Make Yu-Gi-Oh Reprints Great Again! 

_Please reprint my happiness and love in my life next, Konami. I lost my old copies._

Personally I want more sets like Duel Devastator where its like the top 20 or something most played generic cards from the last year or so. All reprinted and guaranteed. DD is such an amazing product as it made it so many powerful expensive cards can get into a more casual or budget players hands. Like Ash Blossom use to be stupidly expensive back then, especially for a mandatory staple as for years it was the best handtrap. Most people were excited for Duel Devastator because of its reprint and whats even better that reprinted pretty much halved Ash Blossoms price as well! Its seriously such a good product idea that I hope they revisit in future.

These reprint sets should never be more than like, 200 cards at absolute max, ideally somewhere around the 100 mark. The entire point of making a sealed product explicitly for the purposes of reprinting is to actually make the cards in the set accessible, you've completely defeated the purpose of reprinting by bloating the set so badly with shit that we don't want or need or with cards that simply could've been reprinted elsewhere.

Chances to get SP in the tin is lower than the original how does this make sense?

Reprints have experienced a pattern. It is basically a cashgrab before the key cards get removed. Example: Baronne. Printed only in high rarities, used to sell packs, despite being overpowered was never even limited, left that way for a while, reprinted in the rarity collection 1, banned shortly afterwards. Apo. If Konami wants me to buy a tin, they have to bring back guaranteed promos.

400 cards in the set is insane. such a low chance to get anything you want. the old tins where the featured card was guaranteed where better.

Everyone would be happy if they just made little knight an ultra rare. Budget players could afford it and people who already had it from AGOV would still have the max rarity so it wouldn't feel like a wasted purchase

The Walmart i bought my dueling mirrors tin were fully stocked with the 2022 and 2023 and the newly released 2024 tins

The set is definitely too big, 100 cards would've been great. and make each pack have like, 3 QCR, 2 Secrets, 2 Ultras and like, 3 commons, maybe, since a lot of their marketing seemed to be around "we're giving you more of the rarities you crave!" Good, freaking actually give us them though. I don't want to dig through potentially hundreds of packs just to maybe get one of the cards I'm looking for. And I don't think anyone was looking for QCR Gadgets in 2024. And promos. I don't mind tokens being included, but make them promos, don't take a slot up in my packs for a token

Reprints should do their job and let people get reprints. Cards shouldn't be hard to get in the first place. Just copy the OCG model like Rarity Collection 1. I don't understand why this is so difficult. I also agree with the take about reprint sets tanking "investments". Screw scalpers. Reprint sets SHOULD tank prices.

Its almost like Konami isnt confident at all in pulling a lot of new people into their game or something, so they have to milk the current player base for all their worth.

In my opinion, Rarity collections should focus on Rarity Bumps and Mega Tins should focus on making cheap versions of highly used cards and re-printing short printed cards *Cough* Dragon Master Magia *Cough*. Also, having a 400 card set that is 3 packs for $22 is insane and should be mocked continuously.

I bought one & enjoyed it until my conscience couldn't ignore the fact that i just spent over $20 to get a metal box & undesired cardboard

konami made the best reprint set which is 1st 25th Anniversary rarity collectors set, and then it went downhill from there

Konami should have proxys of every card available for cents for the people who just wanna play in tournaments Let the collectors worry about the actual cards

How is this so hard. You reprint the chase past secrets as rarity upgrades or downgrades. You reprint niche but usable cards and deck engines that were in lower rarity and give them a higher rarity. Give the tokens and the old/anime cards as promos.

Idk if I'd put Rarity Collection in this. Even the second one has better value, smaller focused sets, than the Mega Packs. SP and Thrust would get 7-8 different printings in RC. That's good for collectors and players alike. If you want an investment, buy real estate.

Nothing will ever top the hanzo tin back in early 2010s. Back then konami actually threw in staples that everyone needed.

