A protest for the practices of the Greek Coast Guard as well as Greece and EU policies that resulted in killing more than 600 people in the Pylos shipwreck was held outside the Malacasa camp, where most of the survivors are held in temporary - de facto - detention.
The march started from a nearby train station. Heavy police presence could be felt surrounding the mobilization, in a mostly uninhabited mountainous area 30 km to the north of Athens.
Protesters shouted slogans in the camp's gate against Fortress Europe, the fence in the land border in Evros and the anti-migrants policies of the Greek state. There' some of the survivors greeted the march.
