OOOH - genius! (and i must have said that at least a dozen times!!) Thanks Rob. I try and watch each show, even if the completed project may not be something I may do - it's all the tips you share!!!
There are times I watch your videos while I hand quilt and love seeing the machine use. One of these days I hope to have a quilting machine. But for now, I am enjoying the hand quilting process. I would love to see a few Halloween quilt ideas.
A wonderful idea for all those floral scraps and fabrics that need a quilted 'home'. There are so many ways swirling around in my mind here; and ways to incorporate this plan to specific quilts for specific projects Ihave in mind., with color palettes of my chossing to individualize a quilt for the peeps I have in mind. TFS.
Rob I totally agree with Peter below ....my mind is whirling!! I have the very perfect fabric I have been hoarding but couldn't quite commit to using... THIS is it!! Thank you for doing what you do darlin boy... I look forward to every video. Sail on... I'll be here watchin!
Rob I am completely new to quilting and, oh my days this quilt is BEAUTIFUL! Thank you for making it. I’m going to make a smaller version then work my way up to this. Just love it. Man Sewing is fast becoming my favourite channel. Keep doing what you do.🖖🏽
This is awesome! Yes I know that word is over used but this is! I would never thought about cutting each of the flowers out and then scurrying them to the top and then Quilting them. You always inspire me to stretch my imagination. Thanks👏. Hope to see you in Houston!
I really love this tutorial. While watching my mind went out on my stash 😀. Think I'll try Christmas fabrics. They may create a lovely alternative, don't you think?
@@grandmalovesmebest hey, have you been searching through my quilts 😂 - in fact I made two quilts - a Christmas wall hanging and indeed a wreath for a round table. What about you? Have you tried this or will you try it?
I appreciate all your work and I want to make everything you make! This is absolutely beautiful! You are so talented and explain it to the point I feel like I can do it. You inspire me keep up the hard beautiful work please.
That's a fantastic idea and as always, explained really well. I have a lot of Anna Maria Horner florals and this might be just the project to use them. Thank you!
Type or words or phrase on your word processing program, then choose your font and size. Trace it backward onto your featherweight fusible so that when you turn it over, your fabric side is up and the words are written correctly. Since I am directionally impaired, I always do a single small letter first (a throw away) just to make sure I've got my mind and my turns going in the same direction.
wow this is amazing. i love what you had made. I was looking for ways to quilt a panel that I have on a quilt top that has words in it. I am a beginner quilter and I love absorbing different techniques. I know you said that you had clam quilts on the blue circle and outlined the letters...maybe I will do that
I just watched this with volume muted, can't find my headphones and the tv is on...I didn't miss a thing. Seriously, a hearing impaired person could watch Robs tutorials..his hands tell the complete story 💓
My Windows phone doesn't get the onscreen links and was surprised that you didn't give the link to the flanged boarder in the description. Would you give it again? Thanks for another great video. ❤🌅🌵
I love this project and I love how in-depth you go into how to do each step. I love it so much that I decided to order the fabric. My question is, when ordering the fabric on the material list, I don't seem to see a fabric that has the lime green and the turquoise rose bouquet that you use in your demo. Are they mixed within the yardage that is on the list?
Since I'm a beginning quilter (only on my second easy one) , I must have missed a step in this wonderful video- how do the cut out flowers stick in place before ironing? Did you put the fusible web on the back of all the fabrics before cutting out the flowers? Thanks...
Hi Lori! The cut out flowers stay in place before ironing by using fusible web that has already been placed on the backs of the flowers and peeled before placement. I hope this helps!
What iron is that? I've used Rowenta for decades but arthritis is limiting its use bc it is heavy. Also, I don't get how you got the lettering. I like adding words on my work. I've used a little emb machine then learned how to make different letters using graph paper. A bit old fashioned. And nothing as fancy as you have.
Hey Karen! You're right, scissors wouldn't be quite as easy. Rob invented the Shark for this very reason, he love to applique and he is often cutting out tiny little shapes. If you can, we'd suggest investing in a Shark for this one and other applique projects, it's a game changer! www.missouriquiltco.com/shop/detail/70023/missouri-star-quilt-co/rob-appell/man-sewing-shark-applicutter-rotary-cutter
Hi Karen! It was due to the frustrations of trying to scissor cut appliques that Rob invented the Shark. He now sees it as the rotary tool for applique. In other words, we do not cut our patchwork with scissors any longer. We use 45mm cutters and plastic rulers. I suggest you try a 18mm - 14mm cutter. Rob uses the Shark because he finds that it really works the best. The smaller blades were designed for this style cutting years back, but nobody was teaching it. Rob encourages that you would consider treating yourself to a cutter for applique.
What a great idea for an art quilt. My mind is going into overdrive thinking about the possibilities. Thanks for being a shining light for us guys who like sewing, quilting and machine embroidery.
I like this quilt. It's very pretty. But I will not ever make it. I just do not like to do applique. I was forced to do applique when I was younger and I still don't like doing it.
Another amazing tutorial! I really like your idea of fussy cuts, it’s really not that fussy. I think I am going to do a Christmas wreath for my mom, she loves my firsts. For my own wreath, I want to find a floral line like you chose, so it all works together. Thank you for being you and posting awesome tutorials!
Great thinking, Great teaching, Great wall hanging. Love your caffeine state it gets us through the teaching without being boring. Again Great job!🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
Hi Eleanor! You may just do the straight stitching on the appliques. If the project is washed the fabrics will fray a bit, usually back to the stitched line. This can make it a bit messy, but the pieces will not fall off. Rob prefers to vacuum or lint roll his wall hangings to avoid a real washing once they get dusty from being on display.
