Quemar the fox gaming and more Ahhhh you're ambidextrous! I thought that was a possibility but they're its so rare I didn't want to go with that conclusion

The Art of Deduction actually my guess was ambidextrous based on the way that book closed and how it was laying, someone right handed would often prefer to leave it on the other side as it's easier to open woth the right hand that way however with the way it sat it seemed more like something you may reach over and scribble in as you're doing something on one of the monitors with your left hand, Initially I thought this would mean him being left handed until I took a look at the placement of the second monitor which (anecdotally of the people I know) most people prefer on the opposite side to their dominant hand, this combine with the controllers and the mouse lead me to thinking if not fully ambidextrous he had practiced writing and other simplistic refined motor functions with his left like myself

Just a little addition: There actually is a power outlet visible on the very bottom (center-ish) and you can make out the european shape (round, earth pin 90° from the actual power pins). The man/boy also has a Scandinavian name (also a male name, which makes that deduction pretty easy). That makes the "parents in the military" a pretty far fetch as I can't see anything else in the picture pointing towards that, except for maybe the toy airplane which is a fighter jet with missiles attached, though from that my closest guess is that he has a small interest in military machinery. Also, I love these videos, you really learn most by just doing it ;)

CaveThief fantastic I couldn't find an outlet when I was looking at this picture but thanks for clearing that up, I have to say that by the end of editing the video I was leaning more towards him being European

The person whose desk it is is right handed due to the orientation of the laptop and the fact that many joysticks and the earphones are on the right, presumably because that was the last place they put them. They seem to do a considerably large amount of gaming because of the joystick, earphones, games on the shelf and consoles. They possibly also spend much of their time there since the desk is relatively messy, whereas if they didn't regularly use the desk, it would be more organized.

From the trophy I can tell that they are a soccer player. The expense of the computer tells me that they are somewhat rich. In the movies/games I can see the dark knight so they like action movies, or at least superheroes. The clock tells me that they are interested in science. I can see a lot of gaming equipment so they're clearly a gamer.

Hello, I was wondering if you know of a good way to practice deductions? I obviously don't have a large group of people willing to send me photos of their rooms, and my first thought (friends) was a complete disaster, as if I got anything wrong they got bored and left, saying I wasn't any good, (even if I explained beforehand I was trying to practice, not to show off). Anyways, got off on a bit of a tangent there, but are there websites for that kind of thing? Google is coming up with nothing.

Jacob Paniagua I often try to predict behaviour of people. For example go to a bar or restaurant and try to make deductions about the people you see. Once I saw a girl who was drinking alone in a pub...she had a lot of make up on and wore a nice dress though she still looked sad. So there's a nice looking sad woman who drinks in a pub alone -> its most likely that she's sad because of a date not showing up or something like that... Then a guy sat next to her and tried to impress her by telling her stories about himself... I then came to the conclusion that the girl will leave as soon as she finishes her drink because she's sad and not in the mood...and she did....that's a pretty simple and fun way to practice your logical reasoning and your observation skill...try it! Take care 💪

Brilliant deductions, I just want to add/correct some things with my own deductions. (they may be wrong as I am still relatively new to deduction but I have a good knowledge base) the "online forum" was actually steam which is for gaming. It matches your serious pc gamer especially from the large game list on the left hand side and shows his laptop is also somewhat powerful. However the razor logo appears to be a sticker and the laptop looks to be made by hp judging by the logo underneath the laptop screen. This combined with the multiple gadgets such as the joystick and holographic clock shows that he has to save money and is possibly saving for a more powerful desktop PC but due to his more impulsive behaviour he ends up spending early and is unable to save long term or he may choose a laptop as he has little room under his desk and may prefer a more portable system as suggested by the psp. the cat mouse mat also does not match his personality from the rest of his room and is quite feminine and the style of it also leads me to believe it came from his mother as a shared item. The crumbs on the mat also suggest that he eats at this desk and is there quite frequently but due to his sport trophy and mirror he is not introverted but also not fully extroverted either

A side note... my mother adopted the use of military time from her job as a nurse in a hospital where they use military time to document things like when to administer patient treatments.... and she has worked there for many many years.

I must say that I’m pretty impressed by the amount of attention you have given to the details. Although I was able to deduce almost all that you have from the picture I did so by making use of the much more easy-to-see objects/equipments. But I must ask, How much time did it take you to deduce this much information from the picture.? Because only then can I rate my own performance based on the few quick deductions I made after having paused the video for a few seconds. And as always, Nice Video.! 👏🏻👌🏻
@TheArtofDeduction_Official

Vignesh Baburaj thanks man. Well it probably took no more than 30 seconds to a minute collectively to deduce all of these things however I was writing the script as I went so I broke up my observations into chunks so it's hard to say exactly how long it took me

One random deduction that I made was that his parents were most likely in their 40s-50s, because of the fact that he has wicker containers, which were fairly popular in the '70s. This could be wrong, however, because my deduction is based on when wicker was popular in the US, and he most likely lives in Europe.

