is the waterproof capsule one of the best accessories for a swiss army knife? It may be more useful than you think... #swissarmyknife #hacks #accessories
@@Hadrada.Actually the paper clip has many different non-obvious functions. You can create with a paper clip, fishing hook, compass, mini screwdriver, spring, sim card removal tool, you can make connections in an electrical circuit, tie or secure items, you can you do some repair on your equipment, you can create a hot awl and much more, thanks.
Thanks for the interesting video. I carry the waterproof capsule on my keyring. in it I put a wrapped mini-tampon. This means it is sterile and can be used for large cuts. It also provides a very compressed form of cotton wool for fire starting and once opened up will provide a lot more cotton wool, enough to start several fires.
Great ideas. If your magnet is small enough you can store it on the parcel hook or on the can opener if it’s larger. Also the needle and thread can be stored under the small blade or under the saw (fits in the gap between the liners). I’m going to try adding a small capsule with additional tools.
Yes, i have some videos about the hidden tools, including the magnet and the needle, many carrying options there to choose which one is the best for you, thanks.
I have managed to get 2 of 7mmX2mm round molybdenum magnets under the scissors on my Compact. The capsule I keep on my car keys and in it I have 2 $50 dollar notes rolled up very tightly.
Yes,the most important is that you can add it to any SAK,i'm carrying the capsule in combination with my swiss army knife that i use as a back up in bushcraft because it doesn't include a corkscrew for the FireAnt ect,Thanks.
The flat head screwdriver (= Cap-Lifter = Bottle Opener) fits just right inside a standard Bit-Adapter. I therefore always carry that Bit-Adapter and a few bits in a container lashed to the knife. U should try!
This was one of my oldest inventions. I had created a few related videos, here is the most recent one, thanks. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-L7Wf8w-jI6c.html
Thanks my friend. Everything you have shown us is very interesting, I am going to look for several of those accessories starting with the metal capsule.
I've experimented with cotton ball fires like at the beginning of the video. If you rub some vaseline into the cotton, you can get the flame to last for 10 minutes. Without vaseline, 30 seconds is the max time I've gotten from a cottonball.
I bought it from temu for 0.88$.You have to make a good market search, thanks www.ebay.com/itm/375008826124?hash=item575044930c:g:JfsAAOSwPddlN1Wc&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA8J1Ss3whmYsgmKBxIDT5XUMkSF%2F98wUnLqxOVlzu58mPf4XRivOe2pmFVEznXeEmx0RwQ3f1kZe99Xbzr%2BjanKydwhp6l15TfTrKI72VUtLTKyZkoxg7DhU%2BYi0RLn9NNbDbMqXbaagYd7mwxcAPk0nVJ1CM4QI%2FmvyO3P%2Bmr4fVR8AcfSk%2FkwDBBy%2FNtUtj%2F%2Fter5EvSJ%2F0hw7TxBhHSfT413ae4ol%2Bm0BQ%2Fn9Wddjnfe%2BXy31jXDz%2FaNdwohOruRaBQ4%2FUg%2BDRrunj9rAvrn96XlonoZCRjI000o6jNyQaVXKD2d29%2Fa4MMY%2FHHtJpaQ%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR7KX2peWYw
Excellent idea for packing extra tools! Although I have to hopefully think I will never be in a survival mode. And luckily haven't been in so far, I'm over 60yrs. But more practical I think from other ideas I've seen.
Of course you can place inside the capsule the items that are most useful for you. Good for you that you have never been in a survival situation, it is also good to be prepared, thank you.
Looks good i might make a couple one with more tinder and cycle inner-tube duct tape wrapped around and more tabs inside and one with more fishing kit for when I don't take my rod etc.
NikGyver - Thank you for these interesting SAK accessory carry combinations. I like all the various configurations you demonstrated which helps me in considering my SAK needs and carry optiions. What are the metal file dimensions... did you cut down the length to fit the SAK? Also, what is the clip you are using to attach it to the SAK saw? Have a Happy & Prosperous New Year! 🇺🇸 🏕 🎆
What model Victorinox is the black one?? I edc a Handyman which is almost identical to this one, but I would love a screwdriver instead of a corkscrew!
if you make smaller ballsof cotton and sock them inmelted wax... you will have longer lasting firstarters you should be able to get around 3-4 in the container.
i think You would use bic lighter until You fall into water. After that You will be cold and Your hands would apreciate a normal size firesteel. Nice gadget but rather difficuilt to apply in real survival scenario.
