oh absolutely, same. My dad would do this sometimes when he would make me instant ramen as a kid and I would always call it "fancy ramen" because the flavor was amped up so much in such a great way hahaha. soooo worth doing!
Did anyone taught you this? This was actually one of the included packets in Nissin Noodles in the late 80s- early 90s here in the Philippines. It really does amp the flavor up. 😊
Wow thanks so much for trying it out! It definitely is surprising how it changes it so much with just a few ingredients. Sorry I just saw this video today!
I fry onions then boil the water in the same pot. Then add water chestnuts, frozen peas, even okra-- also adds a thickness-- whatever veggies 🌶 i have. Oh and crumble up a sheet of seaweed. An egg stirred up... endless possibilities
Hello thereeee i saw this recipe and tried this myself, and initially, i found it lacking something.... but then i added a secret ingredient....SESAME OIL! You should try adding sesame oil, OMG, its a great additionnn!!!
@@emmymade so, I did a lil twist to this delicious ramen recipe since I'm a TOTAL ramen girl! 😘✌🤗 I used regular sandwich mayo and I added a lil bit of pepper flakes to spice it up with the ramen base soup the kind of ramen brand I also used was Instant Panda chicken flavor they have beef flavor too! Once I'd JUST finished this amazing golden meal a while ago! It's mostly my midnight snack too! 🤗💗 this WAS a quick recipe to make and I TOTALLY LOVED the creamyness and the green onions and the pepper flakes that I added! Even if this vid was posted a yr ago, Tysm 4 sharing n doing this ramen recipe! You deserve an "Emmy Award" 4 best cooking teacher and a subscriber! 🤗💕✌💗💗😍😍🍲🍲
Yeeeessss!! The peanut butter!!! My favourite instant Raman recipe is peanut butter, soy sauce, favour packet and sesame oil all mixed together to make the sauce. Top that with grated cucumber. The grated cucumber sounds weird but it is soooo gooood!
I just wanted to let you know that I've been struggling with depression lately, and your videos always lift my spirits. Your sunny personality and passion for what you do is infectious. Thank you!❤️
I went through depression for 6 years and cooking videos (always Emmy's) were such a huge part of my recovery. RU-vid chefs are always so much fun and so relaxing to watch!!
Shannon... Whatever life has thrown at you that is getting you down, just remember "This too shall pass" Don't hesitate to reach out if you need someone to talk to, or even just to listen. Hope things start looking up soon
Hey Shannon. Hope you're doing well today. And if not, that's ok, Take some time to rest. I hope youre feeling more like yourself soon (love from the universe)
Glamourizing my instant ramen is one of my favorite things to do when I want a low effort snack. I usually just begin by boiling water and adding frozen veggie mix, garlic paste, cilantro paste ( maybe chopped up red onion if I’m lazy lazy than usual) and the ramen mix when I add the noodles, I wait till then soften and add a egg to the pot. Seriously amazing lazy food I 10/10 reccomend
Where do you find “garlic paste”? This isn’t a regular item here in our grocery stores. Does it come in a squeeze tube? A jar? Is it blended raw garlic 🧄 , or roasted garlic?
I watch Emmy when I'm sad or stressed out, even on the verge of panic attack and her cute energy takes me out of my own head. I truly love and appreciate her.
After watching this video, I did try making this in 2 different ways. I tried doing it exactly how it's done on this video and I was very impressed on how it turned out. It was indeed good. Now, I also tried using just the regular mayonnaise and garlic powder and it was surprisingly good, but not as good as using Kewpie mayonnaise and grated garlic. It's worth a try. Thank you Emmy! 😄
If you're Filipino, I tried this using LUCKY ME instant beef noodles and it taste SUPER awesome!! I also use sesame oil, black pepper and garlic powder (cuz i love garlic) you can also use chili oil if you want it spicy. You can also use the pork version (and also the spicy versions) but NOT the chicken one cuz i dont think it would taste good and havent tried it BUUT its up to you! XD Using mayo and grated garlic are such a life changer! Thank you Emmy!
As a single guy, these types of vids are a godsend! I love experimenting with different combinations . My mom would drain most of the water, add a lil butter, throw in peas, broccoli, and an egg then top with parmesan cheese....so good! Keep up the great work and cheers from Vancouver Island , BC Canada!!!!