My issue with the tins is that they didn’t do full reprints for archetypes that were waiting for them. I’ve been waiting a year for vanquish soul reprints only for half of the archetype to get reprinted. This then creates another issue because key pieces that weren’t reprinted like Mad Love and Caesar Valius are getting scalped to make the reprints seemingly not matter for the decks price. It’s a shame because last year we got full reprints for ninjas and runick. I just wish Konami was consistent in their reprint strategy

They might as well not even release reprints anymore if they are gonna make them worse and worse to the point where Thrust is still 40 bucks a year and a half after being released as an almost staple.

The best tin back in the day was the pot of duality tins that had 2 variations of tins with several reprints of exclusives. But most importantly, you got pot of duality in each tin.

I almost got no problem with reprint sets at all. The only problem I have is that sometimes Konami reprint cards nobody cares about. They're probably only doing it to fill out the set

The most important part is absolutely the multiple rarities on release. Players shouldn't be stuck waiting months and months to stop being gatekept from game pieces, that shouldn't be a thing at all. The tcg set model simply needs to die, plus it creates yet another huge barrier to getting new players. Until the tcg stops being treated like shit and we get set distributions on par with the ocg's I'm not buying a single product or card again and neither should you.

Konami will always be a garbage company who does not care about its customers as long as we have the OCG to look at. At this point there is no excuse as to why we get a shittier version of the game just because they feel like it. It is disrespectful.

100% agree!!! I’ve been playing since the game started and I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for this game. The cards in this card game should be about PLAYING THE GAME, not about the money. 10/10 respect! 🤘🏽

The set size in these tins was not necessarily a bad thing. The bad thing was that ALL the commons here are just common bulk from recent sets, meaning 8/13 slots of each pack are absolutely worthless. It means the chase pulls are the ONLY pulls worth considering, even for more casual players. You're buying a tin for 15 cards, and realistically only 6 cards since the ultras are mostly just rarity bumps for cheap and common cards people already have. So when your 6-card tin has a massive pool of things you don't want, that becomes a much bigger problem than having a 39-card tin with a big pool of things you want and don't want

I can understand that Konami is a business, but they don't have to be so aggressive and anti-consumer with the monetization. We don't need cards that cost $100 or more that don't benefit us and in the end only benefit people with luck, vendors, and obviously Konami. We need multiple rarities to allow people to play good cards relatively cheaply, the game doesn't need to gatekeep good cards only to people with money. If you compare a main set booster box the people in the OCG get more love such as cards with multiple rarities, lower prices, and rarities that we don't have anymore like the Ultimate. I don't think that the problem relies on these reprint sets, the problem is from the main sets, if we had more affordable cards within the main sets we shouldn't carve for these reprints and hope that they give us good cards.

So as someone who enjoyed old school yugioh and literally cant get anything modern yugioh I like the retro packs and when I saw the 25th anniversary tins covered in all the art of the anime characters I got excited for that too, only to see people opening them and all the cards being all these modern day cards I couldnt care less about and immediately stopped caring about the tins.

I miss the old mega tins, you got a set of fixed promo cards and the 3 megatins. Like the 2016 tins were really good, some really cool promos that were pretty expensive, a token, and the 3 packs. The jaden and yusei tins were really cool. Shame they changed it. Can they bring back duelist packs? They were great, there were about 30 cards in the set so it meant you could more easily pull some really cool cards.

I don't understand why Konami changed the tins from the old way they did things. If I recall correctly, they would make pack secret rares into tin ultras, and pack ultras into tin secrets. Then you would see super rares get upgraded and downgraded, commons or rares see similar changes. I liked when they did this, and I don't see why that changed?

Let's be frank, issue isn't being a "reprint set" Mega Tins always give a card roundup of the yr. The ISSUE is Ko-money has gotten lazy, the manager in charge of products is un-inspired, would it be nice to have alt-art high raritys? common S:P? MIX ALL Rarities w/ All Cards Etc Etc. people love to Max rarity all the time. Issue is Konami has fallen off, you got a +55 yr old japanese business man in charge who doesn't know how to make a good product, Period.

If we got the fair and inexpensive market that is the OCG, I would be big happy.

