Hi friends! I'm Jennifer, a fifty-something wife and mother of 7 children ages 10 - 26. We are Catholic. We homeschool. We cook from scratch. We farm cranberries. We drink coffee. We advocate for Down syndrome awareness. We are loud. We are chaotic.
Here I'll share vlogs about all these things, what I'm doing that works and what I've tried but didn't work. I hope to encourage you in your journey through motherhood, homeschooling, learning to cook, and growing in your faith through it all.

Do you ever make the pull-apart pizza with the biscuits? For a 9x13 I use 2 (sometimes 3) cans, cut into quarters, and you can do a number of themes... Mexican- salsa, olives, cheese, (anything you can put on a taco); Italian-spaghetti sauce can, browned burger (opt), cheese; Pot pie- chicken chunks or can, cream of chicken, frozen carrots & peas, cheese. These are very very versatile. And kids love them.

You are such an inspiration to me as a homemaker/homesteader/wife/mom/woman. I appreciate the love that you have for your children and husband and I appreciate all the work you put into your home and children. I think you and I are about the same age and it lifts my spirits to see someone our age still looking forward and actively living and planning. I have so much energy and so many dreams--I'm not at all ready to "settle down". lol I can't wait to start seeing cranberries on our store shelves (soon, I think!) and I plan to support that economy! My daughter and I plan to can enough relish to feed an army. We love it!! I had two bags left in the freezer from last year and we made a batch of cranberry sauce and put in the fridge (only 2 pints...not worth heating the canner). Thanks for all that you share!
@acountrylife
@acountrylife 10 месяцев назад
I feel the same way. There’s so much to live for. If you make cran sauce and put the canning lid on when it’s still really hot, you can keep the jars in the fridge for up to 3 months. If I only make 6 or so jars that’s what I do because you’re right, no sense getting out the canner for that small amount.

@@acountrylife Thanks! I can't wait to get my hands on cranberries and make a huge batch of sauce, but like you mentioned, I just refrigerated it since our recent batch was such a small amount. Biscuits freeze well even the canned ones I put them in the door of my freezer same as cinnamon rolls crescent rolls pull apart bread pizza dough any breads that come in the can i freeze Been doing that several months cause our IGA always has canned dough reduced Occasionally the biscuits don't get the big rise but they will still rise up a good amount 95 percent of the time they rise just as good as fresh biscuits You got to pull them out the freezer a couple hours ahead of time to bake if they are still frozen they'll not rise as well Let thaw put come to room temperature and they'll rise perfect

Hello Jennifer and sweet family! Everything always looks so delicious. I plan on canning lots of cranberries sauce and juice this year. My mother (she is 83) loves cranberries and I do too, so I will be giving her part of it. She is not able to can anymore so I will do it for her. I seen a doe bring her fawn to eat apples from my apple tree and didn’t have the heart to scare them away. Everyday she would come eat the apples with her baby and I just enjoyed watching them. I hope everyone is doing good and healthy. Have a blessed day sweet family!

How do you get rid of the canning water with broken glass chards? It hasn't happened to me YET, but would like your advice. Thanks.
@acountrylife
@acountrylife 10 месяцев назад
I take out the good jars then slowly pour water down the drain until I can see what glass pieces there are. Keep pouring until only glass is left and dump it in the garbage. Then I give the canner a good rinse. Usually the break is a pretty clean break resulting in 2 pieces, the main jar and the bottom.
