Couldn't agree more with all this. I just do what I want on my channel, it's very random. Mostly Speedruns these days but it'd be mixed with gaming news if I had the time. I just do what I wanna do. And can't wait to see more of Buddy Yellek 😄
This was a very interesting look into being a youtuber. You don't see people talk about stuff like this very often which made this video both fresh and fun to watch. The Videos vs Content take isn't one I have seen before, but I like it.
I make videos for the fun of it. I have not been making videos recently because I have not been feeling like making any. Make videos because it is fun.
Eight minutes and fifty seconds in, there was no question mark at the end of the blue text. Your response is probably going to be "who cares" but you leave out the question mark again.
Unfortunately, the way RU-vid has set it up is it's all "Content, content, content" wanna get noticed, put up a new video every day. Just do daily commentary, who cares if you're passionate about it, who cares if it sucks so long as it gets clicks. Monetization has helped ruin this platform. When I first started in 2007, no one was getting paid, we just made videos because we had a passion for the subject matter. Those kind of videos do still exist, but they usually get buried under whatever is trending in the algorithm. You don't even see the channels you subscribed to anymore, unless you hit the subscriptions tab, and even then, it only shows their most recent videos. I don't even know why they keep the 1,000 subscriber requirement for monetization when very few of your subs even see your content. As for comments, some people are very rude, but man, those comments in 2007 when I started were a lot more brutal. That's not to say there aren't some terrible comments people make nowadays, but unfiltered, 2007 internet was the CoD chatroom of it's day. If you so much as put up a gameplay sample of a game and made even one mistake, holy crap, you'd never hear the end of it. I was a lot more brutal in responding at the time though. The wild west of the internet days
Yeah, even the tab is called Content instead of videos, which speaks volumes. There were definitely some large RU-vidrs, who were getting paid pretty much from the start but it wasn’t as publicly known , but in the grand scheme of things that really doesn’t matter because virtually no one else was. Yeah you really have to seek out the more authentic videos that are a throwback to the old days of RU-vid. It’s bizarre how randomly I do come across those type of videos here and there. Technology has changed dramatically, I looked back at some of my videos from 2013 and holy cow. I can’t believe I thought that was acceptable. I was uploading 480P fullscreen videos and the audio was out of sync. I don’t necessarily want to go back to those times. I got to the point with the harassment stuff I just delete my RU-vid app off my phone. What’s crazy to me Is some of those harassment videos often times have ads on them. So Google is making pennies off these people harassing me, which is ironic but also kind of hilarious, doesn’t matter how many times you report the videos. I swear some of these people think they’re still are in 2007 the way they talk.
@@PKInTheUniverse I kind of like the homemade quality of old 480p videos with bad sound sync. I just spent $1,700 on a new PC so I could make 4K content easier. Lol. The cost of RU-vid. As far as the harassment videos, I've seen some of the ones you've posted on X, and I've seen a lot of a certain northern country gamer's videos. Kind of sad. RU-vid doesn't do much to protect their creators, that's why I've stayed anonymous, and will continue to stay anonymous online. A big creator can dox someone with no repercussions, and large channels can blatantly steal smaller channel's videos for "reaction" content, and nothing gets done. All that matters is that RU-vid gets paid. If people have to die to get them money, they don't care.
That must be a pretty cool PC. I’ve done a few upgrades to my PC not too long ago, I feel like I definitely need to invest in another hard drive mostly because I’m running out of space. I’ve been looking at some different options lately that I think will work. Yeah The best thing to do is just not acknowledge harassment. What other people think about me has nothing to do with me. I am who I am and I’m gonna do what I’m gonna do. Yeah it’s a shame RU-vid doesn’t have stronger policies. Some people should be IP banned for what they do. I’ve actually been trying to stream on twitch more lately.
