You can also use a food processor. I tried using a stand mixer but it didn’t work for some reason so I used a food processor. Although I added a little bit of water to it. Maybe it didn’t work because the rice wasn’t warm enough?
You should also add a bit of water so it doesn’t get stiff in the hand mixer!! That’s what we do when pounding rice in Japan to make it silky and smooth
THIS IS THE BEST RECIPE EVER GUYS IF YOU'RE HESITANT DONT BE! Here's a note . Note:- if it's not going well when you're kneading it or the machine is (like if it's not becoming a dough or blending well) IT MOST LIKELY BECAUSE IT GOT COLD!! so heat it up whenever the rice gets cold!, 30 seconds!, It helped me a lot because I was becoming really upset and losing hope into making this one work ITS SO STRETCHY AND CHEWY I EJBDKWJDJBWDJSHJDNDDJJDJDKNDKWJOWKOSDK Edit:- I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT IT SHRINKS, SO IF YOU ADDED 1 CUP YES ITLL DOUBLE INTO 2 CUPS BUT ITLL SHRINK BACK AGAIN INTO 1 CUP!
@@KittyKettle Did you use long-grain rice or any rice that isn’t as sticky as sushi or Japanese or short-grain rice? That might be the issue… *Remember, folks, that there are links to her recipes in the description of Ms. Shi’s videos! They have all the details and notes about making you need and are easier to follow than eyeballing the videos!*
After days of trying, I didn’t make a success of the Japanese recipe, but today I tried the Korean version and I ground the rice before steaming and it was a success! I finally FINALLY made good and chewy homemade rice cakes! Thanks a lot for this video! I’ve been looking for this recipe for almost a year now 🙃 the other recipes (even in Korean) wasn’t that chewy
No way did Ms. Shi just blow my mind! I just got a stand mixer. I am so excited. Thank you so much! I don't always feel like traveling the 60 miles tp the Korean store.
Your voice is so cute💖 Also I love the effort you put into your baking, working hard to find a new recipe and then sharing it with us! Keep up the good work, your amazing

was it just regular rice flour or glutinous rice flour? ive seen that glutinous rice flour works better but regular rice flour is much cheaper and easier to find
Hello Ms. Shi! I just wanted to let you know I made your peach mochi recipe, and it is the best mochi I've ever had. Instead of just doing peach jam, I mixed in some strawberries and made a bit of custard from your donut recipe to add to the whipped cream! Thank you so much for your food blog and recipes!!!
i have a problem, when my stand mixer finished, it didnt turn into a dough. It was really stickly and sloppy -,- I eventually fixed it by addibg 2 cups of flour and a bit extra on my hands but I was wondering how i can make it better next time I try this?
Ms shi is so pure and innocent (let’s forget about the dont-make-at+three-in-the-morning-noodles lol) but fr I love ur vids so much and u always make me smile😊
You're the cutest thing on RU-vid ❤😂 Your voice is super cute, even You're hands are really cute. You have the cutest sense of humour. Super wholesome. 🌸
