You should mention that there is a fascinating medieval history behind Neuschwanstein. But the Medieval Castle was in ruins before Ludwig II took hands on the place. I'd even say its the bigger misconception that this place has no historical background before Ludwig II, who paid no heed to historical accuracy. At least you should do so..

1:17 That was a picture of Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland, not Cinderella Castle which is at Walt Disney World and Tokyo Disneyland.

The guy that owns the last Burg does still live there with his family. The footage you showed is from your own documentary about him living there with his family. they have a part of the Burg that is not open for visitors.. because they live there and modernized it.

The "25000 Castles" are also somewhat of a linguistic misconception. The German word "Burg" encompasses not only castles but also smaller dwellings that would be considered manors in the English speaking world.

not sure about this misconception. A "Burg" (castle) had a military or/and adminstrative purpose in medieval times and therefore show fortification elements like thick walls, gates, crenellations, trenches etc. The list of castles could also include ruins of former castles or larger fortifications. Some castles were turned into residences and palaces later on. And in the romatic period of the 1800's it was popular to built palaces in a castle-like style. But simple manors or palaces without these castle-style elements are not consider "Burg".

Yes! We thought about it a while. But 'misconception' is too long for the thumbnail 😆. Thanks for your comment!

Truly awful video. The cameraman and drone driver keeps panning so fast that the image gets blurry. This is ridiculous. Nobody did that in the old days. Moreover, this is a common problem with DW videos.
