In this video, I show you my process of making wooden rings with only a Dremel and simple tools. This is a very simple process and anyone can make a ring like this with a rotary tool, a saw, and some sandpaper.
In this video, I mainly use the Dremel 4000 to make the wooden ring
I will make more ring-making videos in the future where I include the use of epoxy, inlays, copper wire, metals. so be sure to stay tuned.

Will this work for stone also using diamond burrs
@rotarycrafts8760
@rotarycrafts8760 Год назад
Hi. Thats I good question. I have not tried it. But I guess it would be hard to fit the stone onto the Dremel and use it as a mini lathe like I do in this video. But there must be a way to do it I think, but it will take longer than when we are working with wood. Might have to try that sometime.

Really like this vid. Just got a $40 dremel kit off Amazon and made my first ring and it turned out really well but was too fragile and snapped while I was sanding it. Rewatched this for the second attempt and now know what I did wrong
@rotarycrafts8760
@rotarycrafts8760 Год назад
Thanks. Yeah, some woods can be quite fragile. The one I made of pine was not the strongest. Good luck with your future crafts.

@@rotarycrafts8760 Hello! Do you have any recommendations for strong but common woods I can use for a ring? I am making one for my husband as a gift, and was thinking pine, because we go hiking a lot and there are lots of downed pine trees out there… I want this to last years though, and would hate for it to break.

Better with veneer strips

Hi! Why did you leave the ring in the oil for so long? Most people I watch on RU-vid just coat it and wipe off the excess.

Where did you get the rag/towel you used at the end of the video? Is there a name for that style? It reminds me a lot of the ones my grandfather had in my home country, but they are very difficult to find in USA.

Can you easily explain the sandpaper grits you used in order?
@rotarycrafts8760
@rotarycrafts8760 Год назад
Hi. I do not really follow any grits strictly. But i start with the coarsest i can find. 40/60 then go to about 120, 180, and 240. You could go finer if you want. The easiest way is to finish sanding the outside of the ring when it is still attached to the spinning Dremel, this goes super fast. Sanding the inside of the ring is a little bit more tedious.

Love how you basically turned it into a mini-lathe! How did you do that btw? Like did you use a bit or just a piece of steel?
@rotarycrafts8760
@rotarycrafts8760 Год назад
It is so useful. Used a cut of alan key ( since its not round it won't slip), drilled a hole in the ring, hammered the Alan key into the hole and tightened the other side of the Alan key to the Dremel. ( Alan key must be 1/8" or smaller).
@ZeDoctorTod
@ZeDoctorTod Год назад
@@rotarycrafts8760 Thank your for your quick response! I didn't want to cut an Allen key, so instead, I drilled a tiny hole into the middle of my ring, then screwed in the Mandrel bit. This worked perfectly btw - hope you get to try it!
