Cell was the perfect ending. The beginning of Goku becoming a serious idiot began in this arc. Fighting Vegeta and holding back so that Buu would be revived, having faith that Gohan can just get angry and he'll never lose while completely forgetting, again, that Gohan doesn't marvel in battle. He wanted to stay dead because he thought he was a threat to Earth, and within hours helps revive this pink bubblegum monster that can regenerate easily and eat people. Seemingly kills Gohan, and then what does he do? He passes the torch to SEVEN YEAR OLDS who he's barely seen fight and aren't mature enough to understand how serious a threat this is. Like, bruh, YOU helped revive him, so its your responsibility, not children's. Vegeta tried his hand and died, you fought Buu, knowing you could win, and decided to just stop.
@@pric3lessl0s3r5 I won't deny the animation was really good, and it seemed like it had the potential to be a good arc, but it just completely fucking sunk, it was like a different show rather than a different arc
Definitely had some of the best aspects of dbz perfected in the buu arc but at the same times some things that should have felt cool feel empty. Like Gohan becoming so powerful is a great finish to all his buildup throughout the series but it felt so unearned unlike the cell saga
Buu arc should've been... Act I - Tournament - Reintroduce the cast. Headline fights include: Veggie vs 18 rematch. Picollo vs GoTrunks. Gohan vs Goku. Etc. - Introduce some early Buu arc cast members - Corrupt fighters in the Tourney + caught in the wild by Gohan/Say-What Man lay the groundwork for the next arc's theme. - End: Goku wins Tourney. Dabura lays down Kibito. Shin tells everyone about Buu. ACT II - Corruption - Goku & Veggie hunt down Dabura. Dabura makes Veggie an offer he doesn't refuse and escape to meet Babidi. - Veggie goes Majin and fights Goku. - Gohan & Shin hunt down Babidi. Almost end him. - Dabura intervenes. Gohan wins but almost dies. Shin takes them both away. - End: Buu wakes up. Gohan is promised a plot power-up. ACT III - Buu - Buu eats every minor character. - Gohan gets his lore power-up. - Veggie wakes up and dedicates his life. - Gohan comes back and dedicates his life. - Goku comes back, goes SSJ3, and beats half the cast out of Buu. - End: Buu destroys the Earth. Shin saves some of the cast*. ACT IIII - FIN - Buu eats every minor planet. - Shin gets Goku and Veggie a day pass to fight Fed Buu. - Goku & Veggie get worked. Shin almost dedicates his life. - Goku and Veggie fuse with Shin's earrings. Fed Buu gets worked. - End: Fed Buu dedicates his life. Dende gets Big Green to ctrl-z everything Buu did.
I don't think Super is that bad. Jiren isn't awful lr badly written. I would just say its his personality that makes him seem boring mostly. Imo Goku Black arc>Majin Buu arc unless it is the ending. DBZ is already a hard stone to break or surpass so Super being better than it honestly couldn't happen I think
97 episodes is not that long. 118-194 is the Trunks-Android-Cell Saga, but if you count that as 1 arc, then it's appropriate to lump Raditz and Vegeta with Namek and Frieza Saga, which is 117 much slower episodes.
That’s a good point. But in the case of Raditz, Vegeta and the Saiyans, we didn’t know about Freeza until a lot later into those arcs, and even then, there wasn’t a reason to interact with him until he happened to be on Namek at the same time as Gohan, Krillin and Bulma. As for Buu, we learnt about him pretty early on, so the pacing seemed even more off compared to the other arcs.
I didn't watch the Buu ark but I have seen some of its key moments and it was that time were Gohan was the protagonist(i like Gohan). In my opinion from an outsider looking in the bu ark seems to be a classic case of a franchise continuing for a long time and while still introducing new exiting concepts and story elements the execution gets worse and worse as it is dragged out. I mean allot of people think that DBZ should have ended after Freza died and while I don't agree with that opinion it’s definitely an understandable one. Unrelated topic but does anyone think that Sukana is just kid Buu with intelligence and an ego or am I just crazy.
