Lagoon and Oudmazing, both from house of Montale.
Absolutely love how you dismantled this into bits and pieces, I always found something a little bit off about this but could not pinpoint what it is. Happens for some fragrances. Would love for you to review Initio Rehab, creamiest fragrance I have ever encountered and would enjoy your awesome style of reviewing and dissecting it under the microscope for us all. You found yourself a fan!
loved the review! If your favorite note is rose, you should try if you have not already portrait of a lady by frederic malle. You should do a review on it! Greetings from Croatia!
Gotta love this man!! Honest and a genius in chemistry...!!! I would be very curious to know his oppinion about Etat Libre d’Orange Sécrétions Magnifiques. As a parfumer, and also ,,as Aaron". ;)
Im saving that and another for a review with my friends. As I know its a triggering fragrance. I smelt it once ages ago. But didn't form an view as I was very distracted and couldn't focus. ATH
I wish too share a video link with you Aaron I IT IS HARD TO WATCH BUT IT HAS AA HAPPY END :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8VdHuS4GT1g.html
❤ your naturally raw and unedited honesty. I especially like how you share with us both your personal and professional takes on each review. Please do a review on MFK Grand Soir. Have a wonderful day! Sending you lots of ❤🦄 happiness...
Hi 👋 you probably already have, but did you test this one on your skin, bud? I really enjoy your technical and structural analyses of your videos including this one. Be well! USA
Great review! I think this is a pleasant scent but I never wanted to purchase a bottle. It’s been out for awhile too, but I remember when it came out, Oud was literally everywhere!
I love this scent. I have the extrait. I’m going to have to pay attention to some of the things you point out! I love it partly because it’s obnoxious is a lovely way! I do admire your honesty! And your knowledge is absolutely amazing! But I can’t agree with your review on this one! ❤️🖤
@@hocineted7594 I think the extrait is more unisex. But I can’t really smell the edp on me after I spray it. I love it in the bottle! And I can see how it would smell softer. But I’d say it’s more about who’s wearing it! Edp smells like heaven on my friend! But it disappears on me. When I sprayed the extrait on my mom, I could smell the “band aid” smell that people talk about on her. I don’t smell that at all on me!
I actually hate the opening of Satin Mood, it's like a thick dense cloud of powder, sweet, and rose. But I do enjoy the drydown where you mostly only get rose and a tad of powder and wood.
I hated it at first, like sour prunes, but then I just couldn't stop smelling it. It was much nicer on my skin than on paper, and the dry down was less work.
same opinion on this as you do. i had my sample sitting for months. keep smelling it hoping this day will be different and ill fall in love. i hate it the same every sniff.
I concur with your review. I saw some positive comments about this fragrance on the internet, so I decided to give it a try. I don't like trying on a fragrance in a department store because there are so many other scents in the air that it makes it hard to accurately smell the test strip. So I sprayed MFK Oud Satin Mood on a test strip, placed it into a plastic sandwich bag, and brought it home with me. The fragrance was so intense that I could smell the test strip in the bag from across the room more than 24 hours after taking the sample. And to be clear, I don't mean I could just barely smell it. It was incredibly strong. The scent originally had a woody/rose smell and was too sweet. After a few hours the woody scent disappeared and all that was left was the smell of the rose and this was really cloying and unpleasant.
Absolutely love your reviews. So graphic and detailed. It’s interesting how some fragrances just make us recoil because we dislike them so much, but on another level, we can appreciate the composition and/or craftsmanship
Hey Aaron, I actually like MFK Satin Oud but only after the dry down. Every time I spray it I get the scent of burning hair in a salon or a curling iron 😖. Immediately I regret spraying it on for hours until the base notes hit and I enjoy that part. I couldn't find anyone else that picked up that burnt smell.
One sheep on the other side doesn't like oud satin mood, which is not a bad thing. Preference. It's a good scent from start to dry down, very well blended and creamy
Isnt that burnt candy ethyl maltol? Its added too ejuice to. I sprayed satin mood on my hand. After 6 hours my mom asked me if i was vaping. The problem with satin mood is mfk tried to cover the beauty of the classic oud rose combo to make it mass appealing. But i am still an mfk fanboy.
With how people were talking about this, I thought this would have been a homerun. Got a sample...and it's 12 hours of cottoncandy/bubblegum. Now, I'll give it props for being exceptionally long lasting and projecting.
I blind-bought this for my wife's birthday thinking "it's Francis Kurkidjian, surely you can't go wrong". Big mistake. I get a sweet 'Turkish Delight' vibe from this and not much else. It's too sickly sweet and I'd assumed, being as MFK is niche and this sells for silly money, they'd at least be using natural ingredients. You confirming that they aren't leaves me feeling even more galled.
