BIG THANK YOU STEPHEN..!! For all your videos and guidance. I’m relearning after many many years. Was a young buck that was able to sit down and just groove but never ever put the practice time into technique (ego) lol. Recently jumped back in with the intention to PRACTICE like never before. Been building hand muscles daily since watching your double stroke roll videos a month and a half ago (left was like a beginner/right never had proper technique).. this video today was exactly what I required to get my doubles going smooth. Wasn’t allowing full rebound…. Game changer in 5 mins of practice. Obviously lots more daily practice but I’m really coming along because of your videos on hand technique/second finger hinge point.. very Appreciative to you brother for all you do and share..🥁👍🏼

I really appreciate your videos and the free pdf downloads. You're a great instructor. Everything is well explained and the video angles and close-ups show everything you're doing very clearly. Thanks for all the lessons. I've learned a lot from you.

I've been working on this latly and your lesson has backed up what it took a long time to work out. Its all for me been about the weak left hand struggling to do a upright stick rebound. i've been working on them because the better i get at them everything just seems easier.

You are so, so good at this. You are a master in teaching. But for the first time, I watched your channel and, drum rolls plz, I was already doing something on the drum kit the way you teach us. And I figured it out myself. Nearly, with a little help here and there. I still have to work on the volume (wrist-finger coordination), but the rebound is there. I am super happy.

Stephen. . . pretty much what THEY said! I've been following you and your videos for a while now and I think you are a phenomenal instructor. I too, am coming back to drums after a long time away and although I had some formal training on the snare, I am mostly self-taught on the kit. And wow did I ever miss some critical technique lessons along the way. I am now putting in all the "non-glamorous" practice to learn finger technique and control, and even had to change my grip completely. I still have problems doing the french-grip finger exercises as the stick starts to crawl out of my hand, or the fingers pull the stick sideways but I am slowing it down and trying to enjoy the challenges of learning all this stuff I had no idea about!! Thanks!!

I want to get better at my doubles so I have more endurance and versatility on the drum set. This was a great lesson, and I’m excited to start applying this method. Thank you!

Man, you're absolutely right... I had same problem and didn't know how to fix it. I took a lesson through telegram video call and he instantly gave me a solution. Your lesson contains the same information... it's so simple and natural, why this priceless knowledges hidden from drummers? To much more complicated stuff about doubles on RU-vid... 😂

Thanks Stephen, I want to be able to break the 120 barrier with my paradises. This of course translates to other functions.

I'm working on my doubles, and singles for that matter, to make sure everything comes out nice and even, and my weaker hand gets a really good workout. I do these exercises with a timer on my phone and I try to stay relaxed all the way through. Sometimes as I try to speed up I can feel things tensing up, so I stop and reset. What else can I do to avoid getting tense at speed, please?

My practice pad doesn’t seem to allow such a bounce as yours does (or as much as my friend’s). I don’t think my snare does either. A bad workman always blames his tools, eh?! 😆

Same. I never feel like I get an appropriate amount of rebound. And when I try to be completely loose and open up, I find that the stick goes all over the place. I use a practice pad (occasionly) and the mesh heads on my v-drums. I've always wondered if the mesh heads are giving me the same kind of rebound that I would get from real drum heads. I've never played on real drums so it's hard to say for sure.

What sticks are you using?
@bsmith5404

, 5A. We use them in the drumming band (Brazilian samba) so hopefully I’m in the right class here! I just use NGD’s snare vids which are great.

@@bsmith5404 ok. I used 5às when playing but 2bs when practicing and noticed the 2bs naturally rebound more. Might be worth experimenting with.