I enjoyed this video a great deal. But I wonder if you can answer a simple question for me? Can you outline the priority in which you assess each deduction category ? For example: walking into a room like the one shown in the picture, would you begin with: AGE? GENDER? FINANCIAL LEVEL? DOMINANT HAND? etc. In your other videos you've outlined the order when viewing an individual but I would like to know the order when you first see a room. Often, I find that some deductions link to others to consolidate conclusions - but the priority you give to each category is important. Interesting and informative presentation, as ever. Regards
@TheArtofDeduction_Official
@TheArtofDeduction_Official 6 лет назад
Gentleman Detective that’s a great question, with people it’s a bit easier to structure your deductions because people are quite similar in appearance however rooms and desks are more variant so I usually start with the basic and obvious things like dominant hand and approximate age and from there things will start to stand out and I’ll start to deduce. If I’m stuck I’ll just scan the environment and look for something that stands out and then start from there

This guy is Norwegian. You can tell from the name. The 24 hour system is used on all digital clocks as the am/pm system is more or less unknown there. All deductions made on that ground are therefore invalid.
@tatcHe313
@tatcHe313 7 лет назад
Green Thanks for a good reply. I agree that global mobility needs to be taken into account, however this man has three names, all disticly Norwegian. From what I know it's common for second or third generation immigrants to name their children something more friendly to the pronunciation of the locals. These names are not. And the amount of Norwegians who migrate as the first in their family is insanely low. Using this and the balance of probabilities I can only assume that the picture is taken I Norway, or at least in Scandinavia. Thoughts?
@tatcHe313
@tatcHe313 7 лет назад
Green Yeah, I understand. And I appreciate the response. I agree with your though process too.
@TheArtofDeduction_Official
@TheArtofDeduction_Official 7 лет назад
Nobody yes, you both make good points. The reason I didn't use the name was firstly because I'm not familiar with what names tie to which areas of the world although just from looking at it intuitively I imagined it was from that region of the world. I could have done some quick research to find out of course, however I didn't want to rely on the name because I wanted to show what could be deduced from the picture alone, I also admit that I was never really convinced of the military theory, and was leaning heavily toward the European theory by the end of editing. So it was a combination of not having the knowledge base and not and playing it safe.

My deductions: This person is obviously tech-savvy, and is likely an affluent gamer, as judging by the numerous gaming devices and the games themselves on the shelf. This person likely either has an above average income or is supported by someone with an above-average income, as deducted by the quality of the computer, the monitor, the speakers, and other quality items. This person obviously is not only an inside person, but is a soccer player. This person is likely a somewhat skilled soccer player, as judging from the soccer trophy on the shelf. This person is obviously not a very orderly person, as evidenced by the whole picture itself. As a guess, I'd say that this is a teenager around 17 to 18 years of age, in a slightly more well to do family.

Hey, Jordan, what's a good way to prioritize this kind of data?
@TheArtofDeduction_Official
@TheArtofDeduction_Official 7 лет назад
Jacob Thompson do a quick scan if the picture horizontally and vertically, then focus in on the major objects that stand out once you get all the major objects and start to make deductions about them you'll naturally just look over the picture again and find evidence related to the deduction you're trying to make. For example. I was trying to determine his handedness and I immediately noticed the pen and paper I started theorizing about it and looked on both sides of the desk for evidence because I know that handedness evidence will be left on either side depending on which hand is dominant, and from there I noticed all the other evidence. Something like this is different than a person. Baring obvious exceptions there is in general 1 human body, two legs, two arms, two eyes, a head, nose, ears etc etc... because of the general uniformity of the human form one can have a system of prioritization that works for an environment though thus is not the case, for certain deductions like handedness you get a feel for exactly where to look to find that information after a couple of times doing this, however for deductions specific to the environment you are observing you kind of have to feel it out a little more than with a person and let the evidence guide your eyes

Gabriel Esmabe Aside from Monographs there aren't many good books out there on deduction that I've seen other than Snoop. Lots of stuff out there on reading people but that's not exactly what I've been searching for... Most recent book I've picked up (but haven't read yet) isn't about DEDUCTION per se, but looks promising as its about everyone leaves signs that reveal their personality, and how we made intuitive predictions of people all the time, backed by psychology and brain science. The Tell: The Little Clues That Reveal Big Truths about Who We Are (by Matthew Hertenstein). Hope any of these help... Happy hunting!

Karina Cheung lol it's a little early for s challenge considering I just woke up but let's see, I'm going to say that English is either not your first language or you simply rushed through writing this, I favor the former. This is based on your spelling and grammar structure. Psychologically, asking me to make a deduction based on your comment indicates that you love seeing the proceeds in action, this combined with your age suggests that you got into deduction because you enjoy the skill for its own sake, and aren't obsessed with finding the truth because you've been lied to too many times like others. As for your question if you want to be able to remember your deductions about a person I would recommend the link memory system, I'll make a video on it soon but you can do some research on it now. It's very easy to learn how to use and you can visually tie the information you've deduced about a pedal to the person