This fire steel is a waterproof back up option in case if something goes wrong with a bic lighter.Have a look in a real test video about, thanks ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-__Yw7LflsR8.html
the SAK "mini tools" are "handy"? I suppose if you wear glasses and one fits the screws for the temples it word be MAYBE worth carrying that ONE. I have a mini tool (flat screwdriver) on all my SAK's. During the 3 years I've had the mini tool mounted, I've needed to use it exactly zero times. (I need new glasses, btw. My current pair is 11 or 12 years old. Flathead screws in the wire frame.) The waterproof canister to carry small gear isn't a bad idea. I carry a waterproof match safe. Room for a couple strike anywhere matches (back up for Zippo or BiC lighter) a bit of fishing line & a hook, and other small items. Suggestion: Forget the sewing needle and a foot or so of thread. A pocket sewing kit (AKA: "POCKET WIFE") is much more practical. They include several mini spools of thread, several needles, replacement buttons, at least 1 or 2 needle threaders, and a thimble. Good for more than fixing a rip or torn seam. A small pocket sewing kit can be had for under $3 at Amazon and TEMU, among others. A medium or large suitable for cargo pocket or in the pack carry with more thread, and other items can be had for under $10. Of course you can upgrade the thread from cotton to nylon, standard sewing needles to curved; larger eye or even side threading needles, etc. if desired. For ME the match safe is a better option.
Personally, I believe that all tools are useful, each one for different tasks. You have the ability to choose which tool is most useful for you. The capsule gives you the ability to carry them all at the same time just in case. The needle for sure with the thread it is a temporary solution until you have access to a full sewing kit, Thank you for the comment.
Mate! Your videos & SAK tricks are top notch. I've subbed after watching 3 of your sak mod videos. The making of pocket clip by using paper clip is ingenious. Keep up the good work. Cheers! Is that black sak craftsman?
This video is quite incorrect, you can in fact carry ALL TOOLS,but you need plus scales as well as there is a space underneath the saw blade & the fish scaler. The firefly ferro rod will fit underneath the saw on the Swiss champ,I also have a needle wrapped in thread under the saw on my fieldmaster.
I have presented in previous videos many ways on how we can carry some additional tools hidden under some Swiss army knife tools, but this does not negate the idea that we can carry additional tools using a waterproof capsule. Some carried different models of swiss army knives that do not have the ability to place additional tools below the SAK tools. Also the capsule holds more tools. I think the best idea is to use both ways at the same time, more options, more available tools, well more solutions, thanks.
Hi,search ''edc waterproof pill capsule'',''waterproof keychain capsule'',something like this.Have a look in amazon,ebay,aliexpress,ebay,banggood ect.Thank you.
Would you please spell the name of the capsule and the name of the web site so I can buy some. You showed some very great ideas for mini tools to be kept on the SAK’s. How long is the capsule from end to end? Thanks for informative video.
Hi,search ''edc waterproof pill capsule'',''waterproof keychain capsule'',something like this.Have a look in amazon, ebay, aliexpress, ebay, banggood ect.My capsule is 4.4cm long, but there are many different sizes available.Thank you.

i'm carrying the swiss champ, the craftsman(black) and the ranger grip 55 wooden scales was an example for the video for the people who carrying a SAK without phillips head or scale tools.I have add the capsul in my back up outdoor SAK,thanks.
@@nikgyver7you are very lucky to have a craftsman. I was trying to guess which model you have from the video. Unfortunately the craftsman is discontinued. Excellent tool set.
I bought it from temu for 0.88$.You have to make good market search, thanks www.ebay.com/itm/375008826124?hash=item575044930c%3Ag%3AJfsAAOSwPddlN1Wc&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA8J1Ss3whmYsgmKBxIDT5XUMkSF%2F98wUnLqxOVlzu58mPf4XRivOe2pmFVEznXeEmx0RwQ3f1kZe99Xbzr%2BjanKydwhp6l15TfTrKI72VUtLTKyZkoxg7DhU%2BYi0RLn9NNbDbMqXbaagYd7mwxcAPk0nVJ1CM4QI%2FmvyO3P%2Bmr4fVR8AcfSk%2FkwDBBy%2FNtUtj%2F%2Fter5EvSJ%2F0hw7TxBhHSfT413ae4ol%2Bm0BQ%2Fn9Wddjnfe%2BXy31jXDz%2FaNdwohOruRaBQ4%2FUg%2BDRrunj9rAvrn96XlonoZCRjI000o6jNyQaVXKD2d29%2Fa4MMY%2FHHtJpaQ%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR7KX2peWYw
I like the Alox serie which hasn't a corkscrew, I've replaced it with a pillbox with a keyring for the mini screwdriver for glasses. For me personally I prefer the 91 mm for urban usages ONLY. 👍👍
Awesome inexpensive idea buddy! Those victorinox tinders are messy and expensive. The tortoise gear fireflys break too easily. The corkscrew ferro rods appear to much stronger from what I’ve seen online. I have a pill container on the 91mm Ranger. It has 3 exotac quicklight tinder bundles in it and some duct tape wrapped around it. I have put the mini ferro rod from wazoo survival gear in the pill fob with a 2 Exotac tinder bundles in the past. The wazoo ferro rod and striker now live on my keys.