Literally watching The Professor but for Yugioh. Makes my heart happy. While you have plenty of things to dislike about the game, you always approach it with some optimism first. And your feedback is because you want Konami to succeed, because you do love the game.

The way konami does it couldn't be worse. You know what sucks more than having to buy 20€ playsets for 60€ or 60-100€ cards? Watching them go to zero as your collection is devalued as time progresses. This is the damned worst way to operate a TCG. The cards should be more reasonably priced to begin with, that way you wouldn't need constant reprints to devalue peoples collections. You are basically playing part-time vendor or hot potato with your cards to not just burn your money. This way of doing things is the worst for the people who can afford expensive cards, and it's also bad for people on a budget because by the time you can afford the good cards reprinted they are obsolete basically.

I love the tins. Having all 5 pieces of Exodia in QCSR is awesome. My Blue-eyes deck has never looked so good with the OG QCSR. Having the older Anime cards as QCSR is awesome for people who like to collect. I even bought the Red Gadget and Seal of Orichalcos that I didn't pull. In my personal opinion, people need to stop expecting Konami to give them everything they want. You will never get a product from them that will make you happy. Instead, I try to appreciate what we do get, which were a lot of good reprints. I know a few cards are still a good amount of money, but they are cheaper than before, which is better than them not being reprinted at all 🤷

I don't hate the Tins, but the issue I have with the Tins is over half the set is dedicated to reprinting cards that were already bulk Commons as bulk Commons again. A lot of cards as common could've just been removed and some cards in the secret/ultra slots shifted down to Commons to make them more affordable and accessible. I don't hate large set sizes, I hate inflating sets with reprints nobody asked for, like did we really need another printing of Card Trader?

SP Little Knight was supposed to be prismatic secret rare but my SP is a secret rare misprint.

Agreed, Paul, this is a GAME. Accessibility of the game should be the top priority, not to pad out whales' wallets.

Konami designs products exclusively for vendors and whales, no responsible adult/average consumer can pull a playset of ANY secret rare by just opening packs/boxes

Bought 1 tin for collectors purpose, the rest is singles

I'm old school so literally the only card I wanted was an Alternate art Raigeki but I got a quarter century DMG so really can't complain lol

No Paul don't let Konami trick you. This is actually the first mega tins to have no supers or rares. Don't blame you for forgetting about rares sense core sets haven't had them for a long time, and basically just a common at this point thanks to side sets.

My local Walmart has last year's mega tins for 15.00 dollars. So I've been buying those instead. Much better value from what I've seen. But I agree that cards should be accessible, its not a sudo stock market.

On the topic of anime cards being in the tin, I like them as that’s part of the reason I buy the tins. I bought at least 15 of the previous anniversary tin for the promos. That being said, they should have done the same here. Each tin should have one card that’s pictured on the tin AND a token. Ot

Personally I like getting bulk cards, but this year's tin just feels bad to me, 100 commons and only 4 cards were moved down to common. Compared to the last tin where all the Libromancer stuff was made common from supers and Ultras, it just feels bad. And feels bad in the sense that it's not every rarity upgrades, 96 of those cards were all ready commons, so why print them again?

Now imagine adding 4-5 decks in a Master Duel Banner.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong since I don't really play that much ygo, mostly done master duel with that free swordsoul deck they gave out. But to me it seems like rarities are basically pointless when pretty much any cars you'd wanna put in your deck is an ultra rare+? Like, in magic your deck might actually have a bunch of commons, because commons are not just pack filler, some of them are very strong, doesn't seem to be the case with ygo?

All i can say is that there is no way these tins are worse than the 2 player starter deck, just because that one wasn't a complete enough system to introduce players to yugioh, like only synchro and xyz? where is the start decks for fusions and links, or rituals and pendulums , nor are they competitive enough, like a structure deck can be.

They are releasing another set in January where there will be a card only available as qcr again...

