Yes indeed. It was pricey to have the shield done but it’s worth the peace of mind knowing it’s the best option. And now is the time to do it before the car is done. 👍
DukieMoto totally agree! Binged all 34 episodes in a week then had to wait a month for this update. Dan, don't keep us waiting so long this time please! ;) Great job, I've learned a lot!
Can’t believe we are at episode 35, and I’ve excitedly looked forward to every episode! This is most definitely one of RU-vid’s hidden gem of a build. Thank you👏
The finish on everything, even at this point, is so right. The factory should take some notes! I'm 47, and this thing makes me make car noises in my head like a kid, 😆... Outstanding work!
Dan you must be so pleased, and rightly so. I was holding my breath when the engine was hoisted in. Thank you for showing us when things don’t go right the first time, your calm approach is inspiring.
This is an incredible build Dan, you’re going to have one of, if not THE, greatest Ultima’s on the planet. Total respect for everything you’ve managed so far and the exceptional work you’ve put in. You should be extremely proud.
Absolutely stunning. One day I hope my work has the level of quality yours does. Big fan ever since your first couple videos. Keep up the great content👍🏻
Great to see so much progress after all this time Dan. Please do some driving/review/reaction vids after she's finished. It will be so gratifying to see the finished article in motion after following the build all along.
Can't wait to hear her fire up.... so close...still a ton to do, but as always, so impressed. Everything looks so clean, amazing build thus far. Excited for ya.
I think that mounting bracket for the dash unit needs some triangulation/stiffening ribs in the back so the unit doesn't end up in the driver's lap. Even if you are relegated to filament printing, there are some good carbon filament options that would be superior in strength and also weight. Air boxes are SWEEEEEEEET!
If you had used 7/8th bar in the dash you would have had access to a world of motorcycle accessory and mirror mounts in any material you care to name . There are some in inch but not as many by a very long way.
Indeed I am putting a new axle in It’s BRK “ car trailer” Your Build is almost finished and ready to Dyno. The next Barrett-Jackson Fall Road Tour is in New England. You might want to apply send them a pic or two of your baby.
Hi Fred! I actually Cerakoted the headers and then later decided to get them heat shielded. Heat management is the biggest enemy on these cars and i wanted the ultimate in heat insulation. Other builders have stated while the Cerakote helps, it’s still not enough to keep engine bay temps down.
I actually had my headers cerakoted before I decided to have them heat shielded. The company who did the work said they would only needed to sand blast small areas at the ends where the heat shield gets welded to the flanges. There’s no such thing as overkill when it comes to heat control. Heat shielding is the ultimate heat insulation available but it is expensive. Worth it though, imho.
with the entire header wrapped with that stuff............will the headers retain ALOT of heat and crack the welds.??? or somekinda distortion .??? .. but that wrap job looks great -- bidenomics has got me so broke right now i would have to do it myself and half of my headers on my 1969 javelin LOL
No issues like this reported with this kind of wrap. In fact, by not allowing heat to dissipate through the header piping, it accelerates the exhaust gases for more efficiency. It’s quite a setup. 👍