RU-vid doesn't (and never has) known what it wants. It has been in constant identity crisis from day one, and if not for the post Orwellian dystopia the world currently finds itself in, RU-vid would have spectacularly failed years ago, but given how world governments use the popular tech sites, disadvantage their competitors, propogandize against alternatives, and direct traffic towards their preferred cronies, RU-vid remains THE video site. With literally millions of uploads a day, RU-vid has never had a problem securing content, they just can't make up their mind what it is they actually want to promote, nor how to do that, and so their trending list doesn't reflect trends, their suggestions are just more of what you've already seen, and they speak about their algorithms and ai as if they are god-like free agents of which they have no control over or responsibility for. (TRY that defense some time. "Your honor, I didn't hit and run, it was the car! I didn't murder anyone, it was the gun! It wasn't me!) They wanted to be a public platform, but cat videos weren't a big enough market, so they wanted to be the next television, but hollywood made better money, so then they wanted long form content, until Tik-Toc was massively successful, now they want Tik-Toc banned while trying to be the new Tik-Toc, and so it goes. You WILL NEVER please RU-vid because RU-vid doesn't know what it wants in the first place. It never has. Their terms grow more obscure, their content is distributed with decreasing diversity, their numbers are fake, their policies are inconsistent, their tools are corrupted, their vision is unclear, and so being a content creator is like being an indentured plantation servant. Some will benefit, many will suffer, most will find themselves imprisoned by their benefactors whims, and your talent, work, content, and intent will never matter as much as the luck of how much their marketing teams like you at any given moment as to if you are (or are not) included in their push to force your video in front of the numbers they then pretend are the measure of your success or failure on RU-vid. It's proven facts that they still deny to this day in spite of their own previous statements and program versions evidence in no uncertain terms. ALL "Content creators" NEED to unite as competitors to RU-vid, rather than dependents of RU-vid. It is more risk but more reward for the creators, but also a service to humanity to end the abomination that is RU-vid. (Which is not the only evil entity in the tech 'kabal' but it IS the company relevant to the topic at hand)
Nothing really growing there except a green onion that’s been there for like five years. We’re planning on tearing the boxes out and just planting grass this year. We might grow some flowers though somewhere. It’s just too hard to maintain a garden with the age the kids are at .
Keep making videos, not content, PK! Channels like yours are a lot more interesting to watch than those you can tell are from those obsessed with and locked into the notion of being "content creators" at an algorithm's behest.
I heard you invested $10,000 of your wife’s money in Kataku and then some writer got angry at your wife. Maybe I’m mixing up two different stories though. 🤣
There seems to be some sort of pressure from these , I guess they’re called “online entertainment companies” most gaming creators are associated with. They have theyre managers up their case constantly about the algorithm and sponsorships. It seems nicer to have freedom to make what ever video you want.
Yo man! Keep doing what you want to do. People will always have something negative to say online. That's normal. Just let it all fly past you. It doesn't mean anything. Rock on, man!
There goes all hope of PK in the Universe gaming slippers we can buy... Not that content? Lol. I'm sure you touched on this a while back. I think I said something along the lines of, don't be a slave to the RU-vid money wheel that's spinning as your end up hating it and the only people laughing are RU-vid! Looks like you were having a great day in the sun tho, have an ice-cream for me! 😎
lol , PK, the slipper socksverse. Yeah people act like I’m making serious money on RU-vid. I’ve only had two payouts total since I got monetized a year ago.
If you look at my logo, it's made up of 4 images representing topics. My videos may be one of those categories. Some even blur those boundaries. I even go rogue; missing those subjects entirely. I don't care as I'm having fun making them and know other people will like at least some of it.
Nice video, PK! I like your here are some thoughts videos. Keep it up! On a different note, I liked your Not-Fast-Five Genesis Outrun video! My kids like the version on the Genesis Mini 2. It is funny to watch them laugh driving in the beach water and hitting signs. :)
i can understand your point i started this channel 16 years ago in 2008 but i stopped because i wasnt getting lot of views and deleted most of my videos so in 2020 i started fresh new channel and uploaded like 100 videos with high editing and good quality in my opinion and all i got was 8k viewsand 100 subs so i stopped after making my last video which took me to do 4 months of research and all i got for it was 600 views so i stopped
When it comes to views it mostly boils down to title , thumbnail and description. People want to make it out to be more than it is, but that’s really what gets people to watch a video. Keeping people on a video is also another task in itself. You can be the best editor and videographer in the universe but if your video doesn’t have all that stuff to get people to click on it, nobody’s ever going to find it .
your videos about Evercade are not biased , just your opinion ! let's just watch and enjoy ! videos are important ...watch if you want - don't if you don't ! i am a fan !
@@PKInTheUniverse You are both , i don't agree with all you say , but that is a democracy ! ignore the critics , they are there to spoil the fun of gaming ! , enjoy Sir !
Just started the RU-vid journey. Just found your channel. Really like it mate. Keep at it! I had a 1000 views on one video in 2 weeks! Blew my mind 😅 Love outdoors and retro gaming. Aim to make one video a week is my plan 😊😊
@@PKInTheUniverse Ah thanks mate, no need to check out my content, but feel free to if you wish :-) Yeah I think my channels doing ok, who knows? Just a hobby really. Keep up the great content mate! All the best
RU-vid deletes a lot of peoples comments. I have times where I’ve left like the most innocuous neutral comment and all of a sudden disappears. I checked held for review tab and I could not find anything.