The problem with yugioh is that we got more and more and more cards, making the past ones weaker than the new ones, and then, go back again to get more and more broken cards. Yuigoh needs to make a rotative format, like just the sets from 1 year around, or make sets for that reason, to make a format with only certain sets, like ''Format X'' with just the sets with the ''X'' on it, or ''Format Legacy'' with just sets that makes reprints of old cards but from certain old sets with some new cards. Really, what's the point in a game that kills the decks in sake of the new products when we could have a lot of formats to play nice and good?

Idk if they are going to change the card rairty structure after the dragon master magia.

I don't care anymore. Let them just do whatever they want with their products at this point. My question is this. Why must they always make their products worse and worse and worse? Rarity Collection - great! Rarity Collection 2 - worse Mega tins - great! Current tins - far worse maze sets - great! Last one - not as good And I don't to hear about Japan. OCG is nothing like this. Why is Konami of America consistently making the products we buy worse? Which product have they made better over the years? Which product was better in the TCG compared to the OCG?

Bottom line Konami fails at reprinting their expensive cards and as a result they make people get priced out.

I NEVER buy sealed product. It's just not worth it. Unless there's a lot of cards you need in that product, so you have a high chance of getting something you need, so fair enough. I always buy singles. So i don't have to gamble money to get a one of in a 400 card pool. And if something still costs too much like S:P right now, i just wait until the price drops. I play casual anyways so i don't care about anything besides having fun with my friends.

Bring back the promo packs

At the end of the day, it's a sales issue. The community is shrinking, there's less volume of cards being moved and vendors need to make a profit to stay afload and stock the game. So key cards are short printed, to keep their value up and sell packs we honestly wouldn't buy unless those cards were chaser cards in the set, meaning the remaining players have to buy more to make for the deficit.

I got the Kashtira engine from last years tin. This year, I got second half from this tin. I'm happy. I used the previous engine to build a Kashtira Speedroid deck. Now, Ill play a straight Kash deck. As a budget player, Im happy enough. I say enough because I had originally had my heart set on buying the Horus engine, but its way to pricey. I settled on the second half of the kash engine.

Well I'm not an idiot that buys Tins, and if you buy a bunch of tins just to get desired cards from a set you are. Buy what your looking for and abandon gambling addiction because at its core it's what it is. Enough ppl for content and business purposes buy Tins to sell cards. I got everything I was looking for. Only difference I didn't get stuck with a bunch of undesirable cards I wasn't interested in. Singles is ALWAYS the correct answer. Only time ppl cares abt tins is when they had guaranteed promotional cards in them. No promotional cards, not worth it. Wait for other ppl to crack open tins and buy the singlesbon online marketplace and don't blow a hole in your pockets needlessly. Don't even bother buying the tins because they go for sale too eventually. Also sorry if what I say triggers some ppl, just stating facts.

Protecting card value is such a stupid and completely selfish/greedy argument. This is a trading card GAME!!! Not a trading card investment simulator. If you want to invest/gamble your money, go do it on the stock market, that was literally made for that. Leave tcgs for those who actually want to play/collect the cards.

1) I disagreed with Paul’s previous opinion of hating the nostalgia cards and QCR slots, so I’m glad he brought up the fact that it’s an entirely different slot that doesn’t interfere with the rest of the set. 2) I do disagree with the opinion that it doesn’t matter about the value of cards. If there aren’t any cards that are worth pulling, then people just aren’t going to open the product, which will raise prices of the cards due to shortened supply which is what’s happening with these tins, although for the tins it’s more the fact that it feels almost impossible to pull the sought after cards.

What do you all think about ct scanning for products like this? I feel like regardless of the card access, I think of all sort of products this is one that seems the least able to ct scan for the high $ secrets

I bought two tins and plused on the first and pulled a Imsety and SP in the second I first tin ever where I actually got my monies worth. QCR pulls could've been better though.

I got lucky and pulled an SP and an Imsety (still need 2 more though :/) sadly no thrusts and I only bought 2 tins

Personally I think yugioh should do what pokemon does. Reprint but change the artwork.

We had great reprints this year and past years. I appreciate konami trying to let our cards retain some value this time around!
