I’ve been holding off on changing to the new mods so this came at an appropriate time for me. You explained about the vanilla fog and cube map replacer thank you. A second point is on the Road Options mod. I don’t use it because I use the planning roads mod and I want them to be a different colour. Instead I use Network Skins to recolour mismatching roads.

@@DavyKrankit Davy, for the future, if your running 16GB for the Ram, perhaps upgrade to 32GB. I started at 16 and I'm now at 64GB, but I noticed a BIG difference from 16GB to 32GB's.

When you change a theme a lot of times the game thinks it is night time, hit space twice to unpause and repause and it will brighten.

That doesnt happen with “play it”, which I recommend in the video. Thats an “ultimate eye candy” flaw.

Thanks for an updated walkthrough, having visuals set to personal preferences adds so much to the game. Playing on a map with many steep mountains (showing cliff textures), I additionally tried the "scaling" option of textures in TM2. Totally stunned by how much of a difference this makes, you can totally ruin or improve the overall impression.

With Environment Changer, you should be aware that any buildings that are linked to the different environments will be deleted from your save. Things like the police station, the fire station etc (anything that has a different looking building in Temperate vs European for example). I found out the hard way when I nearly lost a city after changing the environment and didn't realise I lost most of my services

THANK YOU. been using some older custom maps that only seem to have relight and the old mod settings listed, having lots of issues getting the map to look anywhere close to the screenshots. Going to try your tips for these new mods for exposure and sun strength. I’ve found my biggest issues are building shadows being so dark you can’t see an entire face of the building or cliff faces being extra shiny

Hey finally .... been needing sb to share such amazing tips ! can I request that you do one of the Tranport Mods - especially Improved Public Transport and the TLM - cause idk, IPT had been my favorite forever but off late it seems a bit lacking but TLM up-to-date ... and then there is the Colour changing mods etc . I feel like there is a lot of clutter and no direction Thanks

Great list! It actually matches mine. I have been getting a very dark exposure issue with every load for some reason. If I go into Theme Mixer and change exposure then revert it back, it fixes the brightness error.

Thanks for the update on this issue. What GPU and for that matter what type of system are you running? The only thing I seem to remember is that you have 48GB of RAM. Also, can you post your Asset List at this point that gets you these great results in plopable cities> Is it just a matter of using RICO Revisited or is there much more to how to "build" the city of your liking?

I should have watched this video last weekend, when I accidentally broke my theme mixer settings, and I've spend at least 2 game sessions to fix the look, but now it's better than before. I downloaded relight so my buildings shadow side wouldn't be so dark, but my sun / exposure settings are flipped to your recommendation. I don't know I dare to start mixing things up again.

Thanks, I always had trouble with using these mods as they always went very dark and I prefer a tropical/temperate color. I stopped using them do to nobody explaining it. I'll try again with your explanations to these mods.

Thank you so much, nice that you have done that, helps a lot! Only thing I was a bit missing: Anti-Aliasing, you have it off, i tried SMAA & TAA. For me TAA was working better, but I don't have had tried out dynamic resolution yet, so may be AA becomes really obsolete with more resolution. Thx again for all that input! See you in stream. :)

im really struggeling with my shadows on buildings. the side where the sun is not at is just completely black since I switched to the mods you're using. any tips? shadow strength does not help

I go over it in the video, but low sun intensity (about 1) and higher exposure fixes this.

For first time theme mixer 2 runs nicely but whenever I load the game second time, then all the green grass texture areas or the map becomes like a desert colour texture and it doesn't change even while changing things in theme mixer 2. Whenever I remove it then load the game it comes back to original colour map. What's the issue here I can't understand

Nice options to have. Might take a bunch of tries to pick a nice theme. (select one of the dark themes, pick the right Lut, fix sun intensity or exposure to properly compare them). But maybe ppl on Reddit or so have found the perfect combination of settings for instance a breaking bad New Mexico look, something fitting a tropical island map or whatever one fancies? Just one question, why not showcase one of your beautiful looking interchanges instead of that cloverleaf? 😁

The main reason I like using ultimate Icandy is because you can quickly change the time of day by right clicking the circle in the bottom left corner, without having to open up an extra dialog box first. What is the advantage of play it instead of ultimate eye candy?

Render it color mapping is way better than LUTs. But problem is that assets are not made for that. So bloom is pretty much out the window

I saw the before and after shots at your video's opening. But that was just more of a "look what's available" type opening. I was really hoping you were going to take, for example, a vanilla roundabout as it comes in the game, and turn it into something special using your mods - better roads, better colors, better lighting, better road markings, and (downloaded from the Steam Workshop) better trees, rocks, bushes, and flowers. Something like that I think that would make a great video. Keep up the good work!

Hi YUMBL, thank you for the great video! I recently started up CS for the first time in awhile (and made sure to unsubscribe from all of my mods and only subscribe to mods confirmed to be up to date and compatible with each other) and one thing visually that I am struggling to fix is... I'm not sure what to call it... its most noticeable on the edges of shadows, especially tree shadows. It's like a jitter or noise or flicker. By flicker I don't mean that the shadows are flickering on and off. I just mean that the shadows on trees are very... sparkly? Pixel-y? Like the shadows are way too overstimulated :P it's like they took a high dose of Adderall lol. I tried turning off day/night cycle because I thought maybe it had to do with the sun position changing, but that doesn't fix it either. Have you ever run into this issue and if so, any idea on how to fix it?

@YUMBL Bro, I`ve been waiting for a good Viual video, but the reality is this game runs like a pile of **** even with. What we need is a cities2 with all the updates we have been waiting for. Honestly the gamepass version looked better than the steam version + all these mods are to much to deal with, as you say many of them have changed. As a community we should ask Pardox WTF they are doing? We need a new game. Many of us are developers ourselves, I`m sure we would be wiling to help how ever we can. I know they ar a small team. Thank for your content, your roads drive me crazy BTW....

I've tried all sorts of combinations with theme mixer. I cannot seek to eliminate the haze and blur. Is it my camera settings? Up close the map looks okay, but looking down the main street at a mountain or something, its blurry. And I can't seem to get a nice blue sky. I have a really nice gaming PC that can handle whatever. Its just frustrating. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The blur is probably part of the “depth of field” setting in the regular options. You can turn it off

i got one problem with render it! I installed the mod and the game gives me no error message. i can load my map and the mod panel is there and i can open it but: i can't see any textures. i just see the menu, the UI and the mod window. Nothing of my city is visible, just black screen. what can i do? i disabled every mod except harmony and render it.

I hope they can atleast migrate their game to higher Unity engine version since its been a long way that Unity has improved it's engine a lot in terms of performance. I think farthest frontier uses the same game engine as this cities skylines

I do use Owl's Albedo theme in Theme Mixer to change my road textures. It gives the roads a nice "crispy" dark texture. By the way I was happy to see that you still have City Vitals Watch in your Mods list. I use this and prefer it over any other type of watcher mod. The interface just works better for me.

I think you're missing the point of the video, it's about making the game look better, not how to optimise your game. FPS booster, the mod, and increasing your device swap size are plausible solutions to fix some of your issues, but ultimately, you could always just shell out some money.

After work i try these new mods, and friend... the improvement is incredible, I enjoyed like a child my city under construction just seeing how her appearance changed, the city, cliff, sand, all. I run Dynamic Resolution at 500%, game is at 1440p (3080 ti). The mods chew up 20GB of ram on startup.

Its not really mods that take up ram. Assets are generally the culprit.
