That's right! You can make thousands of dollars as a small time beekeeper! In my video I share how I'm doing it after beekeeping for 6 years! Being a beekeeper isn't easy, but if you follow my suggestions, you too can be successful! Start of slowly with beekeeping, and don't forget it isn't just about the honey! Yes, for most, honey will be your main income, but you can also sell bees, queens, wax, propolis, and pollen! Don't even get me started with all of the value added products you can make! Beekeeping is a journey, but you can turn that honey into MONEY!

Spot on advice. Grow your apiary yourself and not by buying a ton of hives. That way you grow (your experience) with your apiary and are more likely to succeed.

We are a small cottage beekeeping business in coastal central Florida, we also are now in our 7th year and our story is similar to yours . Our best season with 8 producing hives out of 12 was 670 pounds , this includes a spring wildflower harvest, summer wildflower, and our cash crop of Brazilian Pepperberry in late September. One really great seller for us is wax infused Cotten bowl covers that take the place of Saran Wrap, they are big, big sellers and we sell various sizes. We also hope to start selling mead soon as well. We have made huge investments in equipment to get to the 50 hive mark this season , thankfully we produce 95 percent of our wood related equipment. We also do be removals here as we are fairly well populated on the space coast . Swarm traps and splits help us expand as well like yourself . Enjoyed the video , hope you continue to grow at a sustainable, steady pace !♥️🐝

I’ve got 56 hives. I don’t care to deal with honey because I’m in research and development of my Hygienic Hypro queens I’ve developed through crossing other clean queens, And have developed a good reputation for have good bees, so sell lots of Nucs. All honey is sold in 5gallon buckets at 4 dollars a lb. 60# is 240 get it out. But booming. Side note this doesn’t happen over night. Takes hard work, patience and constant learning. Good luck😊

I start with 1 hive and now at 467 hives Never buy any bees. Expansion in past 17 years and I say stop to expansion a year ago. I go with strong hives in pastoral for summer time in trucks I hold them well in natural honey for winter , I never get swarms because what is swarm from a tree in a tree will go again( as I see you say about own rules ...same as I do )

@mihaicozma4054

@@makeeverydaycount9381 all you need is passion for bees. Study about them first. Study about the area you are See how they do it in your area. Online swing some videos is ok. But each person has his own style and you will develop your on style as well. Many people here online they don’t tell you how to do. They tell you how they do it. So you can adapt on what you see. This is a job or hobby what you have to steal it How to say to learn to create your own style. I start with stationary hives but when I go to pastoral is another technology and even bees react in different way. I have bees from stationary hives if I put them in travel they did not perform the same as other So is about genetic formation of the bees. ( to not say how to teach them because they don’t leave long - But they create a genetic line and knowledge pass on generations. Me personally I did not agree on getting swarms. We have a saying what is from the tree in the tree will go ! Is mean they are possible to swarm on you always. So you need to have a line of queens or bees and technique to not have swarms ....to exchange the queen quietly. Many things to learn about it. Don’t look at making money at first. You have to love what you do first. I rarely use sugar syrup only if I did not have reserves of honey to give them. But I leave them enough honey to pass the winter I never put my hand longer inside to take more honey. More to say I rise them in natural way I try to keep that nature format for them to have heathy hives. Sugar syrup is like water for a baby when you need to feed him milk

New to this idea!! What do you guys refer to as "hives" ? The entire box unit thing? Or just one drawer in the unit?
@scottmurphy283
@scottmurphy283 6 месяцев назад
The entire tower. The deeper bigger boxes are for brood rearing. The queen will stay in there and the smaller boxes on top are called supers. That’s where the honey will be collected from

If you have one hive you don't have to pay for bees anymore unless you have some disaster. One good hive in spring will give you 3 splits if you only use one comb each or you can split more at the cost of honey production. After honey harvest you can split it again in two. In fall, 60% of those splits are large enough, the others will be combined two each. I have double or more hives each winter than in the spring. It almost gives more money to sell hives than to sell honey, which is also much more work

Letting your friends know is a good way. I got most of my tools as an aneversary present where I work at because some ot the people I work with heard I was interested in bees. I was able to get an esteblished hive including wooden ware with bees in it for $300. That's a good deal in my state. Nuks would cost over $200, and there are only a few places I could get one none within a one to two hour drive. A package would cost around $175 to $200 and unless I buy at least 100 of them I would have to go out of state to even get them. I think I got a good deal.

Yes! I can also raise my selling prices about 15 percent more than when I sell at a farmers market. The market is only 3-4 hours, so priced to sell quickly. The benefit of a store partnership is they have weeks to sell.

@WhistleThicket
@WhistleThicket 19 дней назад
A lot! Also 1 hive plus Bess plan on about 500 bucks investment. Now if u have strong hives I. The spring you can split them. You also won’t always get honey from every hive every year. Depends on your area too- how many times can you harvest a year and how much nearby nectar is available? 1 healthy hive that produces honey plus the wax I use to make a few things I would say is about 250-400 profit a year.

Sure , last year I made about 3000 profit from beekeeping, mainly from honey, but also some beeswax products like candles, lotion bars, beard balm, wood butter. For 10 hives I probably spend about 100 on mite treatment, 100 on supplemental feed, and I bet 300 in bottles! I usually buy 1 hive each year as backup, those are about 150.
