Love the sound effects! Nice to see a lighthearted video on youtube every now and then. I doubt the quality of my sulfur as I bought it from a camping supplies store as a kid more than 15 years ago. If I just want some low grade liver of sulfur to experiment with building a thick layer of oxide on copper for increased emissivity can I use it anyways?
Hi, Thanks for watching! The thing that I am heating the patina on is the hot plate also called infrared cooker. It looks similar to an induction cooker, but it heats glass.
It can be used in sterling silver that contains copper, I don't think it will work on fine or argentium silver. Check out this easier to make recipe also ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Dl54is5UV0I.html
Hi, thank you for watching 😁. You can't make in a stove, the glass will break on an open flame and it cannot be made in a metal pot. I'll see if there is another way to make it without the plate.
I've never heard of it until now. It looks a lot more concentrated. If you use potassium hydroxide instead of sodium hydroxide it will be closer chemically. There is also thiosulphate in it, I'm guessing it makes it last longer? I'll look into it. Check out my newest LOS video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Dl54is5UV0I.html
I used 17% for the video, it you can also go a little higher or lower. Check out my other video on my no hot plate version ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Dl54is5UV0I.html
