Gunpla runners or sprues. Best choice is the 30 Minute Missions #02 Customize Effect Burst Scene (Gray) Accessory Set. The effect parts are in scale with Marvel Legends figures, easily modded to work.

Very cool. Thanks for the info. I got my two from a contest and absolutely loved putting them together. I really want more but I know nothing about the characters. Need to do more research.

This is absolutely the best (and my favourite part) of diorama building: Scavenging and repurposing. It's by far the most enjoyable aspect for me when I'll find something lying around in a tool box or even outside on the floor. It's at the point where when I'm out walking the dog, my eyes are just fixed to the ground, scanning like a magpie for any unusual shaped plastic or metal things that have been thrown away or dropped that I could turn into something. About 50% of my total dioramas have been built using insulation foam I've found discarded around construction sites or that have blown out of skips by wind etc. One man's trash... Great video btw! Hope it inspires many new and even us old experienced diorama builders!👍🏻

It's not my favorite part of Dio making but it sure is satisfying when a piece comes together. Thank you for watching. I hope it does inspire some to push the limits of their creativity.

Cool. Iam always collecting odd bits, but never have time to much. Speaking of time we had a great week in NYC, even arranged to meet one of the RU-vid reviewers who was attending Toy Fair, and he picked up one of the Stepfortd cuckoos for me.

Been watching all you’re tutorials and wow. Great information, to-the-point, and very helpful. I may have overlooked it but I don’t think anyone has asked about the texture of the sidewalk in this diorama. I’m curious how you achieved this? If you’d be willing to share or so a future video, that’d be awesome. Can’t wait to see more:) -Jake

Much appreciated. I've been pretty busy lately so haven't been able to do more videos but that texture method is on my list of tutorials I need to do. Hopefully I'll get to it sooner than later. Thank you for watching.

I've actually been thinking about doing some stuff on that sort of thing. I just may do a few. The hard part about doing videos on how to do the videos I do is I need another camera to film me filming. lol

The dials were part of the Gundam parts rack. I just cut them to the size I wanted the box to be.

Do you make your own sculpting Tools
@TechChucker
@TechChucker 2 года назад
I guess it depends on what you mean by making your own sculpting tools. For the most part, I just use tools I already have around the shop. When it comes to adding additional texture and whatnot to my projects I might use wadded up tin foil, or sand on some tape or some small rocks glued to a pencil or stick and then use those to dent the foam the way I want. I've used rocks I found in our landscaping to create texture as well. For the most part though, the tools I usually use are: Metal Ruler, Utility Knife, Exacto Knife, Hot Glue Gun, paint brushes.

What Brand of paint and Brushes you use
@TechChucker
@TechChucker 2 года назад
I use whatever is available from Walmart or Hobby Lobby. Applebarrel is often what I get, but sometimes I get Folkart. Depends on what they have. Usually I get either the small ones for $0.50-$1.00 but I get the larger 8fl oz bottles in Black, White, Brown, and Red. Then I usually get standard Blue and Yellow and a normal looking Green in 2 fl oz bottles. I usually just mix the colors myself then to get the different tones I want. Sometimes I'll buy a specifc color if I feel like it but I prefer to simply mix it myself. Gives me better control and creates much less waste over time. It can be frustrating at first though when the colors don't mix the way you wanted. Unfortunately if you want light brown, just adding white doesn't do it all the time. Hope that helps.

Forgot to answer the brushes question. I have no idea what brand my brushes are and they don't say on them. All I know is I didn't pay much for them and some of them I hate and some I really like. For the bigger drybrushing I do on my bricks I jump at the $1.00 brushes at Home depot. They look really cheap and it's around a 2" brush. They work great for dry brushing. The one I use for washes is a regular sort of brush that has somewhat softer bristles and is closer to as wide as it is thick, if that makes sense. Allows it to hold a lot more paint which is useful for a wash.

... so kit bashing?
@TechChucker

I suppose you could call it that. But there's a little more to it than a kit bash. You gotta cut your pieces to size, glue them together, paint em etc.
