Before BGC, Makati was the only modern city in PH imo. Grew up here in the 80s, Glorietta and Greenbelt, Bel-Air Jupiter street (the old Alba's Spanish resto, Swiss inn, Japanese restos), Salcedo, Legazpi and Rockwell.. these were places where we hung out as highschool kids. Poblacion emerged in recent times. The first Starbucks way back in the 90s at Ayala 6750 when it wasn't too known and overrated. Breakfasts, brunches and lunches at the Manila Pen with my mom and titas (aunties) were always a fun treat coz I looove french cheeses. Ayala Avenue was a feast for the eyes at Christmas. The Christmas lights were SPECTACULAR and a show while stuck in traffic. People used to think the Philippines was a jungle and I just shrug. True in most parts, but not in Makati. When I traveled the world and lived in Dubai, France and Switzerland, I realize growing up in Makati was a privilege. We had everything from luxury brands to international wines and cheeses readily available. We also had affordable and local brands in Landmark and SM. Arcades in Glicos and the old Timezone in Greenbelt, the old Ayala cinemas and the newer ones in Greenbelt. Had the best childhood memories.
Makati isn't a district but a city, the richest in the Philippines. Yes you should live in Makati if you are in the Philippines. I wonder if you've been to BGC, Taguig City too. But, Marikina City is the cleanest of all, people there are disciplined and many parks as well.
a lot of people don't know about Makati because they just think Makati is Poblacion (redlight district) and they don't even know that the nice part of Makati exists. It's much bigger than Poblacion. It's around the same size as BGC
@@rrubio6660 So many tourists think Makati is on Poblacion, because most of the hotels are in Poblacion, and the location is advertised as "Downtown Makati"
