They are beautiful Matt! I think its Jonas Olsen who is the originator of this much copied design, well worth a follow!

Yeah Jonas channel is pretty cool. I never knew he was the originator of that design, looks like a simplified celtic wolf amulet to me. He probably should of copyrighted it, he would be rich now.

Really nice. People do like stuff like this. And its always nice to be able to have a range of prices if you are selling your creations. I think that a small pendant like this makes a great little charm to put on a kiking staff/stick. With a small bit of leather or cord, this can add a ton if cool factor to your walking aid of choice.

Really like the way you demonstrate “burr use” and performance. Adding the “eye detail” is nice… I wish Elm and Yew wood was more available in the US Southeast. Maybe I just have not located a source yet…

Cheers, if it makes you feel any better those woods are pretty hard to get here as well.

Wow that’s amazing work on such a small piece. Kutzall burrs are the popular choice for many wood workers. In every video I watch you work I can see why.

Thanks Linda. Yes kutzall is my number one burrs. Cheers 👍

Very nice mate, I shit myself every time I try do dainty little carvings, very easy to take too much off.

Great project idea. Towards the end you mentioned a diamond burr. Are there any burrs or bits that you would not use on wood projects?
@MattCarves
@MattCarves Год назад
Yes, I use them on wood. However sometimes they are sold as stone carving burrs or glass engraving

Hey Matt it's Larry. Need a little advice. What is better to you carving hard and wide open or light and half open. RPM wise on your rotary tool? On wood cutters or aluminum cutters. Some insight 🪵be great! 🤣 get it lol. Little wood joke. ✌️♥️😀
@MattCarves
@MattCarves Год назад
Hi Larry. It's kind of a hard question to answer as sometimes I do both. Sometimes I will go full rpm at the start to get rid of the bulk, then I go lighter for details and may lower rs as well. Your question is a good video idea. Cheers Larry.

Hey, i was thinking about buying a dremel and i don't really know where to choose from, could you give me some advice?

Hi, I carve with the dremel 4000. I bought it from my local hardware shop. I buy them as a kit which means it comes with a few accessories and also the flexshaft which is good for carving. The kit I get is called Dremel 4000-4/50 Rotary Tool Kit Cheers from Matt

Brilliant thanks Matt. Do you sell your jewelry online? I would love to buy something for my wife. If so what is your website?
@MattCarves
@MattCarves Год назад
Yes I do, but unfortunetly our NZ rules for over seas shipping makes it not worth while. So I just sell in NZ. your welcome to look though felt.co.nz/shop/liberation

Hi, I love this tutorial. I'm new to woodwork and was just wondering if beeswax ensures the wood is waterproof? or at least water resistant? Thanks 😊
@MattCarves
@MattCarves 8 месяцев назад
It would make it water resistant. If you are going to make wooden jewelry every once and a while, replenish it with a coat of beewax. 👍

@MattCarves thank you! i was also wondering what wood is best for beginners and some pretty woods that will make good pendants? I'm going to try find elm but do you have any other recommendations?😊
@MattCarves
@MattCarves 8 месяцев назад
@tarynwilkins2114 best woods for beginners, cedar is good, softer woods generally. Good woods for pendants black walnut, mahogany is a nice dark brown, yew burl.