@@melskunk there are some hacks to make hellmans more like kewpie! Not exactly the same but would work well enough for this! Google kewpie mayo substitute or kewpie mayo copycat.
I ordered the Samyang spicy ramen 5 pack on Amazon because of you! I made the spicy cheddar one today and I thought my eyes were going to bleed and melt right out of my head. 😂 Worked better than Claritin. I can breathe again!
i usually add bean sprouts, cabbage, some kind of meat, and seaweed to my ramen to make it more appealing to me. Now i can never go back to eating cheap ramen without trying to make it a bit fancy xD
I just tried this with regular Mayo in place of kewpie and it’s amazing. I used Nissan Raoh soy sauce flavor instead of the one used in the video. It came out so rich and creamy. Thanks for another great post Emmy :)
definitely gonna try this. I usually add veggies like cabbage, bean sprouts, mushrooms, and even tomatoes but I've never thought of mayo and raw egg. Yummy!😋
Rhode Island must be an expensive place to live. Sapporo Ramen is 49 cents here and Maruchan is 39 cents. If you add an egg, Kewpie mayo, garlic and green onions to ANY ramen it'll be great. Thanks, Emmy! You're still the greatest!!
I just made this and it came out dangerously delicious 😩 I loved it! I added some corn, a soft boiled egg and a slice of spam since i didn’t have chasu. It was soooo good and I’m afraid that I’m hooked.
To be fair Emmy makes quite often a lot of fthings that nobody would risk wasting ingredients on😳 Then theres the fact that shes amazing cook and a lot of her experiments I wont be able to repeat any time soon
I cook the noodles most of the way through then when it has about a min left I mix in the seasoning packet along with teriyaki and soy sauce to taste and an egg then mix it in till the noodles are done then after I put in in a bowl I add crushed salted seaweed snacks and my husband absolutely loves it
after a long day of lectures this really hits hard omg. this is so good, its literally the best thing you can make with a limited pantry, i am so thankful i found this video, if anyone has doubts, please try it it will blow your mind. if you like ramen, you will love this.
Thanks for turning this to my attention, Emmy! I make one more addition to this hack, and that is melting 1-2 slices of American cheese in the pot right after the noodles have cooked and before adding some of the broth to the egg mixture. It makes a huge difference in adding to the creaminess of the broth!
Ramen is just a good starting point to be creative and add whatever you have on hand or other special ingredients. Most of the time I add chicken, beef or pork and appropriate veggies.
@@sonogabri1 No way, need that flavor that comes in the packet. Rather than throwing it away, just use half of a packet instead of the whole thing. There's no point to eating Ramen unless you use the flavor packet that comes with it.
I’m from North Carolina where Duke’s/Hellman’s Mayo reigns supreme, but since coming back from Japan I’ve been a diehard kewpie user. Sandwiches, ramen, quick salad dressing, etc. Great on everything.
If you haven't tried this Ramen recipe you are missing out. It is amazing. I will never just eat plain ramen ever again, Thank you Emmy for showing us this recipe! 5 stars for sure. And to add do not omit the garlic it is the star of the show. I just used the cheap ramen.
I add 2 tablespoons of cornstarch to my ramen. It thickens the meal and makes it so creamy. Thanks for the video Emmy, i will be sure to try this myself.
My way of eating ramen if anyone wants to try it. In a pot put chopped tomato, chopped onions, minced garlic, a spoon of soy sauce and a little bit of butter. Once that's sauteed, add the recommended amount of water and the flavoring. Wait until boiling and add the noodles, let them cook halfway and add an egg. Cook completely and enjoy. You can add lemon juice and Valentina if you like ✨
I found Sapporo ramen at the store today so I made this for dinner. It was absolutely delicious. I added some mushrooms and green onion to it. I'll definitely have it again.
I love adding mushrooms, rice vinegar, ginger, and Valentina hot sauce to my ramen. Now I have a new option to try out for a late night meal 💜 Also thank you for promoting accessible reproductive health services!
I've used milk, added mayo and eggs (like this), cheese, salsa... Basically I tried anything that sat about in my fridge/kitchen that could have spruced the cheap noodles up that was dirt cheap. But of course a really simple one is sesame seed oil, that goes a long ways.
As an American been doing this for decades, add in a few slices of american cheese and sriracha (use to just add chilli powder before I found that), toss some veggies in (fresh or pickled) and meat if you have it.. Mmmm-mmm!
