So we are back and this is a movie you all picked for our September Poll! This MAJOR PAYNE from 1995. Maj. Benson Payne (Damon Wayans) lives, breathes and sleeps war. But after being honorably discharged from the Marines due to a lack of wars, Payne, the natural-born killer, has absolutely no idea how to cope in everyday civilian life. Fortunately, before he completely breaks down, Payne finds his way back into a military capacity at Madison Preparatory School, leading a group of misfit JROTC students who don't want to be led. Whipping these kids into shape might be his toughest battle yet. At first I didn’t remember a lot but as I got through it 1 is absolutely hilarious and 2 it was a lot of fun to watch we were laughing the whole time at the jokes and just a great plot for this movie

I ended up raising my three boys after their mother left. When the boys would cry, I would ask to see their fingers( there was always a smile). They would watch this at least once a month. They joined young Marines but never joined the military. They have their own families now. I tear up as a old blue collar foreman everytime I see this.

Just wondering, are the Young Marines still a thing? They used to have them in my area, but stopped years ago. Which is too bad. My older brother was in the YM before he joined the Marines. He really enjoyed it.

@@AregPone Young Marines as far as I know is still around. The problem was that you don't'have the support that other organizations have( scouts ect). The first group that they belonged to was start by a marine and his wife. They were transferred. That was the end of it. More of the same for the other 2 that they belonged to. We had moved states as well.civil air patrol and naval cadets seem to do it better( looking at what naval cadets learn. Incredible).

This movie, while being a funny comedy, really has a lot of heart. It has a good message about teamwork and working hard for a goal. You think it's just a silly movie but when you watch it, it's actually a fantastic movie!!

In 1995, I was 11 years old. I had a crush on Karyn Parsons during the '90s. Growing up, I was a massive fan of this film. Cadet Dwight "D." Williams is played by Damien Dante Wayans, the nephew of Damon Wayans.

I was just out of the Marine Corps about a year when this came out. I took my niece and nephews to go see it. Having my own family now it has become a family favorite. My daughter and I have especially bonded over this movie, and we watch it at least 3 -4 times a year together!

My favorite part will always be how Major Payne protected Alex from his abusive stepfather. It was then that Alex realized Payne was tough on him because he cared, and knew Payne believed in him as a leader. The look on Alex’s face after that really is crushing. No one stood up for him and it touched him. Payne also understood why Alex acted out the way he did and was combative. That scene was powerful

One of the best lines that sums up Payne's morality how to treat a kid/teen. "You touch him again, I'll do more than salute you". Whats great about Payne is that, even he has a limit on what he does to the kids/teens. Like how he almost punches Stone, but never does. Also protects Stone from Stone's step father, like he was Payne's own. Payne is a good guy deep down.

I didn't see Major Payne until I was a part of AFJROTC in high school and they rewarded us one day with watching this movie. good memory.

8:58 - Major Payne may not be D's brother, but he IS his uncle. "D'wight aka D" is actually Damien, a 2nd generation Wayans that made his motion picture debut in this movie. He had a small role in "Don't Be a Menace..." right after this and later he was Tec on "Malibu's Most Wanted" alongside Anthony Anderson as well as writer, director and producer of his uncle's show My Wife & Kids

Damon Wayans played Homey the Clown on the sketch comedy show In Living Color back in the early 90s. I'm now imagining what would happen if Homey the Clown and Major Payne ever confronted each other. That would be a lot of crazy hijinks right there 😂.

As a former R.O.T.C. Cadet they need to make more movies with kids spinning rifles [ with slings though] all of our M1903 Springfield rifles had slings. We also had M1's, but only the marines spun those.

The biker was a wrestler from the 80s and early 90s. His name that he goes by is BamBam Bigelow. He even faced a football player LT. Lowrance Taylor at a huge ppv event.

It was Major Payne made anonymous call to ambush his own team. He set them up to teach them lessons. Alex didn't put Tiger in danger. He sent back him home safely.

The big biker they hired to beat up Major Payne was actually a wrestler named Bam Bam Bigelow and in real life he wasn't perfect but he saved three kids from a house fire and burned a good portion of his body and eventually died after getting addicted to pain meds . He wasn't perfect but he was a hero for saving those three kids lives. RIP

Toy Story was Very Late November of 95. So it might as well have been 96. Where as Major payne came out in March of 95. You likely seen it during summer vacation so remember it as 95 but might not have seen toy story till early 96.
