Animated transitions for streamers, maybe?
@MotionHatch
@MotionHatch Год назад
@@nicolasplazacontreras That's a great shout especially with the number of streamers at the moment going up! You could also extend this to RU-vidrs who need transitions, lower thirds, the little subscribe icon etc!

i think the best way to do this as a motion designer is by niching down and then branding yourself as the ‘go-to’ expert for that style of work. that way you don’t completely suck the soul out of the creative aspect of your work, and you might be able to minimize the notes from the client because they are paying for your specific style. I see this a lot with motion designers who brand themselves as Art Directors or Animation Directors rather than just Animators. I have a lot of surfing animations, so i will be focusing on branding myself as the ‘go-to’ artist for that.

okay, but how that productised service at a fixed price will make me more money. if i do for example logo animation if I fixed up that price startups can pay that but when a big brand needs it that's a low cost for them you actually will lose money. big brands can pay more you can't tell them I offer on my website logo animation for startups for $1000 but you are not a startup so give me 10k xD

Hi Mohammd you’re right that different clients will be able to pay more but the idea would be that your productised service would usually be some sort of templated type offer to keep cost down. The big brands are more likely to want a bespoke custom offer. That should be charged appropriately. Does that make sense?

Super insightful! Thank you so much. I`ve realized recently how unscalable my motion design services are. I`m hoping to implement these lessons quite soon.

My idea is to create a Gif or icon pack. They can choose out of a library of X icons. And they can tell which 3 colors and name of company. And they can get the items within the week. Now just find a way to set up a template , system and a way to export in bulk.
@MotionHatch
@MotionHatch 8 месяцев назад
This is a great idea! If you can make them into Lottie files as well it could be useful for their websites etc! Hopefully someone can help you exporting in bulk! :)
@sophiemulders
@sophiemulders 8 месяцев назад
@@MotionHatch i was planning to add that as a upsell for example, or different versions of the package. yes only the exporting bit scares me. i think i can bulk export GIFs with gifgun 2, but cant find a good tutorial on it. Also it is difficult to think of a working system to help systemize the process , but for changing colors i want to use the extension of Sander van Dijk.

Hey Motion Hatch, great vid. I’ve been thinking about this subject for a while now, I think it makes sense for website development where there is lots of repetition when building out a website and it can usually be past to the client to fill in the details, adding text and pictures. The only thing I do the same in motion design is opening after effects or C4D The rest is always completely spoke to the job. Have no doubt someone will think of something, look forward to seeing where this conversation goes.

Thanks Jim. We discussed some more ideas on the podcast episode such as motion branding packages etc. I definitely think there’s lots of scope for motion designers to do this with particular types of clients.

What I've learned in this video about productized services is that it's good to have structure. Having a good structure in communications can keep the client more confident towards the expected outcome. Having a set start and end date on a shared google calendar can keep structure with your client so they can understand what to expect for each day and know that their money is going towards something that's being worked on (storyboarding, animatics, animation, editing, etc..) Having a flat project fee can help the client know beforehand how much they can spend without having to worry about unexpected additional costs. I'm guessing for fixed in outcome the client should feel that you have a deep understanding of the service being provided so they can expect the same level of quality as showed on previous work examples. For fixed target market I'm currently thinking about focusing on product lighting shots and character animation in cinema 4d. Could it be productized if I made different service options like (character animation/product lighting) have different flat rate fee's depending on having a flat gradient background compared to a full build 3d background. Another idea is charging a different fee for rendering at different resolutions. Like have different pricing for 720p, 1080p, 4K. Great Video!!

These sound like great ideas. Are they part of one productised service or is this a suggestion for a few, just trying to get a clearer understanding :)
@Momentai.
@Momentai. 2 года назад
@@MotionHatch Like having a few productized services so that a client can have the option to pick a cheaper service that fits their budget. That way you won't have to use up all of your energy on every project unless they're willing to pay for the premium service. I honestly don't know what I'm talking about completely but its fun and interesting to think about. I'm a year into motion design.

Very cool. I've recently productized my process and selling that as a consultant. I need to think more about how I can leverage motion design as a product too. Something that comes to mind are training videos for industry...that sort of thing.

Thanks Cameron. Training videos for a particular industry would be cool. Like if a certain company needed a certain type of motion design maybe

@@MotionHatch well you standardize the "script" and have a few (2-4) templates at your disposal. Create a document for the client to fill out the the steps. Change some colors, some fonts per whatever company you are doing it for, and push it out
