Brandon Aiyuk latest:
- Going into the 5th year of his rookie contract after the 49ers exercised his fifth year option
- Guaranteed $14+ MM in 2024
- Aiyuk is going to want a contract extension before the season most likely, just like we’ve seen in previous years with George Kittle, Fred Warner, Deebo Samuel and Nick Bosa
- Does Aiyuk want to remain in San Francisco? Could want $25+ MM a year and WR1 targets
- Do the Niners want to keep him and can they afford him? Things are getting tight financially for the 49ers
- If the 49ers don’t want to sign Aiyuk, they could very well look to trade him and the asking price will be high
- If a team is willing to trade a first round pick for AIyuk, is that too good of an offer for the Niners to turn down?
- They could draft a WR who’s much cheaper as a Brandon Aiyuk replacement
- San Francisco could use that first round pick on a position of greater need, like right tackle
- NFL Insider Dan Graziano of ESPN is predicting the 49ers will trade Aiyuk for a first rounder:
“To me, the most likely way this shakes out is Aiyuk ends up getting traded to a team where he's the clear No. 1 wideout and where he can get the extension he wants, leaving the Niners to draft his replacement in the first round. That's the cleanest way for them to address all of their other needs. I see San Francisco extending Hufanga and coming to some sort of arrangements with Juszczyk and Greenlaw that keep them both around. That leaves the Niners to run it back with the same basic core, some upgrades in key spots and Aiyuk cheering them on from afar.”
- Why would a team trade a first rounder for Aiyuk? Gotten better every season, second team all-pro in 2023, great route runner, complete WR for a WR needy team and he’s still 25 years old. They could pay him WR1 money that the Niners can and give him WR1 targets that the Niners can’t necessarily do.
- Can the Niners pay Deebo and Aiyuk both top dollar at the same position? Could be tough
- I think it would be a massive mistake to trade Aiyuk. We saw what happened in a similar situation with DeForest Buckner the last time the Niners lost a Super Bowl
- Aiyuk is only going to get better, still think his best ball is ahead of him, has evolved into a great WR for Brock Purdy
- But if a team offers a first round pick, could be tough for the Niners to turn that down
Would you trade Aiyuk for a first round pick? T for Trade, K for Keep
Could the previous relationship between Bill Belichick and the Shanahan family lead to Kyle Shanahan calling Belichick to gauge his interest in becoming the next 49ers defensive coordinator to replace Steve Wilks?

Belichick has always respected the Shanahan family, going back to the late 90's and early 2000's, when he was close to Mike. Then, in 2020, Belichick reached out to Kyle after the Super Bowl.
