I finally finished building my custom enclosure for my Makeblock XTool D1. I had some mistakes in my wood cuts and some other minor issues but I was able to make adjustments. Overall I’m happy with the outcome. This video is not a tutorial but it shows that if you put in effort into something you may be able to get what you want. The list posted below should serve as a starting point for fellow noobs like me who can’t spend a lot of money on an enclosure. It’s not strict and you can customize as needed and swap out parts to fit your specific needs.
Structure - Plywood (thickness depends on your preference)(Home Depot)
1. TOP COVER - 26 INCH HEIGHT AND WIDTH
2. BOTTOM BASE - 26 INCH HEIGHT AND WIDTH
3. FRONT WALL - 12 INCH HEIGHT, 26 INCH WIDTH (SUCTION FAN HOLE IS 4.5 INCHES)
4. REAR WALL - 12 INCH HEIGHT, 26 INCH WIDTH
5. LEFT WALL - 12 INCH HEIGHT, 26 INCH WIDTH
6. RIGHT WALL - 12 INCH HEIGHT, 26 INCH WIDTH
7. SCREWS DEPEND ON THE THICKNESS OF WOOD YOU USE (you’ll need about 50)(Home Depot)
8. HINGES - (EVERBILT NARROW UTILITY HINGES, 1-1/2IN, 2 PACK, NON-REMOVAL PIN) (Home depot)
9. ACRYLIC ORANGE (double check for laser filtering): amzn.to/3DCyqAD
10. HONEYCOMB BED (OPTIONAL): www.ebay.com/i...
11. EXHAUST HOSE: amzn.to/3ctQ5ym
12. SUCTION FAN: amzn.to/3HGChPg
13. Foam is from D1 packaging box
If you have any questions, I don’t mind. Please ask in the comments below and I’ll get to it as soon as possible.

Is there a certain room temperature that this machine needs to operate in? At this time I would need to move it to my porch to run it as I don’t have a dedicated room or a garage to work in.

Mine is currently on my back porch and it works fine. It’s been there for the past week. I’ve had it in an enclosure though so I’m not too sure if being fully exposed will mess with its function. I think you can keep it outside as long as you have something to protect it from moisture. Hope this helps

I am so new to this engraver that I don't even own one yet and have never used one before so please be patient with me. Can you tell me why you would need an enclosure? Is it fumes from the burning of the material or is it noise too loud? What is it? I appreciate your feedback.

Hi Darin. I needed the enclosure because of the fumes when I burn things, also to protect my eyes from the laser if I am not wearing safety goggles. The more materials you experiment with you will eventually notice that the fumes get strong especially in closed spaces. Open box laser machines like these will eventually need an enclosure. If you have your garage open when you burn stuff you should be fine. Lasers emit laser particles also when they burn items which may be harmful. Long story short, the enclosure protects your lungs and the colored acrylic protects your eyes.

@@laserrookie I appreciate you responding. I am considering buying a laser machine to run in my shop. I think this is a step in the right direction.
