I tried this technique and it worked great. But I from my experience I don't think there is any need to add a darker foundation. I used a maybelline foundation that perfectly matches my skin tone, and the final product still worked fine. The moisturizer will not lighten the foundation, the moisturizer gets absorbed in the skin and the pigments of the foundation remains on the surface!
