CLEAN IT! Clean every nook and cranny. Clean those base boards. Don’t just mop the floor. Get that grout sparking. Clean BEHIND the toilet, get all the dust off the toilet plumbing line (you know what I’m talking about). Keep the trash emptied. And get white towels. Moving to all white towels made my bathroom feel so fresh. I tossed or turned into rags all the mismatch towels I’ve collected over the years.

All joking aside, whenever I try to add color in my towels I end up ruining them in the laundry, I always want to bleach them. Maybe I just don’t know how to do laundry properly. 😂😂😂

These are all so true. Half the reason hotel bathrooms feel luxurious is that they are clean and only have the bare necessities and those necessities blend in.
Toilet paper is not a decorative item- I don't care how you stack it. Bright plastic bottles- hide them. Same for kids bath toys etc. Essentially try to reduce synthetic man made visual elements, and introduce some natural texture. Clean your glass, tiles and grout. If your sealant is mouldy, replace it. Replace your towels and bath mat if they are tired. Get some dimmable wall mounted lighting. With love from your friendly interior photographer 😊
@@goldenparachute392there are grout cleaners on the market that work just like your regular all purpose cleaner in the sense you just spray, scrub and rinse. Do it every other week or so
I would prefer to say “classy” rather than “expensive”. You can shop around to find bargains in good taste. But to me I’ll live with less classy vs having to refill hand soap
Love a good bargain. I shop almost exclusively at second hand stores for decor. I happen to have some great stores near me that get donated amazing items. Sure, I have to go often to score the best stuff, but it’s worth it. I find the most interesting things for a few bucks and it also makes my home feel more collected. Plus it nice not having the exact same target and pottery barn vases and dishes as everyone else.
Adding a easy to care for plant changed the bathroom. Also I used a small decanter for my mouthwash. The glass soap dispenser and qtip holder are in a similar style. Real game changers.
Be mindful about sliding glass doors though! The runners build up gunk like nothing else and in my experience are super annoying to clean, so consider how accessible the nooks an crannies are when picking one out.
I agree. I put in a sliding glass door on my downstairs shower, and it is a pain to clean. You also have to squeegee the door every time you use it, and deal with the soap residue that sticks on the bottom half. Too much work for me, sorry I did it.
I have tried multiple times to stop using the b&bb scent blast foam soaps and my two boys and all their friends complained that I don’t have the awesome smelling soaps anymore. lol
A small trick is to pour it into a nice soap dispenser. Call it a "meet you half way" solution. My personal favourite is the Birillo soap dispenser from Alessi. It is not cheap but I don't like the way the dispenser pump top bit on other dispensers looks so this is a sleek alternative.
Perfect timing - we’re moving tomorrow and the first job is to replace the bathrooms! Although they are both quite small (by North American standards, at least), I’m determined to have enough storage to be able to hide everything away.
I totally agree, fabric shower curtains are way nicer feeling than plastic or vinyl, and smell so much better, too! A tip for those with hard water... when your shower curtain needs the hard water residue removed, put a solution of 5 or 6% strength white vinegar and water in a bucket/small tub and soak your fabric shower curtain, bottom first because it's usually the worst area. Wearing gloves, swish it around and squeeze the solution through the fabric, then let it soak for awhile. Rinse off a bit, then launder as usual. I use about a 50/50 solution, but depending on the level of hard water residue, adjust as needed (you really can't screw it up!). It takes the stiffness out of the fabric and freshens it up so it's good as new!
I have ordered them from Amazon and Walmart. I think you can get them anywhere you buy a vinyl shower curtain. I also have double sided shower hooks that I use with my regular shower curtain. This makes it simple to take the liner off and wash it frequently.
Just painted my walls and furniture and added new frames, replaced the handles and bought a matching soap holder and dispenser set. Made a huge difference.
I cannot part with my Strawberry Poundcake body lotion. I LOATHE more "natural" scents. Those Vanilla and Strawberry 🍓 fragranced products are absolute crowd-pleasers! Thank you for the nevertheless helpful decor insights.
Word of caution about those top rolling styles of glass doors! They have a HUGE gap between the two planes of glass. Causing a fair amount of water getting outside onto the floor. And unless it comes with the plastic thingy that stops the water, you have to attempt to find one wide enough And cut it around the hardware. They look pretty in pictures and showrooms but aren’t very practical in reality.
I have a huge gap and water never gets out. It depends how you close the doors. Take a look at the gap and don’t let the water shoot out opposite the gap. But even when I err it still doesn’t make a puddle. I’m good! Love my double by pass sliding door. ❤️🥰

I learned that "putting away shampoo, etc" from Marie Kondo and it made all the difference in my shower routine and cleaning. When it's time to scrub the tub, everything's already put away, there's never almost-empty bottles being knocked over, you never forget to grab a new bar of soap and have to do that weird half-in-half-out reach from shower to cupboard, and other than hard water, not much to actually "clean" since nothing's sitting there leaking between uses.
You have to be able to clean a bathroom rug (like, in the washing machine). Your idea looks great in pictures, but practically, bathrooms are not good places for a real rug. Just yuck.