@@CHANELRAY105 Was never big on boiled eggs, but I blame that on my mother she always did hard boiled eggs. But after learning to cook a soft boiled egg yeah I add those now too.
Emmy, I hope these sponsors are paying you a TON to get you to devote :90 at the beginning of your videos to their ad copy. As an advertising producer, I know how looooooong that is and how much it costs. Please don’t give it away for cheap!
I love instant Ramen. They're about 20 ¢ a piece. I like dressing mine up, too. But, I use the seasoning packet plus a bouillon cube of the same flavor. I have to eat up to 3,500 mg of sodium a day just to keep my levels normal. So, yeah, I even salt my pickles.
Ana Kelly: OMG😵, me too!!!! I'm not so alone in the world!!!👏🏻 I have a tough time keeping all of my electrolytes up, but sodium is especially HARD to keep at high enough levels to keep me alive! Then I started eating ramen everyday or nearly everyday, and my sodium levels are much easier to build and maintain. I too salt my pickles, often til they're crusted over. I can always tell when my sodium is starting to drop, because I can't taste salt at all, even if I ate a whole spoonful, when it drops alarmingly low. I also found that himalayan salt works the best for me, because it contains sodium, potassium magnesium and calcium. My magnesium issues disappeared when I discovered himalayan salt. My doctor was fascinated when I told him that I can tell by how the cramp behaves which electrolyte (or electrolytes) is dropping dangerously low. Don't want to frighten you, but make sure to keep those levels up: severely low sodium causes the brain stem to collapse, then death. Terrifying. You are in my prayers. 🙏🏻 Stay well.
I came back here just to say that I have tried this just now and it really tastes more luxurious than just normal noodles... And the ingredients are easy to get so, I give it a 10/10
Went to our supermarket today and in the international section they had fruit mochi. I finally decided to try them since you raved about them. Bought hami melon and mango. Was pretty good. Maybe next time when I feel more adventurous I'll try the sweet red bean paste ones 😀
Oh, the sweet red bean paste is the BEST! It's the only way I'll consume beans because I hate beans with a passion but that stuff is unlike anything you'd ever expect. 💖
I just tried this out, it was great! We don't have Japanese mayo so I just used ordinary mayo but with the smallest amount of banana ketchup to add that sweetness. I also added sesame oil and imo it was a game changer
you can add an abundance of items I start by also adding some fish balls and squid and some med shrimp. There is a variety of veggies you can play with as well. The scrambled egg is a must.
I love you Emmy. I just bought Kewpie on Amazon this month. It's eggy and a bit tangier than American mayonnaise, I love it. I used some in a cheese sauce with garlic and soft white cheese with cornstarch. I cooked chicken and added the sauce on top, let it finish cooking 1 minute before serving it. I call it garlic cheesey sauce chicken. Yummy! 😋 I learned how to cook from my family and friends who are cook's for restaurant's. It takes practice and skills to cook like a professional. I love cooking. I think of it as being art and poetic. It helps me to relax and release stress. 👍
I tried this and loved it!! Definitely better than I expected... (btw I used chicken flavour noodles and regular mayo) My whole family loved it but I didn't tell them there was raw eggs in it 😅
Me too! Except I thought, since I’ve got the microplane out, why don’t I grate in a carrot 🥕 (the only fresh vegetable in my fridge), and it totally just blended in. A little sprinkle of chopped peanuts or pistachios adds a bit of crunch too. I bet this would be an easy way to get vegetables and egg into picky little kids too!
My husband does a hack similar to this too. Also I couldn’t love this chef more. She’s almost zen in her presence and presentation. I wasn’t sure about the product pitch but when I heard her support of women’s needs she totally endeared herself to me. Bless her! I’m going to watch more of her recipes now. I know that sounds stupid maybe but I found it lovely.
I just made this and it turned out soooooo yummy, totally scratched that garlic tonkotsu itch 😭🙏 I used pork flavored ramen and my first homegrown green onions!! Def wanna try adding soft boiled egg and add some pork loin next time, too, oof the possibilities! Ty for sharing!!
Omg I was only 10 when I first found your channel...now I'm going to college. I've been looking for your channel after talking to my friends about things we grew up with and I'm so glad I found it again!
