I always thought that structuralism places importance on the author. But hell no it doesn't. It places emphasis on the inbuilt structures on the mind by the society on to the reader. And the writer takes a backseat as it does in post structuralism. Can anyone pls correct me if I'm wrong
Yeah basically structuralism emphasized the underlying structure, rules and patterns that govern literary works in general. Not only does structuralism undermine the role of the author it undermines any particular literary work. That's to say, it's interested in the general rules that form literature.
