Make a "Power" Saving Device at Home (According to load) 

I have one of these at home. It saves me about 15% of energy with 350V 5uF capacitor. But I see that a lot of people here are confused, so I will explain. In alternating current (AC) there are 3 types of energy: Active, Reactive and Apparent powers. Apparent power is a sum of reactive and active powers. Reactive power is generated by inductors and capacitors in a diferent directions and it is a WASTED POWER. Devices has more inductive components so to reduce reactive power capacitors are used. in this way you have more active power which can be used. So that's how you safe the energy. However it does not safe the money because you are paying only for ACTIVE power. It is used when you are powering devices on your own source of energy for example I use it on my wind turbine.

Howdy. One's kWh meter does not care about reactive power. It only registers active power. Not reactive power. One will be billed for active energy only. Personally I would assemble the capacitor in a metal box. For fire protection. Also I would use fuses in both the phase and neutral. Running it will compensate inductive loading. Yes. But switching on and off may cause strong arcing in contact points possibly shortening the switch life span. The mains may be dirty. It may contain high levels of the third harmonic and multiples. Transformers and motors on the grid cause these. It is a result of magnetization. The capacitor may run warm and deteriorate fast. Eventually it may develop gleaming inside and explode. I see only one use. It may clean up the power to one's Hi-Fi system when plugged to the same receptacle as is the Hi-Fi. The clip shows the capacitor connected to the plug using only basic insulation wires. One should use appliance cables. They have a mantle thus delivering two layers of insulation. Regards.

Well Physics behind this is that Capacitor does the power factor correction in inductive load

It is recommended to connect the capacitor (condenser) directly parallel to the inductive load (not on a separate socket)

If you think adding a 3,5pf capacitor across the mains will help have a look in most flourescent fittings. It is a dangerous con. It will not work it is dangerous. Very silly stupid etc Taught electrical installation and have caused another similar site (Ecovolt) to be shut down this week.

some electrical experts says its not totaly saving energy because when you measure it with kilowatts there's no changes, but i say power meter outside your home is amps base not in kilowatts. I prove it here in phillippines but thing is energize first the capacitor then the loads.

Thanks for these Power Factor Correction ideas. I was using it for the last 10 years. If possible, design a simple PFC circuit with relays to be used, condensers to be used & incorporate in the design means to avoid 'hunting'.

How to use

Just voogus! Brother, every fan or motor has its own capacitor for having required electricity. If you use extra-capacitor for it, it will give less electricity, then load's speed must be low according to same percent of electricity. What's the benefits?