I have the tortoise gear firefly fero rod and it works very well. All the videos I have seen on line of it breaking are because the testers did not READ the instructions. They will break if you try and get a spark by striking the flat of the fero rod. If you hould it and spark it from the edge side, placing your finger in the middle, supporting it, it works very well and I have started a few fires with it. Don't forget, it's for an emergency situation and not meant for daily use but for what it's designed for it works very very well.
@@andrewvautour1795 Probably me then haha! Ow yeah of course, it’s a back up/emergency item for sure. Thanks for the tips 👍🏻👍🏻 I think the idea is awesome, much more useful than a plastic toothpick in an emergency situation. They are pricey and not readily available here in England. Neither is Wazoo stuff.
If you use the firefly according to the manufacturer's instructions, it is not going to break(i have a video about), the problem I have noticed is corrosion, most of my firefly have corroded. On the contrary, the fireant is not affected by corrosion. The exotac is great, but it is expesive, but in Greece we say that what you pay is what you get.I love wazoo but are not available in Greece.Check my video about ''how to protect the helix tinder''.Yes it expensive the helix tinder, there is a solution, but stay tuned for my next video....thanks.
@@nikgyver7 Yep apparently 😉👍🏻 We have a very similar saying here in England; you pay for what you get or buy once cry once. That’s a shame that wazoo gear isn’t available in Greece. Thanks for your videos. I really enjoy them 👍🏻
You are well prepared for the bad days! I am not. My edc is for the daily life in an urban environment. And i don’t like things attached to my SAK. So no capsule for me.
i'm carrying the capsule in combination with my swiss army knife that i use as a back up in bushcraft because it doesn't include a corkscrew for the FireAnt ect.so that it is not annoying to carry additional tools with the swiss army knife, I place them with a small immediate release carabiner so that if the capsule bothers me while using the swiss army knife I can remove it easily and immediately. Of course you can use the swiss your army knife in the way that is most handy for you, thank you.
😄yes yes I know, I didn't check your channel before, I just heard it from your accent and thought it might be nice to send you something in greek (a little sign of appreciation) 😉@@nikgyver7
what matters is that these small tools work and can make your life easier or can save your life in a survival situation. You can add different and bigger tools of your choice, thanks.
some are very weak, but this one and the one that i'using with the pocket clip are very solid, tight and durable,i'm using them more than 3 years, never failed. Some others destroyed only with the weight of the knife, thanks
I am fully into edc, but in todays western world, where are you going to need half the things illustrated in these videos? Who doesn't have access to a bic lighter, and what is going to go so wrong in your life that you lose the one you have? I live in darkest Africa and I don't need 90% ofbthe stuff demonstrated. Seriously, I stay in pretty basic places, and could survive with a SAK and a bit of rope.
If the lighter gets wet,if you run out of gas or breaks? The most lighers doesn't work higher than 800-1500m altidute. So,we have to cover all the possible scenarios that can happen, it doesn't cost anything to carry some spare tools, better prepared than repentant...of course you can add the items that are suitable for your needs.Thanks.
@@nikgyver7 if the lighter gets wet, you dry it, and it becomes a striker if the gas runs out. No need to get defensive about your little video, I asked what do expect to happen in your life that you may need these things. Sure if you are going on a hike in the mountains then you may need them, but for every day use? No.
@@GCKLXIX it is not certain that the lighter will work or it may take time, you do not need to take the risk. A survival situation is unexpected, it happens to anyone, in any place and at any time. An earthquake, wild fires, floods are a reality and you have to be prepared I think. It doesn't cost anything to have a small kit with you. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-__Yw7LflsR8.html
All my Leatherman are in the drawer because they are of lower quality and functionality than my SAK. This idea can also upgrade a Leatherman if you prefer to carry a Leatherman, thanks.