It's fun to have a perfumer on RU-vid to interact with! I am very curious and want to learn about the art. I feel that both you and Roja are passionate and willing to guide those of us who care to ask. Are there any books you recommend to learn about proper amounts of oils (by family), fixation, pairings, and accord building? I've also thought about making a scent- strip wind mill (like Roja has). It will take a while for me to amass the funds to collect enough oils, tinctures and extracts to start my own creations (outside of my clone experiments).
@@omomo202 I lost a good Perfumer's Alcohol supplier (due to the pandemic. I'll have to look for new companies that won't gouge us. The price per ounce rose drastically, since that was primarily used as a disinfectant. It became harder to get any deals afterwards. I was using non-denatured Perfumer's Alcohol, but the problem is, to sell a fragrance that way requires a Liquor License. Believe it or not, they actually fear someone will take the time to filter the oils and fixatives from the Alcohol and drink it that way (to avoid Liquor tax). That is silly because of the expense of fragrances to begin with. No one will buy a $200- $500 100 ml bottle to drink the alcohol LOL. Some laws seem to exist to cure one's boredom.
This one is interesting, when I first got into fragrances I thought I really liked Oud Satin Mood but as I progressed and got to try and wear other perfumes I find it off-putting now. Maybe I'm just older but I don't want sweet syrup with my oud.
Hello Aaron it is I, your most faithful subscriber. Once again an amazing review. MFK is a very expensive house and the fact you dont like this concoction upsets alot of the people who bought it. That being said my bro, please review Prada L'homme Intense. My current signature. I hope you like it hit its OK if you don't. It'll help me better my understanding of fragrance.
I review for me. I DONOT and will never review for anyone else. I will never be paid to review and I will never change how I review. As I said I think its a good technical fragrance. But not for me at all. I do not like massive aroma chemical perfumes.
I felt that same way about Montale’s Black Aoud which has a red rose note, oud and patchouli. When I wore it, I del like I wanted to barf from the sickly artificial red rose scent. It wasn’t sickly sweet like what you’re getting with this fragrance, but I can understand that repugnant feeling with a note you cannot enjoy.
OMG Arron, this perfume is so powedery, and rosy. Almost hard to inhale this scent. I got a 10ml sample and I am shocked. People are so hyping this I dont know why...and your reaction, I rarely see thst much of discomfort.
Hi Aaron! Many reviewers have done their takes on how they store perfumes but I was wondering if you could do a video on the best way to store perfumes to make them last longest. It would be great coming from a scientific point of view explaining what happens to the perfume in the wrong conditions and why. Have a great day, and catch up on that sleep mister! 😉😉
I feel very calm now after seeing your review. I got a sample of this and then have tried it once or two more times after that. Each time I just hate it! I think it is a chemical wasteland :-) I just can't stand it, it smells like gross baby wipes. It has gotten so much hype on the internet, and I don't understand it. I tried the other ouds from MFK as well, and they turned so chemically and really false smelling on my skin. I'm going to let them sit and try them again and again and see if I like them, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who is repulsed by this smell :-). This is a great reason to always sample! :-) thank you for the review!
Interesting review. I love your honesty! But when I wear this I get a lot of compliments. Many think it’s sexy. Funny how everyone has a difference of opinions. I guess that’s why we’re all unique!
I have to say, you re wonderful, and we re truely blessed listening your reviews and notes breakdown. It s really important what you re doing, not only because you create perfumes, but more important than that, you educate us. Please continue to educate people, here on youtube, tell us what is natural and what is chemical, tell us what you would choose and what you would not. Share with us your knowledge. It s clear that you ve got big passion, and it would be a waste, if you would stop. Maybe it s not the best idea for us to buy the commercial brands, maybe it s time to evolve, towards natural and quality ingredients and brands. Respect for your work! I ll soon buy a fragrance from you! Peace!
Do you remember what the MFK oud fragrance was that you like? The only one i love is the normal „Oud“ and i‘m surprised that the internet likes „Oud Satin Mood“ the most.
Aaron Terence Hughes my favorite is Oud Silk Mood Extrait of the line, at least from cards I haven’t tried all on skin but agreed I don’t like Satin Mood.
Awwww my beautiful soul im feel sorry for you is like it hurts your head when you don't like the chemicals combination great video as always I enjoy your videos 4:00 am watching you everyday thanks for your honesty 😍
Thanks for the honest review! I lie on the opposite spectrum and love Satin Mood because it reminds of a fruit called lychee which I have enjoyed throughout my lifetime. Keep up the great reviews ATH!
I just smelled this in a SAKS this past Saturday and I don’t find it nauseating but it was quite cloying and just unpleasant all together in my opinion. They had another one called pour me Soir edp and it was much better.
Love your channel! Totally agree with this review. This scent really does evolve into something really very overly sweet for an oud fragrance. But what disturbes me the most (and my nose may totally be playing tricks on me) is the opening. The first couple of hours all I can smell is an overwhelming cheap old-timey linen washing soap or detergent. Like an un-cented household soap or sth. I purchased a sample some time ago because of all the hype for this fragrance but am going to have to through it away.
