Sometimes, you just need a little extra help to guide your viewers eye to your subject in your photo. Well, we're going to take a look at how you can use exposure and colour to make your subject pop. This works for all kinds of photography whether it's landscape photography, portrait or really anything else. We're also going to take a look at how you can use lens blur in Lightroom to add a little extra spice... It's Tutorial Tuesday!

An excellent tutorial. Subtle, selective adjustments can improve and lift an image. Selective adjustments are so easy to apply now, but the human skill is still needed to decide where to adjust and by how much to produce the finished image you want to see.

I can’t say this was my favourite edit, but I know it’s all personal taste. I liked the green walls and personally would’ve placed more emphasis on the face of the subject rather than his white shirt.

That was a really informative video on techniques for drawing the eye to the subject in Lightroom. The step-by-step process on the portrait example made it easy to see how each edit impacted the focus on the person. I especially liked how the color grading completely changed the mood and really enhanced the subject. It's given me some ideas to try out on my own photos to make the subjects pop more. Great tips!

Another great video, thanks. I would be very interested in your thoughts and use of the latest Luminar Neo. Also in the edit of this image what do you think about removing the rectangular light source in the top right, doesn't seem to fit with the 'feel' of the image?

Interesting tutorial as usual. I notice you don’t pay much attention to over exposed highlights or under exposed blacks, as shown by the histogram. I try to keep those to a minimum, especially highlights. I would be interested in seeing something around using the histogram to control contrast etc.

Thanks, another interesting tutorial. But, for all the niceties of editing, the basic composition remains with distractions: the large very bright window with a curved nearside frame (lens distortion not corrected by Lightroom); bright frame reflection from the chef's left hand down to the floor; chef's knife cutting (pun not intended) into his chin; arguably the chef's tunic has been made too bright. I'm sorry to be critical but at the end of the day the photograph seems to be attempting to tell the story of what the chef is doing, i.e. sharpening his knife.
