Covid lockdowns made it very respectable to be working from home. Crafting is a very 'busy' hobby. I have a friend who would say, 'That's not untidy. It's just busy'. All I see is the beautiful fabric and fibre - gorgeous.
I made my diz from a shell I found and used a dremmil to drill the holes. If you want to try it please note that you need to put the shell of a wet sponge in a dish with water.
Thank you. Please show us how you diz off a blending board. The ONE time I tried dizzing (is that how it is spelled?) I was not convinced that it was useful, yet many people suggest it. I love your "so much stuff" and that it is organized enough to find. My grandchildren love to say "I want to...." and I go to the closet(s) and pull the right box and we do it. My husband is also very understanding ;-)
I'm not all that convinced it's useful either, except if I am creating roving from something else (like a batt, either on a board or not) and I want it to hold it together better. My craft stash has been endless hours of fun for every kid in the family. There is a tub of markers marked "everybody" in there that have been used for every visit forever!
That is so cool. I did not think of using a pasta machine. Looks alot easier on your hands if you have problems. That may be another tool I could use. Lovely diz
Your cabinet craft supply storage is straight out of my dreams! Thank you for the information. I have some roving that was not drafting well and I wanted to kind of split it up into better widths and thought HEY, a diz might help things be nice and even :)
I just went to your Etsy shop to check out those braids, and I saw you guys are sick. I'm so sorry, and I hope your recovery is swift and easy! Take care of yourselves!
I have all the tools too! And I use them all as well! I don’t know about you but it irritates me when someone says I have so much stuff and they suggest I get rid of some! But then when they need something and I have it, it’s all good 🙄. All I know is I won’t have to buy very much when I’m retired because I already have it, yay! #lovehavingallthethings lol 😊 Excellent tutorial Trish, time to make a diz!
How did I not know about polymer clay? What fun. As for my progress on projects today, we had nearly 5 feet of snow which meant quite a bit of shoveling instead of knitting and spinning.
I really like that you used silver leaf. I think if you used only a small drop of the ink it would have been very light pink but more see through, I think that would look cool too. It always looks like your having fun.
Thank you, Trish! Be proud that you know so many crafts and have the equipment! I sold my pasta roller and clay and mod poge things many years ago so I would have room for my spinning fibers! Since then I have gotten into junk journaling so the mod podge and inks came back. I love it all! Your diz came out beautifully! I also loved seeing your table and how diligently you worked to clear it. Hugs
I tried your rolling up a batt and dizzing it into roving method with that red batt I tagged you on last year, it spun up beautifully!! I used a washer, there doesn't seem to be any diz's for sale here but the washer worked just fine!
I wasn't interested in making a diz (yet, I might make one out of other materials later) but I'm glad I clicked the link anyway. I got to see the secret life behind your Etsy shop, which was both different and just like the secret life behind my Etsy shop, lol. And the method you used with the silver leaf was fascinating. Your videos always cheer me up! I hope you're both okay and get well soon!
I have a lot of those little clay blocks left over from when the kids were young and we used it for homeschool projects.... now to find a pasta machine, lol.
This was so cool! Love how our other crafts can compliment each other. I was big into scrapbooking and card making, so I definitely have many of those inks!! Hey Trish, you should include a link to your etsy store here and on Instagram 👍🏼👍🏼 I need to check out some of those beautiful dyed braids! Take care 💓
I love all your tools! Having the right tool for the job makes all the difference. The pink and silver looks so nice together. Thanks for sharing this process.
Awesome video. That is something iI need to do one of these days... just have not decided what I want my diz made from yet. Excited for that dizing from a blending board vid too.
Loving the look of your kitchen table... especially the braids. I'm not sure why I hadn't thought of it, but of course, polymer clay is perfect for a diz. Can I ask what size are the holes usually are in a diz? I have an old alloy medallion that I have dapped into a suitable curve, but don't know how big to make the holes.
Hope you can laugh.......I want one, I want to make one......and I have NO idea what it is for, lolololol . You are so fun and creative. Can I continue in life without a diz? Will I suffer loss if I don’t? I haven’t gotten beyond a rigid heddle loom....drooling over all of it.....am still a baby And I thoroughly enjoy ALL your vids.
I started watching this when I made my first comment hours ago then life with kids happened and I’m finally back. I didn’t know you stamp too, that’s another one of my hobbies as well. I have lots of alcohol inks. And all kinds of paper crafting supplies.
Lol I made two about 4 days ago. I could not see paying 28.00 or more for a diz I want want to make a support bowl. You give me idea to make the bowl. Make the bowl out of foil 1st.
Totally off topic, but I was watching the video where you skirted some fleece from a new seller and you mentioned you keep the “vegetable matter” 💩 for your garden. Did you mean the shorts cuts and matted fleece as well, or just the 💩 😂 thanks!
@@downtime86stars17 yes, but it was more fun to use the 💩 emoji than spell everything vegetable matter entails out 😜 really I was more interested in the short cuts and other discarded/not suitable for spinning wool bits, the other stuff makes sense to put in a garden but I wasn’t sure about the straight up wool elements
@@seekingtoremain Lol. No problem. I thought I'd mention it because a lot of people don't know what VM is. But wool apparently makes fantastic compost, with or without the emoji type of VM.
For my profession I am a polymer clay artist. :) The brands you showed sculpy III and premo are non toxic. So it wont hurt if you accidently swallow it. But you do get it back the way it went in. Yuck! (my kiddo ate a big project I was working on when I went to the bathroom. We had to look up the MSDS for it.) It's not food safe because it's porous and it wont be cleaned enough to be safe. The brand they sell at Walmart is junk and really brittle even after baking. Premo I think is the best brand. Depending on your store it's between $2.50-$3.50 for the little bricks. worth it in the long run :)
Interesting! Back when I first tried it, late 80s or early 90s, it was all toxic as far as I know. I didn't know there was some non toxic now. That's great.
Oh dear, you lost me at the dyed braids on the table. Staring makes it hard to listen :D As for diz, I found a cool large coconut button that totally does the trick, was like 50 cents. Goes to say one does not need an expensive diz (though if it's pretty, you might NEED it anyway)
Seriously, I don't spin. But if you keep putting all those beautiful braids in my eyesight then at some point they are going to wind up in my stash. I just know it.
