Make a "Basic Basket Weave" Quilt with Rob!

Made this quilt for my grand daughter for Christmas. It turned out wonderful and added borders for it to fit a full size bed.

The dry erase marker line for the win!!! Mind blown!!!

I don't usually watch your videos, but this one caught my attention. It's a very pretty version of a rail fence, which I think of as one of the easiest quilts possible to make. I have always used the entire strip, and never understood why people suggested that I should not. I learned how to quilt from a 76 year old quilter who learned to quilt from her mother who learned from her mother. She told me that how you press can be as important as how you cut.

Love this fabric and pattern. During a sewing workshop I was introduced to some techniques used by industrial sewers. One such technique was to take your strips that your are sewing and drape them over your shoulder. This enables you to sew without worrying about tension caused by the strips dangling over the table.

Fun quilt, I love how bright and cheery it is, it would be a great pattern for an older kid/tween/teen. That's a great tip also about the dry erase marker, I always forget that! I have used a small strip of masking tape or washi tape to mark my spot as well 😁

I really like this quilt, I'm going to have to make it. I did have one question. I noticed your binding is a mix of the fabrics (I love the scrappy look of it). Did you hold back some pieces in order to make the border or did you order more fabric?

so the dry erase doesn't come off on the fabric and it comes off the ruler? if so this is an awesome tip for me!

Hey There Rob, I Have a question about your Sewing machine. That piece that you have next to your needle on the Sewing machine. What do you call that? & where can I purchase that? ..lol.. one more question. I have a Brother se400 embroidery sewing machine -- Would that fit my sewing machine, as well?? .. Why the shorter stitch length?

Pretty Quilt. But the way you handle and press your fabric makes me cringe. Don't get me wrong, I used to do the same thing. I've since learned from others that there is a better way to get better results. Donna Jordan of Jordan Fabrics has the best RU-vid tutorials when it comes to handling and pressing fabrics. Once I started following her techniques, my quilts not only improved 100%, I enjoyed the entire process a whole lot more. Take a look at her Mirage Quilt and watch how she touches the fabric with her hands and sets it up to be pressed with the iron especially when dealing with bias edges.
