I show how I make money with a button maker at craft shows. I will have a button making station at my booth where kids and adults can draw and design their own buttons for $1. This is a super easy way to make a profit at craft shows and community events. Kids and adults get a huge kick out of designing buttons. You can also use the button maker to make and sell your own designs as well as take orders from bands and organizations. Subscribe for weekly woodworking projects: ru-vid.com...

These machines are great. I have the one inch one - got it about 15 years ago to make money for beer at punk shows and ever since its supplemented my income while I'm waiting for freelance jobs to roll around. The circle cutter looks like a total life changer!

I remember when we got a button maker for our hacker lab (which is now called a maker space) and it was a huge hit. I still have a lot of buttons from back then. Great tip and I can imagine those to work well on fares. Perfect opportunity for izzy swan to provide us with videos for making circle punch jig as well as a button maker ... utilising a power-drill ;) Thank you for sharing Dave!

Very cool Dave. I have learned a great deal from you. I am a retired cop on a disability retirement and currently unemployed. I wish I could support all of the Makers I watch but I just can't......now. I splurged with the help of my wife and bought a ShopBot CNC and I plan on paying it forward with this machine. I have learned so much from you, Steve Ramsey, and Jimmy and once I get going I will support you. Thanks for what you do and keep them coming. Who knew a button machine could help you make money. Thanks again.

How much does it cost to enter a craft show
@ouivalerie
@ouivalerie 7 лет назад
I think you need to pay like up to $300 dollars at events, which makes it impossible....some shows are cheaper.....Sharing table space is probably the only option so need other button makers at the same table to keep the theme the same.

Drunken Woodworker I have a question about power tools. I am a beginner at making things. So, which power tool is the best for a beginner? Or can u recommend other tools that "displaces" power tools? Or some other tips for beginner? i am sorry if the questions are too much or to big to answer here.

Do you still sell at many craft shows? How do decide which shows are worth the time (assuming your product is good)? Cool video, it's a great way to think beyond just the product you are selling. You still have to get people at your booth long enough to see what you are selling.
@MakeSomething
@MakeSomething 9 лет назад
Conrad Designs I only do juried craft shows meaning you pay an application fee and have to get picked by a jury to get in. These types of shows are way more successful than ones at your local school or church because the higher quality vendors brings the paying crowd in.

You stole my idea! ;-) I've been doing this at craft shows and fairs for a few years now. I make the 2 3/8" buttons and have an assortment of pens, markers and crayons that I set out for kids. I also have adhesive googly-eyes and stickers to decorate the buttons with. If electricity will be available, or if we'll be outdoors where I can setup my solar power array, I bring my laptop and a color inkjet printer so I can do more professional style buttons on demand. I have pre-printed artwork for dozens of different custom designs and have one or two of each design made up and out for sale as well.
@MakeSomething

Michael Schafer oh wow! Nice! I have looked into portable printers to do that but never got past the looking stage.

the one problem is i live in Australia and its obvious the price has to be $1 but a $1 in Australia is 75c USA,thats most of the profit,maybe 3 for $2 but chareging $1.25 is going to cause you to lose customers,dam our bad dollar,two years ago the situation was reverse,also means the press will be more like $400,though even a slack a@se like me would make that back in under a year,im sure if you had a huge w/end fair you could get close to doing it in a week
