loved how you went round the arm rest in one go by turning the fabric ever so gently. Great tip and a very well explained tutorial video. I always wondered how it was done. just awesome. Thanks for sharing and caring.
Cutting the piping strips with a hot knife will keep the edges neater, but since those edges are hidden inside the cushion cover that is not a requirement. I do like cutting the boxing and plates with the hot knife as they are harder to sew together if not done, they unravel too much when sewing.
I love your videos! Thanks to you, I have recovered three chairs and an ottoman. I am considering recovering my couch cushions. I noticed that the piping on the original cushions is actually part of the boxing (i.e. not a sewn-on strip cut on the bias). Should I try to replicate this or cut all my piping on the bias and then sew it on each cushion? Do you have any videos showing how to make piping that is part of the boxing?
Thanks for your kind comments! I have never sewn piping onto the boxing using the boxing fabric to cover the piping, but if you are careful and sew the piping on so that your finished boxing width is the correct, it should work great. Sorry, we do not have a video for that.
Thank you for this video, I wonder if you could tell me what would be the best to cut the material for piping around the seat of a chair? thank you kindly
