The section where Donna replaces the piece in the middle is really amazing -- she makes it look so easy and I would never have attempted it before now. Great instruction! I really enjoyed both Christmas trees and i learned how to change a color block in the middle of the tree. I loved the old fashion tree but i think I prefer the new Christmas tree more- I like the gold of the quilting better too. I was thinking of add- on surprise presents on the tree; - little small ones and maybe Kids or grand kids names. i have 10! It really excites me to make this. SoooCheerful! Thanks Donna!

I like the tree with the blues: it reminds me of Eric Carle’s book illustrations. And watching the “minor surgery” was terrific help! Now I know I don’t have to take the whole row of stitching out. And the information on putting the top off-grain is genius. Thank you.

Absolutely love the traditional colors for the tree quilt, along with your sewing machine quilting. Love the yellow-gold quilting from the long-arm design on the more modern looking tree quilt. Both would grace an entryway beautifully. Thank you for commenting on your start-and-stop appearance on the back of the traditional tree. I've so far have machine quilted only one outside door hanging binded block pattern. It bothered me that the stops and starts showed on the back; totally thought that I had done something wrong. Now I know that I didn't. Thank you! My heart was in my throat watching you replace the center of your green tree. Been there, done that, tho on the side, and my heart still stopped while I worked correcting my error. Now I know that I am a normal patchwork quilter, albeit a new one. Thank you, Donna! Truly, much love. Beautiful work.🎄🎄

I really like the “non-traditional” tree - it really “pops” to me. When you are doing your cutting, do you measure from the inside of the pinked edges of the fabric or from the outside? How much of a difference is it? I’d love to make it, but worry I’ll do it incorrectly. Thank you!
@robinsiler6645
@robinsiler6645 3 года назад
I like them both. I could do a traditional one for my mom and mother-in-law and non-traditional for other friends and family. For those asking about how to measure fabric with pinked edges, most manufacturers that use the pinked edges measure from the inside - the dip - of the pinked edge. That’s where I measure from and I use that as the edge for my seam allowance.
@jomercer21113
@jomercer21113 3 года назад
It depends upon the manufacturer--some measure the full width at the peaks, some are in the valleys and some are somewhere in between. I always double check before I start a project.

I just want you to know I followed you thru the Dresden Bloom tutorial and it AMAZED ME! I have NEVER quilted in my life. My Mom took a box of clothing straps and did it all by hand. It hung from the ceiling and large nails were used in the frame holes to hold it tight and her stitches were perfect! I want to thank you for the time you take to explain the way you do a quilt pattern. It took me about 2 then 3 videos of the same Dresden pattern to finally catch all my boo-boos.
