I do not recall what it is, but I bought some temp sense devices, that are supposed to conduct enough current to power a small 5v, 12v fan like this, it closes circuit at 50° - 60°C, I saw them sused in a video a few months ago, and bought a few, and haven't it used them yet, I have laptop style fans, to use in a charge controller fan project, and several other projects, that I need to keep cool, it is awesome time we are in. Electronics are still simple enough we can still build things at home, I feeling the future, everything is going to be so small and integrated, we will be able to do little at home, ( Like the cell phones). Great video!!

At what temperatures is this system working at. I need a cooling fan for my Ham radio amplifier, currently when the RF amp gets hot, the transieiver starts to drift off frequency and when the transeiver cools down, it will drift back on its set transmitting frequency. The transmitter operates on 13.8 Volts DC and draws upwards to 50 amps. For reasons unknown, the manufacturer doesn't have a cooling fan installed on the final amplifier stage which when properly tuned, the transiever transmits around 500 watts. I recently purchased a 120mm x 120mm fan that is virtually silent at 1,850 rpm's (revolutions per minute) and is designed for computer CPU's. .now it's just a matter of mounting the fan, I could turn it on manually, but I thought it would be nice to have it on an automatic circuit set a a pre determined Fahrenheit setting. It should be, since the components are rated for a voltage higher than 5 (for the maximum input voltages) then it should work unless there is not enough voltage in which case you might need a slightly higher voltage input into the circuit.

You made it unnecessarily complicated. The heat sink and transistor was totally not needed. Next time make the video so simple a 5 year old child will understand what you are making.

I actually managed to get it working, although my variable resistor isn’t actually doing anything since it’s not enough resistance, could I actually use a fixed resistance resistor, if so what is the best resistance?and I’m going to try adding more thermistors at some point, it also has 12V power supply powering TWO 12V fans instead of one which should help push/pull the cooler air all the way through the thing hopefully making the cooling much more efficient.

Yes dear friend ,,,,,,, but according your room temperature resistor value maybe little bit up or down ,,,,,, if you use variable resistor no any problem with any supply ,,,,,,

I have multiple questions; are any of those blue things thermistors or are only a small number of types of blue ones a thermistor, second; can ANY mosfet’s from any type of PC power supply, specifically older model pc power supply a work in place of the one your using or are there only specific models (not sure what to call them) that will work for this, also if the adjustable/variable resistor says 102 I’m assuming it’s not a 10K correct? I only ask since I’m working on a little project making a multi-usage bench power supply type thing, and the current heat switch thing might not be working but I’m not entirely sure so I just need a backup plan for cooling anything in it down if it were to somehow get too hot or something, also if the thermistors are any blue things, could I actually have multiple of them in parallel to sense a larger area for high heat or no?

Dear friend, any of those blue things are not thermistors , they are specific component ,,,,,, you can use any N channel mosfet like Z44N ,,,,,,,, ,,,,,, 102 is a 1k ,,,,, 103 is 10k ,,,,, adjust it as your wish ,,,,,,, Thank you ,,,,,,,

@@ABTabi Oh, is there a similar circuit that doesn’t require any mosfet but works just as well or no? I’m asking just in case I can’t find the right MOSFET type. Also I checked my variable/adjustable resistors and I only have 2 102’s that are fully functional and a 302, not sure of how much resistance the 302 has though, if you want I could make a list of any available possible mosfet I’ve got since you seem to know more than I do atm.

I made circuit and termistor failed short circuit (0.04 Ohm) I dont understand why, I verified 3 times the circuit. 12 V suply, IRFZ44n mosfet.

Emitter will always be the Output, also, I’m not sure if it’s just me or what but what you have described, it almost sounds like a high power NPN, PNP transistor :/

Use an lm7812 regulator to power the circuit and put a relay in the output to your fan

Yeah, a relay could be used since those don’t require high voltage inputs to switch and then you could connect the 48V power source/supply to the input connection that will then get switched to either pos A or pos B.

Thermistor (as far as I know any thermistor will do). 12V power supply/source(12V battery or 12V power supply adapter) Certain MOSfets from a variety of pc supply’s I guess A 10K variable/adjustable transistor(although you could probably use others, not sure). And also whatever your trying to make heat activated automation system for.

You probably need to make tiny adjustments to the adjustable resistor for a more smoother ON to OFF or OFF to ON transitions

Auto on/off for temp... unless your wanting an automatic on/off regular circuit in which case I need help for that as well, mainly the off part without any IC’s in the circuit
