Sitting in the dark, disgusted with myself while I regard these 3 unfinished paintings I can’t seem to get going on - went for a procrastination escape on RU-vid & your video was the first thing I saw. Thank you for saving my life. 🙏🏼

My husband and I have had that same conversation in the beginning of video because my mind has been everywhere and nowhere following my Grandma's recent death. This video came at such a perfect time for me and your words really helped to sort some things out mentally. I haven't picked up a brush since she passed, but I think it's time. This was very eye opening, sometimes we get so wrapped up in the stresses of our life that we feel like we can’t find motivation, but we can use that stress to reflect and express ourselves creatively. that is very cool advice 🥰

That painting is beautiful. Oof. I'm feeling overwhelmed, having to prepare for a move in less than a month, having to devote yet more time at work or asleep to recover to cover the costs when all I want is to create and to rest. Instead I have to pack all but the bare minimum of my art supplies away. Stuck in circumstances that keep me falling behind when I try to get ahead. My friends have all moved and I'm not a social media person. What do I feel? Worn. Wrung. Empty. My canvases and tablets and untouched clay reflect me perfectly.

That first bit in your artist statement about receding water not being lost really hit me. I'm going through a long and tedious process of healing physical/mental health and traumas, on top of the existential dread from the current state of the world. I've been really hard on myself for not being able to "keep up as an artist" while going through pretty much the grief of my life as I knew it + an identity crisis. It's reassuring to have this image of the water going away but not disappearing forever. Thank you! Also, I like this format for this painting! It's a bit unusual and it suits the subject very well.

I often wonder how to put those thoughts into art. I lean on the illustrative side of art but I feel my pieces are become stagnant, pretty but have no meaning or secret. I feel it lacking and I feel those thoughts and feeling encroaching more and more into my mind. Does all art have to have a meaning, and how do I put more meaning into my art. Im reaching a very introspective part of my life and feel like I am at a loss in how to express that. Thank you for being honest, and bringing pressing thoughts to our art!

Not only does that look amazing Robin, but I think you are the most artistic person on this platform! 9n top of making art, you also have an extremely artistically spiritual way of delivering that art to your audience. You're a perfect mix of that flighty art teacher and the over analytical one that most High schools seem to provide however, where they seem perpetually high, you seem well put together. I normally really like the way you talk, but something about the voiceover this time was off. The way you kept going up and down in pitch was kind of distracting. It was hard to focus on what you were saying. (Not trying to be mean or anything, just wanted to give some feedback. I do love your videos!)

Sorry to hear about your loss, but wanted to say I love your art and your videos, continue doing what you do. Every artist including myself go trough emotions and we can use that as direction towards our next piece or maybe use art as a way to better deal with what is in our minds.

Post 2: I am feeling a bit lost. A bit depressed and my grief is a whole another kind of grief. Not to compare with yours. Please don't get me wrong. PTSD put me in a hermit life, thinking about all the People I lost /stepped away from. But the human spirit is so FREACKING STRONG. very hard to break. Still I have trouble picking up my brush. Robin, I try to be a serious artist, I more or less succeed. I have a guilty pleasure though, that is watching younger RU-vid artist's channels. The majority of these are channels headed up by young, conventionally attractive, non controversial, upbeat folks who test art hacks, open art subscription boxes etc. I am entertained by them and waste too much time watching them. It was through this habit of mine that I came across your channel from a collaboration kind of thing you did during some conference with a couple or so of the RU-vid art folks I watched. So I subscribed and over time, I have to say you have shown yourself to be above and beyond. You have a bit of controversy, you do art, and most importantly you let people know that it is okay to not always be totally okay. You open up and present your truth. I am sure it has cost you subscribers who can't be bothered by more serious and introspective content. I will no doubt never cross paths with you, but I respect and love you for what you do.

It feels like I don't know what I want as an artist. I would like to have artist job - but there is nothing like that in my country for my level. I would prefer to work on art as art and not just product. I just can't draw with freedom that i used to have when I was younger, it feels like I'm locked in metal box while outside of it is all of the inspirations and freedom I need.

You mentioned the people you met living in different areas of the country. I'd be really interested to hear how you personally have made connections with people. One of the main factors putting me off pursuing art as a career is how isolating it can be to work alone at home. I don't know how I would go about meeting new people.

This year has been taking such unexpected turns with where I'm going and making me think about what do I really want to put out in my art. I think this video was so on time I resonate with it so deeply. I'm trying to move from hyper realistic portraits to surrealism and conceptual art that is a reflection of my mind. It's left me doing nothing but thinking deeply for the most part and making crappy sketches of the random images that flash through my mind. I loved this video, thank you for talking about this❤️
