'Juuuuust a bit outside' is one of the lines that makes Bob Uecker a legend. In an alternate ending, Lou Brown was going to resign, but then Phelps told him her late husband owed a ton of back taxes, so that was the only way she could build the team.
@IdliAmin_TheLastKingofSambar
@IdliAmin_TheLastKingofSambar 11 дней назад
That original twist ending was so much better than what was in the film. Rachel Phelps loved the city and the team, and had scouted the players herself, trying to find value where other teams hadn’t, because her dead husband had financially destroyed them. She was playing Moneyball before Billy Beane made it famous. But test audiences preferred the trite, and frankly sexist trope of the gold-digging, ex-showgirl owner.

In the "Wild Thing" edition of the Major League DVD, the original TWIST ending involved the reveal that Rachel Phelps, the owner, had actually used the potential move to Miami as a ruse to get the team to play better. I used to watch this movie all the time with my dad. Fun fact, the guy who played the third base coach who says “okay Eddie that’s enough fast balls, throw him some breaking balls” was Steve Yeager. He’s a former Dodger’s player who actually served as a trainer on the set to train the actors. He’s General Chuck Yeager’s nephew. Speaking of the Cleveland Indians, in 1974 they did an outrageous promotion when they hosted the Texas Rangers. 10-cent beer knight. And the game was called off due to drunk and unruly fans.

If you love someone, go to them. And when they reject you, keep going to them. Follow them. Harass them. Break up their engagement. Gaslight them into thinking the time you cheated on them was their fault. And if the love is true, and you stalk them around the room in such a way as to insinuate violent repercussions if she says no, she will return that love back to you tenfold.

Juuuust a bit outside! Before Bob Uecker became the iconic Baseball/Sports announcer, he had the distinction of playing Catcher for the Milwaukee Braves and Atlanta Braves (with stops at St. Louis Cards and Philadelphia Phillies between the Braves' move). He provided some of the funniest play-by-play and color commentary, like the best way to catch a Knuckleball was to wait until it stopped rolling and pick it up. He spent about 6 years in the minors and 6 in the majors. He's still around at 89. Check out Charlie Sheen and his little brother Emilio Estevez in MEN AT WORK (Triumph Releasing 1990). It was also written and directed by Emilio.

I live in Ohio and I don't understand it but I do appreciate how Hollywood loves Ohio for sports movies. You've got Major League 1 and 2, Draft Day where Kevin Costner is the general manager of the Browns, Little Giants was set in Ohio, Keanu Reeves was a QB from Ohio State in both The Replacements AND Point Break.

I have a couple Wesley Snipes movies I'd suggest, as long as you don't listen to critics. "Passenger 57" is a decent action movie, "Rising Sun" (with Sean Connery) is a good murder mystery and "Murder at 1600" (a personal favorite) is a good political murder mystery.

Yeah I like those three movies too. They're very good, a little under rated I think.

My favourite is still the group up in the stand... too high, too high... how can it be too high? That's how we watch sports. Charlie Sheen - my top picks - Red Dawn, Wall Street, Young Guns, The Rookie, The Three Musketeers, The Arrival. Some of his movies are like watching the beginning career or a lot of big players. Red Dawn and The Outsiders (Charlie Sheen and Emilio Esteves) are full the "not yet famous".

Ah, the 80s, back when people’s apartments didn’t have doors and you could just walk up a flight of stairs into their living room.

Funny thing. Charlie Sheen really could pitch. If he had not gotten into the movie business he probably would have been in the MLB.

There are 2 sequels to this. Major League 2, and Major League: Back to the Minors. 2 features Vaughn, Cerrano, Dorn, Taylor, and some new characters in the next season. Back to the minors includes Dorn, Cerrano, and a couple players from the 2nd movie plus new characters in the minors. Led by Scott Bakula (quantum Leap, Star Trek Enterprise)

Leicester City winning the Premier League title, at odds of 5000-1 greatest underdog story of all time, and the season before was the greatest escape of all time, Leicester sat bottom of the league for majority of the season and the won 7 games on the trot to escape relegation and followed it up by winning the title in the following season...greatest story ever told
