Handy trick. I've been just using my band saw to make triangular knobs and such, but I like these. I usually just use CA glue to hold a regular nut sunk into the top of the knob, but I think my next ones will be made of some really hard wood (I have a slab of Ipe, for example), and I'll use my tap & die set to thread the wood itself.

great idea and definitely still have room for upgrades, like better (easier) solution to hold the knob down while drilling or instead the pin use a spring-loaded ball which locks into the groove so that you no need to pull the pin out and put back every time think about it I know you can do it my friend

Subsequent upgrades were quickened by shortening the bolts and sandwiching the bolt spacers, The next upgrade is to remove the nut and hold it with a small toggle clamp. I love your videos and learn something from each one. It looks like you might need to make some longer hold downs for the drill press, would have been useful when drilling in those smaller pieces where you were only able to hold one side. I guess doing the layout for the amount of holes to drill and how you made those marks would be something I would have loved to see.

Very good jig..... to make it better....please add a small thin nail at the bottom of the dowel - like a board pin 📌. This will help turn the knob blank in the jig without having to use the steel scribe used here.. Hope it improves the already well designed jig.
instead of putting the wing nut and washer on every time could you make a strap attached to the positioning pin that you could hold down pressure on the knob material and be easier to lift the pin out also

I made a jig just like this. Accuracy & proper drilling speed is very important. How do you prevent blow out or tear out at bottom portion of knob when doing your peripheral hole drilling? Especially if doing softwoods like pine.

@@TachiOhyo56 I use a forstner bit to make the small holes and a hole saw to cut & separate the knob. When making the small holes with the forstner bit I get done blowout at bottom edge. My speed is correct.
