Great video I don't have a torch... So I use a heat gun and it works the same and you have a little more control of your burn marks

I'll have to give that a try! Thanks!

Something I like to do with the poly is use the disposable sponge brushes. I’ve found that you don’t get those brush marks that you were talking about with a regular paint brush. But really cool idea look forward to trying it on my farmhouse table.

I read that you need to put a conditioner first so its not blotchy ?

Great tips for aging pine. I never knew you could thin oil-based poly with mineral spirits. I don't like the brush marks a brush leaves either and the thick poly.

I want to build some furniture that matches our rustic pine furniture but I wasn't sure how to duplicate that rustic look. Thanks for posting.

Hi I would love to do this with a double bed, that is already assembled. Is this possible do you think?

I actually love the way pine looks. Real pine...not pressure treated wood. Pressure treated wood is toxic btw and really should not be used for something that people would be eating off of.

I purchased a pine bedroom set that I want to strip and refinish and I think this would look great. Have you tried it on pine wood you stripped of old stain? This is a large set of furniture and I really want an older looking wood....your right pine is boring. Thanks!
@termitewoodwerx5896
@termitewoodwerx5896 6 лет назад
I've never tried to strip wood and do this afterwards. My suggestion would be to give it a try somewhere on the back or on the bottom. If it works, great... do the whole thing. If it looks bad, at least no one will see an area on the back. Wish i had better information.

This is very helpful, thank you for sharing. Is the poly necessary after the stain? What if you just did the stain?
@termitewoodwerx5896
@termitewoodwerx5896 6 лет назад
Yes! Poly is necessary because stain does not protect the wood at all. Stain only adds color, but zero protection.
@renegadewa4183
@renegadewa4183 5 лет назад
If you didn't use the poly after the stain fully dried the wood would look very dry and very dull like it had a film of dust on it.

Try covering the holes near the tip of the torch when attempting to light, it will light right away.

I know you all will think I’m crazy but I burned the wood on a whole 10 foot length of acacia handrail in a microwave and it looks AMAZING!

@termitewoodwerx5896 4 года назад
You have one hell of a huge microwave.
@chrisask2065

No I don’t, it’s normal size that mounts under cabinet

I was just joking man. I was picturing a 10 foot long microwave and found it funny. I've never tried to put wood in the microwave. I didn't even know that would work.

Nice trick. Have you tried sanding a bit after burning the wood? Or burning it more heavily and then sanding? I have just started experimenting with trying to make pine look more interresting as well. Cheers and thanks for sharing. You have a new sub ;-) Oh, and if you have the inclination, stop by my tiny channel and show some support. Thx.
