In this video I turn a paper shredder into A plastic eating machine! Inspiration for this video comes from here: www.instructab... Part 2 will hopefully be making the filament extruder.
Thank you guys so much for all the likes! I did not expect it to get this many. I honestly don't even like the video anymore, but whatever. THANKS FOR 100 SUBS! 👏 And yes, the music is too loud haha
@@SilasCreatesHave you actually tried extruding PET with it? Due to ease of crystallization and other factors, it's supposedly very hard, which is why all the commercial filament is that PETG garbage instead. I'm very eagar to see a working rPET filament extrusion setup but I don't think it's easy or cheap at this point.
The biggest reward I got out of this is, you are and ingenious and caring young man! I'm a Gen Xer....a shamefully wasteful generation as a whole. It's gen Z and beyond that care enough to largely recycle, reuse, and regenerate to truly heal our Mother!
We're not all that bad! Come on, lighten up though wrench on em when you find others are. The insanity of waste management leads me to think and believe the insanity of wastoids is cause by those mafia led morons and idiots that no one would hire or something due to their vice thinking and activities. Lawns that are completely useless is my latest alarming concern. Like literally negative gross household product of tangible assets that are considered developments? How? Wastoid processes that are fake junk with households that are more like spy kgb residences only inputting junk and outputting absolutely nothing other than trash all sugar coated primate looks like sounds like as they can.
Hey man! As a GEN Z-er, I can confidently tell you that most of our generation is the biggest promoter of the wasteful lifestyle.... Some of us try to clean up, but most of this generation, just like the ones before it either doesn't give a sh*t or does "greenwashed" sh*t
Nice project! I'd consider the same mechanism with a stronger motor and some reduction gears to lower the speed and raise the torque. A good pair of tin snips would be handy to cut down large pieces before loading them. I'm now keeping my eye out of an old shredder. Thanks for that idea.
I might be wrong but that switch you took out of the machine had suspiciously thick wires and i couldnt see a powersupply inside.. might be a good Idea to put an enclosure around it or replace it with a switch made for external use. If it is live wires i wouldn’t trust those heatshrinks.
8:30 SAFETY FIRST! Use a tool to grind in there around ... Better you would have used a stronger motor instead pushing back and forward to clear the parts.
Cost effective? The way I look at it, if you make $20 an hour, then in one hour you can buy a roll of filament. I'm sure it will take hours ho make a roll of filament. I not saying it's not a great project. It's just not cost effective for me.
@@jadlaf True, when not on a fixed income nor have the time and or I guess resources other than money or some other financial instrument. Good point. Will need mental facilities as well to make a more automated system ideally to reduce time spent making to a minimum either way I look at the situation. Wondering what the performance of PETE vs PETG is now I'm thinking about again. Thanks for the thoughts. Reminds me of the string trimmer nylon experiments I think CNC Kitchen performed. Will need a dyer as well for optimal material performance, though I got mine for free minus the time and maintenance of my vehicle to pickup.
Great job wonderful video finally somebody who doesn't like to hear Themself talk, just to the point gets the job done excellent excellent excellent I wish everybody out there doing videos would watch you and your style I get so bored with others and they're willingness to just want to hear themselves talk and details and stuff that we can see guess makes them feel smart, and fidget around, we don't need them to explain to us all the details Wonderful job I'm going to check out all your videos thank you God Bless!!!
Paper sanding disks cut thru plastic like butter I use them on lexan polycarbonate all the time, just consistent speed and they last a long time and work much better than cut off disks.
Misleading title. You violated a paper shredder which is simply neither meant nor capable of shredding plastics and the result shows. The final yield at the end? Did you expect to get more or less than what the items weighed before shredding them?
Instead of paying $500 on something like the Precious Plastics®™ shredder, I spent $30 on a paper shredder and made it do a decent job. It is still holding up and works just fine for people who aren't mass producing filament. The final yield was around 10% less than what I put in.
@@SilasCreates "a decent job" If you say so. "works just fine for people who aren't mass producing filament" - see thats my point. You claimed to show how to make filament from recycled bottles but you didn't. You simply took a paper shredder and put some plastics through it. Thats the entirety of your video. How did you manage to lose 10%? There is no chemical reaction taking place. The only way to loose material is to spill it on your carpet.
Yeah, I found it ironic that he obviously owns a 3D printer, but chose to make the hopper out of duct tape and cut up kitty litter boxes. I mean it got the job done so I'm not hating. I just wouldn't have guessed he would go that route.