I actually thought you would like this one. Interesting to see you didn't as I thought it would be right up your street due to all the naturals it is 'supposed to have'
Oh at last, thanks for a great, honest review. I do agree 100🤢 I Dont Like it eather. Its headacing, heavy, and to strange to me. Its just to Much! Own 5 samples, but never wear them. Not even for testning 🤢 Love from Copenhagen 😊
Nice review. Thank you. This ist literally the highest rated Mfk on parfumo before bacarat rouge...fanboys are gonna flip out;) I had the same feeling than you for this one ,and same for the highly praised baccarat rouge, with an even more burnt candy note. But after I came back to baccarat rouge after 2-3 weeks of “healing” and several showers to get it of my skin I tried half!a spray on my skin. This is so strong that 3 sprays will make the whole city smell for years to come ;) Anyways ,to my surprise I started liking it after half an hour on my skin, and to my further surprise -got lots of compliments for it. will try baccarat rouge again although this stuff is frightening . They must use a ton of chemicals to be able to project that much and for that silage. If I spray this stuff on my leather arm band I literally can smell it for at least a week even with two showers per day... I would love your thoughts on orca by house of matriarch. 100% natural perfume.
Im reviewing that soon. Im a bit scared to be honest. I felt assaulted after this one. I had to go shower and pick it up in a bag and throw it in the bin two doors down as it made me so sick. ATH
Believe me my friends your description is perfect, when i buy a sample of this fragrance (thanks to god i don't blind buy) the smell that i received is so boring. I don't understand why the people judge this fragrance like a masterpiece honestly but the smell is the most subjective sense that we have and every people are different, But for me this is a pass, i prefered spend the same money, or less, for a fragrance like Oud Wood by Tom Ford (that i know, goes in a different direction respect to this one). Compliments for the honest, in the frag comunity is a rare quality. Sorry for my bad english, best regards from Italy.
@@AaronTerenceHughes Thanks for the reply Aaron i hope that you can review more other fragrances mostly on Dior and Tom Ford line (designer and niche). Thumbs up for you.
I find most MFK scents to run sweet.. like too sweet for me. Oud wood is a classic tom Ford scent. Very nice. I actually really like oud minerale for summer nights or fall. And I have tobacco oud intense. I love them.
@@XxXHardcoreshredderxXXxxxxxxxx I don't have smell tobacco oud but oud minerale is a great fragrance for me. I'm fall in love with another Tom Ford fragrance Noir anthracite, that i know is hated by a lot of people, but smell so unique
@@fabriziovassallo9889 I think I like some of his noir fragrances actually. I tend to buy the ones I dont see reviewed much (not because its exclusive but because I genuinely tend to like those more) honestly some of the aquatics I like, like Costa azzura over neroli portofino. I'm debating on saving up for creed royal oud, or something else from nishane or initio parfum. There are some crazy scents out there in the niche world. Always worth a sniff. As I currently reside in Rome, I make an effort to find the niche parfum shops. Theres a bit more than I thought!
Sorry it was so bad for you. It looked like it was causing you physical pain. I get it though, not every fragrance is for everyone otherwise they'd all smell the same. Keep knocking out the vids, they're fantastic!
I hear plenty but never smelled.. but what Ive heard... Im not anxious to get my nose on it... But Im interested on you review on same company MFK Bacarat Rouge 540 Extrait🤔🤗🤗
I’m a bit nervous. I want to love everything I might find the oud sample I liked and review that as a balance .im not into trashing fragrance. But can’t help how I react ATH
I'm triggered by other people being triggered by perfume names that shock them. Agreed, this is an overly sweet, aroma chemical perfume. "Oud for little girls" is so true! Thanks for the honest review.
for me it is not the best of oud collection from MFK , so so so sweet make my throat feel burn I have (Oud Extrait de Parfum) I think it is the best, try it the oud from Laos is special . thanks Aaron.
The projection is unreal and lasts well more than 2h. This is a deliciously obnoxious fragrance that many people love, just like Interlude Man. Some people like to be noticed, you got to accept it.
Interesting that you can detect traces of real oud there (As part of the oud accord). I've been wondering about this line. I certainly don't smell anything that i perceive as real oud in the 'standard' MFK Oud. I hope you get to test that one day.
I really love this fragrance and your review as well! How someone could feel offended is beyond me... I am sorry but not sorry to say that - I really enjoyed seeing you having the chills and suffering through this review, hehe 😂
Love this one as well..do you get like an almost candy, satin/silk, leathery type vibe? The candied vibe could be the Rose or vanilla/benzoin notes. Splendid fragrance/art.
@@xavierpettway9265 Just saw your answer- I do not get any leather. But I get a very candied almost velvety sweet candy rose- im wearing it right now. Still smelling it very strongly after almost 7 hours- And I still find it funny seeing Aaron struggling through this review;)
