@@riffwrath6236 I sure do (good quality mic cable). It is easy to make the DT sound like my Hot Rod Deluxe. I don't have a Marshall, an AC30, or a Mesa Boogie so I can't tell how close they are, but I love the rig. I have heard one you tuber compare it to helix and it was hard to tell them apart. I suspect there are specific places the new is truly an improvement. Where do YOU think the Helix has improved the most over M series? (I think that's hd500, right?)

@@tedc6694 the most improvement is the increased amount of support, as you pointed out. There are many good devices that are not well supported. I use backing tracks for gigs, so the Powercab + allows for borh a FRFS and guitar speaker emulation at the same time from separate inputs. That eliminates the need for separate electric guitar amp and an accoustic guitar amp. The system control through Line 6 Link reduces the amount of MIDI. The backing tracks are synced with a MiDI track, which allows automated patch and snapshot selection.

You can get some good tones out of the xt live. It's been a long time since I've used one, but basically for acoustic I recommend eq, compression, and reverb. I don't remember if you can turn off the amp model in xt live or not, but that would be preferable for acoustic. But I 100% recommend helix if you can 🙂

For sure I would consider these tweaks for live use. Using the Helix and PC+ is a great option. There are acoustic IR's out there. 3 Sigma Audio have some really good ones. They work well with electric guitars and some electric acoustic guitars I've tried. I've never gotten them to play well with Variax though as it is already an acoustic emulation.

No I've never run into that. Is it on specific strings? If anything it sounds like it could be an issue with one of the piezo saddle pickups. I would tag Partev on the FB group if you haven't already and see if he would chime in.

I'm using the Gibson model. I have some preset packs on the line 6 marketplace and it uses the tweaks I'm using here and it comes with a helix preset with some eq tweaks for Variax acoustic like you see in the video.

@@ChadHuskey Thanks, but I think I phrased my question incorrectly. I didn’t mean which physical Variax guitar model you’re using. I meant which Helix Variax acoustic simulation are you using? The Martin D25, the jumbo Gibson, etc.?

That's one of the exact reasons for the technique of this video. I attempt to pull out the muddiness, but keep it sounding full. I always use parametric EQ on my patches I use Variax acoustic on.
