MAKE NOISE MORPHAGENE SAMPLE IMPORT TUTORIAL ~ Using Ableton Live, Reaper and Audacity

This is a tutorial for how to import samples into the Make Noise Morphagene eurorack sampler module. I cover how to use Ableton Live, Reaper and Audacity to export wav files that conform to the Morphagene. I also cover how to import files from Morphagene into Reaper and get the splice markers in tact. Ableton Live and Audacity can't export cue points or splice markers unfortunately but Reaper can. The main thing you need to remember is to format the SD card in FAT32 and use 32 bit floating point 48KHz stereo files up to 87 seconds each. You should also name your files mg1.wav, mg2.wav, etc.

You can also use Izotope RX 6 to create Reels with splice points by going Edit -> Add Marker Or Region

it is in the manual for Reaper, just not Audacity or Ableton

My Sony laptop came with Sound Forge audio. (Now owned by Magix) If you happen to have that software, it can create and export with markers in 48k 32bit and it works on the Morphagene.

Surely Adobe Audition or Pro Tools can export with markers. I'm surprised that even Audacity can't.

I have a question with nothing plugged into the Inputs of your Morphagene. And the gain stage set to -3dB and the sos knob turned CCW to monitor the inputs do you hear very loud white noise or sound like someone is sucking threw a straw?

Have you noticed clipping with the reels once they playback in the morphogene? Im on the latest firmware with more than reasonable audio leveled files and I hear the sounds/reels playing back distorted...latest firmware...I even fed it a -1dB test tone to auto level to the incoming signal and still the same result with the reels!!! any ideas?

I can't figure out how to play the entire reel on the morphagene. For a "tape deck" type module, I'm surprised not to find this case documented anywhere. Do you have any advice perhaps?

Hi. To play an entire reel, you can delete all splices by holding down the shift and then splice buttons. Also, if you want to keep the splice markers you can duplicate the reel and delete the splice markers on the duplicate.
