Today we will be attempting to restore the badly damaged rear fender on our 1948 Gmc truck. This fender has lots of exciting old collision damage and bondo bodywork. Follow along as we dive into this epic quest for mediocre bodywork!

Truly a NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC moment !! The study of earth as was in the millions of years ago. Bondo was a as natural as the clay is in the earth, I learned a lot so keep story telling ALIVE !!!

Enjoyed body shop story time. Reminds me of cold cocking myself in the temple with a crow bar, not once but twice tightening the alternator belt on a square body truck. Still has not knocked any sense in me.

The effort you put in on that shark-bit corner starting around the 14 minute mark may be the most insistently I've ever seen you retain original, unsalvageable metal. Oddly satisfying to see you unravel that.

That's great! I never knew a 5/8" spark plug socket could be used as a jewelers loupe. Also, every great archeologist worth their weight in bondeaux should have a trusty whip. 😉😁

Another great sound is when a high fly ball hits directly on the top of someones head, bounces like hell too. I used to play and when that happened to one of my buddies I laughed so hard I thought I was gonna have a heart attack. Dropped him to the ground, that was almost 50 yrs. ago and I'm laughing right now.

There is also clear evidence of volcanic activity and earthquakes. That is a mess. I enjoy seeing minimal restoration trucks with a few character marks at shows. Those are the ones you can enjoy without worrying about people touching them. It's turning out very nicely. Cheers!

I have to assume that some of your self deprecating comments are simply because you know you could take everything back to near perfect with enough time but coat / reward isn’t there a lot of the time . Having said that- this fender once again proves you can save practically anything . I know as close to zero about metal work as anyone but that fender looked like absolute crap before and it’s good now. Nice job.
