Hey, I got the AT&T router with the new fiber plan with 1000Mbps and its garbage. When i get a new router do i just unplug old from wall and connect the new one the same way they did the old one and that’s it?

I have ATT and I paid for the 1000 speed which I never get, I still using the router they provided Pace 5268AC Gateway, do you think this router will be ok for a 3000 sq ft? I don’t get fiber or cable internet. I have the atnt unlimited hotspot. But I live in a dead zone. So now I’m doing about 10 mbps sometimes. But I have to have a internet booster for an antenna. Any suggestions

I bought a AC1200 router from Tenda (Tenda AC10u) with hard wired I can receive 200~300mbps. But when conected to wifi (in 802.11ac and 5ghz band) I only get 20~50mbps. My phone is LG V20. Can u solve this problem ?

Hey man, I have a modem/router 2 in 1 that my internet provider gave to me and my speeds are very low. If I buy a new Router, do I just plug it in to my 2 in 1?? Or do I also need to buy a new 2 in 1?? I don't really understand. I asked the guy before he left if I could change the router because I thought I had gotten aI2 part system and he said "Yeah you just can plug it in" and then I saw it was a 2 in 1 system. I am guessing that you run an ethernet cable from the 5682AC modem to your Nighthawk router and disable the WiFi connections coming off of the AT&T modem/router combo? I have gigabit as well and streaming a hockey game while my wife browses facebook causes it to buffer and sputter around. I would like to get a new router but am unsure if this is the proper way to hook this up or not.

please help, I’m getting att fiber internet and I hear the routers are really bad. I’m just looking to get my moneys worth and I plan on hardwiring my Xbox and pc while the rest of the house uses WiFi devices. I’d say up to 10 devices total. There’s also only two floors where the internet will probably bet set up downstairs and my pc and Xbox being upstairs I don’t want to spend a ton of cash but what do you think between the Netgear X4s AC2600 vs the AC 1900 model? I hardly know how to configure settings so I’d prefer just set up and play..

Have you gotten more speed since then. I have the ubiquiti AMPLIFI HD and I am seeing 450mbs on my iPhone XS Max on the speed test with WiFi. I also have gigabit service from att. The only thing I’ve noticed though if I run the same test on 2 devices at the same time the speed is cut in half. So I’ll see around 200mbs per device. I’m wondering if I can run 2 WiFi routers at the same time.

So basically I've wanted to know what type of wifi speeds was u seeing with bgw210? Before router wifi? I also have att enterprise(leased line through atts line but othee isp service)(suppose to be faster and better) gigabit line, Im able to get 900-930s up and down but wifi only 200-212 mbps tops. on the at&t router i got i get around 400 mbps on wifi have not tried the wired connection yet because i just got the service not even a month ago. maybe the new at&t routers is better? since i see this video is from years ago.

so, I have the upright black box from ATT that has all the plugs on the back. 2 computers are hard-wired into the box, the land-line (for the old folks in the house) and a line to the security system. Hey Tommy, I just recently got Fiber. I got the bulk white modem that's part of the package. My desktop when it uses the wifi from the modem, it only picks up at least 50mbps and it when it hard wired to the desktop I can't tell because it won't connect to certain website and it won't even get me into speedtest.net when its hard wired. Also, I've seen people with PS4's where they able to get 800mbps meanwhile I'm getting 50-70mbps? What would you recommend? I know this video is three years old, but was wondering how are you experiencing it now?

Hey man this was really interesting. I too have AT&T fiber in a different city and I notice it is quite slow. When I spoke with the tech support they said AT&T modem is not compatible with other routers. So unless in the last 2 years they implemented some security measures, it's good to see I can get around their self imposed limitations. Have you moved on to something else or are you still using AT&T Fiber as explained here with the same results? Thanks, BG

Thanks for the tip. I was wondering if a better modem would help any? I just upgraded my "plan" from basic 6 to 24 (saving $4.00 a month from the regular rapacious fee) . I did actually see 24Mbps one time. I currently have the i38Hg turn of the century portal they have been raping me for $7.00 a month rental all these years. I bought a different one (Pace AT&T 5168NV) on ebay in the spring for $8.00 shipped. First attempt to swap them out, I ran into a brick wall with a 4 digit pin number. You know at&t with the password annoyance at every step. I think the 5168NV is a gigabit router joined to a docsis2 modem. I hope to get caught up enough to try that swap gateway thing this week. If it is still a nogo, I can always plug that turn of the century piece of crap back in for a short time. Since I looked at the bill and noticed I have paid a little over $400.00 to enjoy the pleasure of the slow stream and 802.11g short range WiFi, I am much more motivated to get that i38hg back to AT&T with a lovely thank you note and off the equipment rental portion of the billing. Best of luck with your connection. Here in Oklahoma city, a crew came through early summer and dangled a fiber optic cable overhead on the phone pole. The crew offered that it may be all hooked up in a couple of months.

So I have frontier and the highest I was getting was 100 mbps so I checked the settings and I see that my tp-link I can get up to 1gb, but even the tp link is stuck at 100 or mbps. Anyone know what I can change to at least boost my tp-link router?

In order to get the fast wireless speeds from AT&T router make sure you desperate your network frequencies. Switch the network name for the 5ghz frequency to a different name and it will give you a faster overall speed. 2.4 frequency caps out at about 50 mbs.

Hey Tommy. I am having an issue. I bought the same router you did but my wifi speed is only getting about 100-150 down and 100 up on 5ghz. My Ethernet speeds are 950 down and up each way. I was expected to get much greater wifi speeds. I installed the new netgear router in router mode, disabled all ATT wireless settings, also set my device with DMZ on the att router and unchecked security on att? So what am I missing? Did you install your in router mode, or bridge , or AP?

Not sure how to solve this. I recently switched to AT&T and had a BGW210-700 modem installed, as well as fiber. However, my speed is pretty darn low, running at around 20 mbps in both wired and wireless. I went into my Network settings and it says the speed is at 1.0 gigabit for wired while the wireless is between 390 and 450 mbps. This has most effected any type of downloads, especially from places like Steam and Epic Game Store. Maybe it's the splitter they installed to help connect my other computer up as well? If anyone knows of a solution, please share. I'm thinking of just getting another router since my previous one is nearly 6 years old and needs replacing. Not sure if getting a new one would help or if I should try plugging my main computer directly into the modem itself.

How do you connect that new "router"? Is it connected directly to the Ethernet coming from the wall? Or do you connected to one of the 4 ports in your AT&T "modem router"? My home is very small, a two floor home with 3 bedroom on the second floor and them down it is kitchen a nice living room all together. So I am having speed troubles downstairs and also upstairs. My speed doesn't go beyond 20-35 Mbps but I am getting Ethernet speeds 300 Mbps. hi Tommy love your videos. Quick question bud. I just got att fiber and I signed up for 300 mbps , I really don't need more . I do have steady signal over 150 and sometimes 200 up and around 130 to 150 down but my android box stopped playing the movies and won't download the direct 1080 links like when I had Comcast. I took it to my cousin house to check the box out with he's comcast connection and there it worked fine but it will not work with the fiber at my home. I have the box hard wired always. Any advice on this ? Thanks

Most likely you have the older ATT router (nvg589 with 2.4ghz antenna) the new Att routers 5268 and 210 are in the 300/400mb range . Those have both 2.4 and 5ghz antenna.

I just got the Nighthawk R8000 thinking it would give me faster wifi speed than my 2016 AT&T modem. Well no cigar, get this, it's actually slower! How is that possible?
