god your good! Well done Joe great vid. I`m there now with dmxing, but the cable issues can complicate things and why does it always happen when your running short on time!
***** So you used 110 ohms resistor to test a DMX XLR Cable. If I wanted to make one for a Mic Cable, what would I need? 80 ohms or is that not the way it works?
Hey, often times I install a lot of LED bars for weddings and partys and sometimes I plug a cable and all the led bars starts to do random patterns and colors. The problem was the cable but if I plug this tester in that cable, what will it do?
Hi Joel. I'm setting up a dmx system using QLC software on a Raspberry pie. I've bought a basic dmx capable rgb lamp but I'm unable to control the lamp. The problem maybe the DMX interface for the RasPi. My question is if there is a voltage in the DMX output are we to assume that data is also present?
Hi joe, i tried doing this using a 120 ohms as i could not get a 110 ohms resistor, but it didn't work. We use an input voltage of 220 - 230 AC here, does that mean i should be using a different rating resistor. Plz advice. Thanks.
its better to use a 2 colour LED, cathode to 1 (with a risistor*), and the 2 anodes to pin 2 and 3, this way you test all the signal wires instead of just 2 and 3, it is allso more fail prove.... *find out what is the right risistor there a a real simple formula: 120 Ohm minus risistance of the LED equals the resistance of the risistor (this is different for all type of leds)