Need this for a powder room! Just painted it dark blue (Behr Starless Night) and ordered brass/gold hardware (for the tp holder, towel ring, and a couple hooks), added faux wood shelves and a couple candles and cacti, and am going to frame the mirror soon, but not sure what else to do!
Nice but for my "out of sight out of mind" problem i need to have everything at my reach. Anyway, all my bathroom things are transparent and chrome as the fixtures so even my toothbrush is transparent, the other stuff can be hidden quickly if i have a visitor

Called out on the Strawberry Pound Cake handsoaps. Alas, I won't be getting rid of it as the kids love having fun bold scents when washing hands and it encourages them to wash their hands, always a win. I will have to wait to be classy for now.
Head to dollar tree and pick up some 3-D peel and stick tiles, they can look and do wonders if you apply them right, I have amazing results for my temporary rental
After great deliberation I share my single tip : classy looking refillable soft soap and lotion containers that are on the wall not the counter. That is all. You're welcome.
Buy matching bottles. Some shampoos and body washes come in plastic containers that have the labels perforated so they can be torn off easily - no tacky labels. Then they can be refilled with any brand and the dispensers will still match.
If the mirror is at all replaceable, a medicine cabinet could help solve this to some extent. But totally understand that might not be what you're working with. Another option could be to add a basket or two somewhere, even hanging baskets. Just being able to put stuff IN something instead of sitting out can make a space look a little more intentional and less cluttered.
@@thatjillgirl We have a medicine cabinet, but because it's installed in an 'outside' wall, the contents really heat up in the spring summer fall. Which is no good. Lol. Ok for Qtips, but not for lotions & potions. I have seen those small acrylic wall shelves that might work on a different small wall, but that is also where the towel is. Lol. Honestly this bathroom needs a remodel. ☺️

And I still don't know what to do w all the smaller beauty products. Lord knows why anyone would choose to have such a large basin leaving such limited counter space in a tiny bathroom. Uhg. I fantasize about remodeling that bathroom. Lol.
@@maggienbob1304 The bottles I spoke of are plastic - nothing fancy. Just coordinating the look of what's out makes a difference. Also, if there's wall space for an additional "medicine cabinet" that recesses into the wall. I've lived in some tiny apartments.
Bath & Body Works sell Lavender and Vanilla scented soaps. Just because YOU don’t like other scents, doesn’t mean there are NO Options at B&BW. Furthermore, using bar soap leaves a hell of a mess - not very luxurious, is it?
I think the question of shower curtain or glass doors depend on the size of the bathroom and the design. I’ve lived with both and seen both work well and both really not work at all. I think it is easier to keep a curtain clean, but I think you need one that fits the size and design of the bathroom more than anything else. But I’m not a designer so you do you.
If curtain put in a plum chain. and schorten the length so it doesn't reach the bottom of the tub, so it will dry better and doesn't look like in the klip so easy.
When it comes to scents, I go with lavender essential oil in my bathroom diffuser. Perfect place to deal with the moisture it emits, and lavender has a calming effect on everyone.
No! No sliding glass doors! Professional cleaner here - those things are a PAIN IN THE ASS to keep clean. Swinging glass doors are fine. Sliding glass doors are the devil's petri dish.
I love lemon for my soaps and getting ready to get glass bottles for my shampoo,conditioner, etc. We have a cedar bathroom, and it's full of spider plants and ferns .
I'm in the UK, I don't know anyone who uses a shower curtain (apart from in social housing) nearly every private owner chooses a glass screen or door . I have never heard of any glass in a shower or bath imploding or breaking . They are all made off toughened safety glass . Easy to keep clean also for me especially as I use my Karcher window squeegee on the doors . 2 mins straight after showering and its sparkly clean again .
How about instead of trying to make your home look like the cover of a magazine, you just accept that a bathroom is a functional space and all the "clutter" is stuff you need. Soap, tooth brushes, spare toilet paper - it's fine, it's a bathroom. Those things are supposed to be there.
Because you can use your bathroom AND at the same time love the look of it. That's nothing about having a home look like a magazine cover. It's deciding you want no clutter, no dirt, no stress in your bath. In fact having fewer things will make it more funktional. E. g. if you love a clean and minimalist style in the rest of your home why not have it in your bath as well? No one said to have no soap, tooth brushes or spare toilet paper. It's more like deciding what you really love and who you really are and live your best life enjoying it.
@@Momma_AL exactly. I hate seeing stuff. I have a perfectly functional bathroom with minimal clutter. Mine doesn't look high end but I'm working on it. It's a REALLY tiny space. The less out the better/
They have shower curtains you can wash. Get a second one if you need to have something up while the other is in the laundry. Way better than just throwing them into a landfill every few months and you don’t have to live with the pink stains 🤢
Definitely agree with the clutter point. Not having shampoo/conditioner/body wash bottles but instead storing them away from sight looks so much cleaner and classier

I provide the small hotel soap bars (new, still wrapped) from my travels, bcuz I don’t feel bad throwing them away after the guest leaves. Hence I see why ppl buy the bath liquid soap. Thanks!

Sory, but I am not exchanging the usability for "luxury". All my hair products remain in that organizer on the shower wall, I am not walking out of the shower for the next bottle I need and deff not dig into some cabinet for it!
Just take a peak at the workings of the faucet before you buy one. Needing to drill holes or put in new angle stops, etc. will drive your husband nuts. The fancier they are, the more problems you’ll get. And if you get a sink, note if your existing is a drop in or it’s installed from underneath the counter. Unless you want a divorce.
I just hit the bottom of mine with some of the cleaning spray every time I clean the bathtub (roughly once a week), let it sit, then rinse it off. It helps keep it from getting that sad shower curtain grunge.
