For anyone thinking about making their own or using these, please do your research extensively on how to do everything safely, like using paper materials to mix supplies to avoid static and what mixtures are impact sensitive and how to safely store supplies, and try to be responsible using such things, away from houses or people to not disturb or not doing damage to property or people, these are what made them illegal to begin with and we don’t need them making supplies illegal or harder to get.

Luckily I found this out by accident. I was just messing with some old cords that had been sitting around for a while and when I lit it, it went instantly in less than a second! Scariest s#%! in my life right there. So I always know to check now.

@@xXrandomryzeXx You just take like 10cm piece from every batch of fuse, then burn it and see how fast it goes. Then you know rest of the fuse is safe because if there is one fault it will be the whole lenght

Recently I've been trying to make miniature versions of common fireworks like starmines and aerial shells. One technique I've been working on is using sugar as the main fuel and binder for colored stars. I got the idea from the common sugar rockets and "sparklers" that people make using KNO3 but it turns out that if you use KClO4+Sugar+Colorant you can get some nice stars and microstars. Anyway, very interested to watch any videos where you get into small scale firework making, keep up the good work!

@@ciphercraft6176 If you're interested here are some of the sugar-based star recipes I've tested that work: wybiral.github.io/fireworks/compositions/stars/sugar/ They can either be pumped, cut, or rolled into stars by hand (after being slightly moistened). These recipes don't work so well for flares, but for colored microstars in starmines, fountains, and shells they work great.

We used to make m-80s in the 1980s by using the cardboard tubes from clothing hangers. We got the flash powder the hard way, by slicing open black cats and tapping out the powder into a dixie cup until we had enough. Wick and epoxy and good to go.

Several years ago the Safeway store I go to in the produce area.,those clear bags.,the core is a spiral round kraft tube! 3/4 i.d. by over 3" long! Over a period of time when I see only a few bags on a roll, I grab it and take it home and save them! I ended up with over 100 tubes!....go forward to 2022, now Kraft tubes are replaced by plastic tubes! Ugh., they don't blow up! If they did the pieces of flying plastic would be dangerous!!!

you could ALSO like me take the tubes from the leftover firework cakes that you have fired on new years or ofc fourth of July those cake tubes come in massive quantities and are really sturdy this is my first year doing and making my own pyro and i find those tubes in those 100-200 shot finale cakes really useful and they last so long ive done multiple mortar shot tests throw them star shooter tests and many upon many tests and they will break after 10-15 uses but again y'all should try that @CipherCraft

Cipher there are many formulas to create flash powder: kno3+s+al kno3+mg kclo4+al Kno3+s+ Magnalium Kclo3+al if you use one of these, could you tell me in what percentage?

I just use a good old fashioned 70/30 ratio. Its pretty stable as far as sensitivity to shock goes, and makes a nice satisfying BOOM

We dont have any specific law against it, but in 2015 the government decided to put hobby pyrotechnicians in prison. you are allowed to buy fireworks with flashpowder, but if you make just small amounts of black powder, you get jailed because there is a danger that criminals or terrorists might steal your black powder and use it for evil purposes.

Easily done, my friend. Get you some potassium perchlorate and dark Indian aluminum powder from Fireworks Cookbook, cheapest on internet. Get plugs, tubes and fuse from pyrocreations or canon fuse. pp 70% alum 30% mix in plastic bag and you have flash powder..

@@one_jabba_yeet_9741 If you are over 18 you can get it anywhere over the internet but I do not mess with flash powder anymore. My, story and no kidding. I was making all sizes of them for about 6 years and one morning the ATF showed up at my front door with 9 agents. My problem is that I had gotten very, very good at making them. I am a pyro nut and what I was doing was taking them to fireworks dealers and trading them for legal or some, so called legal. People got to talking, this is were , I was very good comes in. I would show to dealers and they would give me anything I wanted. It scared the shit out of me so if you do, make them for your own self. I was getting from Pyrocreations, it is not against the law to purchase but is against law to make. Came by UPS so of course was scanned. Just be careful.

@@andrewf602 My crime spree came to a screaching halt when ATF showed up., to old to go to jail and they would probably not let me go the next time, funny thing is that they did nothing to the dealers I was trading with. Man it will scare the shit out of you to have all of them at your door. One of my neighbors told me later, he told his wife that I did not seem to be a person to be selling drugs. I also had a thriving business with charter fishing boats in Florida, they would throw in water to scare sharks away, one captain let me put one in a dead fish with long fuse and we blew ones head off.