Thank you, Another ramen comfort food recipe, for when I am watching my K dramas. They always cook in them, so I have to hit the pause button, head on into the kitchen. Power of suggestion, especially for binge nights. 👍😁
I love how Emmy is so inclusive with her language and word choices, the way she presents herself is so warm and welcoming, it makes everyone feel safe!
Emmy!! You should totally make a video of your top ten favourite recipes you’ve made since you’ve tried sooo many different foods!! Much love from Ontario Canada 💙
Do you ever just stop and reflect that you are such an interesting, charming person and performer that, in the first 2 days after you post a video, it has been viewed by more than 150,000 people? And that we watch you because you bring value to our day? I’d like to thank you - and also tell you that I use your videos as examples in my public speaking (college) courses in the Zoom/podcasting era. Thank you again!
Emmy. I tried this the other night when I was home feeling sick after my second covid shot, and it was amazing. I don’t think I have ever commented on a RU-vid video but I just felt I needed to say that your lovely personality and cheerful curious attitude are so refreshing and cool. Your videos have cheered me up during sad times, and introduced me to delicious foods I never would’ve tried otherwise. You’re a treasure.
I felt inspired by you Emmy and did this at home for lunch today; oh my goodness, it’s SO GOOD!!! ❤️ I’m a complete convert, I think this is the only way I will ever eat ramen now! 🍜
Thank you Emmy. I love ramen or any noodle soup with an egg, coconut milk, shrimps or shredded cooked chicken, squeeze of a lime, Mae Ploy sauce, fried onions and green onions. Yum yum Oh lastly but not least, slices of fried tofu and fish cakes. Now I’m in heaven. Woo whoo!
I just made this dish using an inexpensive Maruchan chicken ramen. Delicious! What a total level up from the basic soup. That fresh garlic is dominant and warming. Thank you for sharing. Emmy, I watch you almost every evening before going to sleep. You have such a nice, calm spirit that makes your videos so relaxing.
I looked at the comments and I just realized I’m kinda early lol, someone told me they were having ramen for dinner and I wanted to make some then saw this video so I’m gonna try it and see how it goes!
I just made this with my fav korean ramyun (Jin spicy ramyun) and WOW IT ELEVATES IT TO ANOTHER LEVEL. I AM HOOKED!! Squeezed the heck out of my old kewpie mayo in the fridge, and the rich garlicky soupy broth really takes the cake.
Just tried this! I was so worried since I didn’t have kewpie Mayo, but I scrambled the egg with milk and sesame oil instead and it worked! I had a wonderfully rich and creamy broth.
@@haughtonjohn4029 great thank u. I did add egg to my ramen with that kewpie Mayo and it was pretty amazing the difference it made ❤️❤️ So much more creamy.
Tried this recipe and OMG is my new favorite way to eat ramen noodles! I love the fact that depending on what type of ramen flavor you have you are always going to end up with a different ramen every time
I actually tried it just now... I'm gonna be honest that I didn't like it. The mayonnaise was very off-putting. It tasted quite buttery to me and my tongue is left with this creamy buttery aftertaste 😭 (I know it sounds good but the taste is not)
Not gonna lie, I’m scared of the raw egg and only cooking it with the hot noodle water but hey, I’ll never know until I try, right? Seriously tho, is there a way to know if it’s okay or not to eat because raw egg absolutely terrifies me (more so the raw egg whites, the yolk is fine)
eggs cook at a relatively low temperature (like 70°C/160°F) and boiling water is 100°C/212°F so as long you pour it in before the water has had time to cool down, you should be fine I think 😊
FWIW I've been eating raw or under-cooked eggs my whole life. When I was young my mom made mayonnaise and egg nog with raw eggs. I like my poached eggs so soft they are a little runny. Yes, there is a slight risk if you happen to get a bad egg. I've read that statistically 1 in 1000 commercial eggs is contaminated with salmonella but I've eaten a lot more raw or undercooked eggs in my life than that and never had a problem. I've added egg to instant ramen like you would make egg drop soup and find that it really adds to the broth's mouth feel. You might try that if raw eggs sound too dangerous. I also add Tuong Ot Toi Chili Garlic Sauce, this adds a little heart but more flavor.
Using raw egg in this way is really safe, but if you're struggling with the idea of it use boxed liquid eggs, they're pasteurized so you're extra protected.
